Although we tried to blow this trip of on Friday due to a strong wind forecast.which meant we would not be able to fish the marks off shore that we would of liked to the group wanted to fish the river,I explained that we fish the river only in the winter for cod etc and that they would not be there at this time of the year,So we came up with a plan to fish the river and if the wind decreased we would try to get up the channel for some smooth hound fishing. We left the marina at 7.00am to find the wind blowing 28kts wnw.we headed up the river to let the lads see why we could not go in the channel to be greated with some nice rollers,So we returned to a mark in the river where we stayed until 11.30 am.catching very small whiting .The wind had now eased to17kts wnw so we headed up the channel we could not understand why 5 of the lads where suffering so much until they addmitted they stayed up drinking until 1.30am ( the moral of the story dont have a session the night before a fishing trip ) the groan of the day went to Mark jones who booked the trip for the loudest grunts of the day back to the fishing whiting dabs and smoothhound to 6lb 5 oz Overall the banter did not stop alLday even while some where lining up for a bed in sick bay up the front.

We locked out of the marina at 6am, with the water like oil. We proceeded to our first mark, some 26miles away. Got the lads fishing with mackeral coming aboard straight away. Moved to another mark 3miles further offshore. The lads were into fish from the off. These included Cod to 6lb, Huss to 10lb, Ballan Wrasse, etc. Moved to another mark were we caught a few more species. These were Dabs, Starry and Common Smoothounds etc. There were plenty of fish caught, with a total of 15 different species throughout the day.
Good day was had by all, we look forward to seeing the lads again soon.

We met the guys at the marina for 2am (Stupid 'O' Clock), for a 2:30am lock out. We locked out and headed offshore for the first mark of the day. We got to the mark and started to fish straight away. Almost immediately we had our first few fish of the day Cod. A few smaller ones were brought aboard which were in size, but the guys returned them. Then a nice knock and fight resulted in a nice 7lber. We decided to move to another mark to fish. Again small codling were brought aboard, with Pollack, Ling, Pouting, Poor Cod etc. Just as we were about to head to our smoothound mark, Micky hooked a nice 7lb 8oz Cod. With this in the bag we moved to the new mark. Baits were prepared and dropped over the side. It didnt take long for the first smoothie of the day to be landed. After this plenty more were brought aboard, aswell as other species. 15 Smoothies were landed in total to go with the dozen Cod we had caught.
Good day with a good bunch of lads, Plenty of Banter.

Group of School Teachers from Liverpool
Out today with a group of guys today. Started off with nice weather. Went to the first mark and had Cod to 6lb 8oz, Pollack, Mackeral. Then as the weather got worse moved inshore on the smoothound. Fishing was slow at first with a few smoothies being brought in then as slack water approached the wind started picking up. On the turn of the tide a few more smoothies were brought in, aswell as Dabs, Doggies etc. Just as we were about to head in a small4lb Thornback was landed.

Black Horse Fishing Club
Today we had a group of guys from the Black Horse Fishing Club. With the wind forecast to drop we locked out and headed up the Mersey. As we entered the Rock Channel, their was a slight swell. The guys had decided to go offshore. We got to our first mark and started to fish. Mackeral started coming in thick and fast. We moved to another mark and carried on fishing. Even more mackeral and some Pollack were brought aboard. The conditions had got worse instead of getting better, so the guys decided to go for Smoothound and Bass. We made our way back in and dropped the anchor. Whilst most of the guys were baiting up, Shaun had already cast out waiting for his first bite, which seemed to be straight away. The first bite didnt produce but the second cast out and he had hooked into a nice Smoothie. Getting it into the net and bringing it aboard, weighing in at 13lb. After this everybody on the boat seemed to be landing them one after the other. To add to the mix, Dabs, Weavers and Doggies were brought aboard, aswell as more mackeral. The total Smoothie count for the was 36 to 13lb. The weather conditions were not good with a constant driving rain all day that soaked everybody. Shauns brother stuck it out in his shorts and wellies, while everyone else took shelter under the canopy.
Some nice fish brought in by a great group of guys.

We left the marina with the hopes of getting offshore. As we approached the lighthouse we could see the turbines spinning and didnt know how far we could get out. The forecast was for a decresing wind all day, we all made the choice to bottom fish whilst waiting for the wind to decrease. We dropped the anchor on a mark 28miles from Liverpool. The lines were in the water and straight from the off we were into mackeral, gurnard, dogfish. With everyone getting plauged with doggies we decided to head offshore. We got to the chosen mark and fished straight away. A few decent Cod and Pollack were brought aboard and with everybody happy we decided to go to another mark further out. With various baits over the side, John Tandy hooked into a nice bullhuss of 17lb 10oz and Nev hooked into and boated a very nice Cod of 7lb 10oz closely followed by Paul with another Cod. The guys were enjoying themselves that much that knowbody noticed it was time to head in.
A good day was had by all.

PSS Lads.
Out on the 8th with the lads from PSS. Such a surprise with the weather being nice for a change. Fished several marks today. First produced some pollack, pouting and gurnard. Then we went and dropped the anchor. Straight away the lads started getting huss. Mark hooked into a decent fish only for it to come off. A few of the guys landed smaller huss to 9lb. Then Shaun hooked and landed a massive 17lb 1oz BullHuss. 12yr old Francis who had never fished before kept catching doggies and other bits until patience paid off and he landed a lovely 13lb 13oz huss, which was nearly as big as him. Plenty more huss were brought aboard. Some nice tub, grey and red gurnard were brought aboard. Plenty of scad were brought in with a lovely 1lb 13oz specimen by Nev. With the sea like a mirror some of the guys (after a late night on the ale) decided to chum. This clearly brought on the doggies as Phil seemed to be the dog fish king. One of the lads( Not mentioning names MARK) doesnt believe in suntan cream as he was the colour of a tomato by the end of the day.
Great bunch of lads who we look forward to seeing soon.

We left the marina at around 10:30am with a slight breeze blowing. We knew that at first it would be choppy, but as the day went on it would flatten. As we were half way to the first mark, Alan decided to start chumming early. When we arrived at the mark the anchor was dropped and everybody started to fish for mackeral. After a while the first of the day were brought in and after that you couldnt even get the lines to the bottom. Joeys and Jumbo mackeral came in their hundreds.
After plenty of mackeral had been brought aboard "H" decided to have a second go at catching his first and elusive Tope. The waiting finally paid off when a good few knocks on his rod and "H" hooked into his first Tope, that took off like a missile. With a few hints and tips and the dive lift lowered it was time to bring it in. When it surfaced you could see that it was nice fish. Once it was brought aboard "H" had is photos taken with it and it was weighed in the sling. The final weight was 32lb, not bad for his first ever Tope. Whilst the photos were being taken Daz, hooked into another Tope which made a very fast run away from the boat. Managing to turn the tope it proceeded back towards the boat and took a very fast dive which snapped the line. The guys who were standing next to daz as he was fighting it, said it was visibly twice the size of the one boat, when they saw it on the surface next to the boat.
With a few hours left we decided to head to a mark closer to home to go for SmoothHound, and it didnt take long for Alan to Catch a nice 6lb Starry Smooth Hound.(Even though he had spent most of the day cleaning the deck fast asleep at the front of the boat). We then moved in for Flatties, which we got straight away with a lot of nice keepers. A small codling was also brought aboard, which was good to see. Amongst the other things caught during the day were mackeral, doggies, whiting, dabs, weevers, smooth hound, codling etc.
