We locked out of the marina at 6:15am, with the weather forecast giving 5/6 SE, we decided to give the river a go for a couple of hours. A few really good bits missed, and plenty of decent sized whiting. We finally managed to get the first winter codling of the year, which was around the 2lb mark. With this released, we decided to head to another inshore mark. We dropped the anchor again, an straight away the guys were into Thornbacks, Dogfish, Whiting, Dabs etc. We fished here most of the day and made the choice to try the flood in for some cod at another mark. Again plenty of insized whiting, no cod, but still is a bit early.

We locked out of the marina at 5:15am and headed out offshore. We went to the first mark of the day and got everyone fishing. It didn't take long for Jo to get the first fish of the day, a small poor cod. A short time after everybody on the boat started catching a wide variety of species. We decided to move and try another mark. Then with jack taking a fish off for Jo, his rod began bouncing. When he hooked into the fish it gave him a lovely fight which resulted in a nice 14lb Bullhuss. A few more whiting and poor cod, doggies,, tub gurnard, some tiny tope, a few more Huss, and pouting to go with a few other species gave the guys a good trip. All in all a good day.

We locked out of the marina and headed up the river with the intentions to trying different marks to yesterdays trip. We got to the first mark and decided that it was too rough to fish, so headed inshore to fish another mark for a few hours and see how the weather settled as the day progressed. We got the guys fishing on the first mark and as with yesterday they were into mackeral straight away as well as a sprat. Graham who was fishing at the front was pulling in pouting and poor cod 3 at a time, with the other guys bringing in doggies and various other species. Tommy was the first of the day to land a Huss at around 6lb. With the pool being heaviest fish Tommy was giving the rest of the guys banter about him being the winner already, until one of the guys on the back had hooked into a lovely bullhuss, but before anyone could get the net fast enough it snapped the line as he was only on a scratching rig and swam off on the surface. I estimate it was around 14lb.
With the wind easing we decided to try and head back offshore, so lines were brought in and off we went. We got to the mark and the guys began fishing. Again plenty of Pouting, Whiting and Poor Cod. We moved to another 3 marks further offshore with the same results.

We locked out of Liverpool Marina at 5:30am and headed out offshore. There was a bit of a chop to begin with, but we knew that it was dropping all day. We headed out to the first mark 28 miles out. The guys started fishing and were into mackeral straight away. Tom was the first of the day to bring a pollack aboard which was around the 4lb mark. We stayed here for about an hour and then decided that it had dropped enough to go even further out. We motored out to try 4 more marks around 10miles further out. Again the guys were into pollack all around the 4lb mark. Plenty of pouting and poor cod were also caught as well as doggies, weevers, gurnard, and a few nice huss with the best weighing in at 14lb falling to Brian. All in all plenty of banter from the lads, surprised there were no Cod caught. But thats Fishing for you. Looking forward to seeing the Lads again for a bash at the Mersey Cod.

12,08,12 CJS TRIP, We tried to blow this trip of the night before due to a bad weather forecast but some had already travelled up the night before, so after some discusions we agreed to take the trip and stay inshore , so we left the marina with a group of lads that had been on the town all night and came straight to the boat 5 slept all day and the other lads slept for a while on and off in the 23 mph wind we did manage to catch some smooth hounds, mackeral, dabs, etc. With the Lads that stayed awake on and off, at one stage i managed to wind all of the lads rods in and leave them in without any one noticing The moral of the story is dont drink to much before a trip and dont stay up late or you will waste your day plenty of pics to follow.
