We left the marina at 7.00amto fish a mark in the Mersey with the target species of Cod and Whiting.
We arrived at the mark with the lads eager to start fishing, but before the lines where wet they were given a demo by the skipper on how to present the bait on the hooks. After about 10 minutes the lads had all mastered it so fishing began. The lads started pulling fish in the best fish of the day was a Cod of 6lb 14oz closely followed by a 6lb 9 oz Cod with over 15 3lb+ loads of whiting, Thornback Rays to 10lb 8oz plus numerous dogfish and flatties. It was great to see the lads walking out of the marina with plastic bags on the backs with the fish in, heading back to their university halls in Manchester, talking about who was cooking that night. I would imagine there was some fishy smells on the train journey home for them. Overall a great day was had by a group of lads who had only fished twice before. Gary Flint -

We left the marina at 9.00am to fish the Mersey we anchored and started to fish, The wind was blowing 22 kts and gusting 32 kts sw the rain was horizontal, but this did not dampen the spirits of kingys worm danglers, they started to catch dogfish straight away then, codling and then kingy hooked a thorn back of 8lb 12oz. Tony landed a strap conger which hit the scales at 12lb and cool Karl just kept fishing away at the front of the boat bagging 7 codling in tital for himself with the best Cod for him being 5 lb. Total fish caught numerous whiting, dabs, dogfish, 15 codling, 5 rays,1 strap conger.
Overall plenty of banter and a good wet windy day.

We left the marina at 9.0am the forecast was not to good but the lads wanted a shot at one of the wrecks for conger,i explained that it would be lumpy and we might be better in the river ,the lads had a vote and readied there wrecking rigs. When we had reached the Bar Racon i explained that we would not be able to go the distance we had wanted to so we picked a couple of nearer marks placing us only 20 miles from the marina,We started the 1st drift with everybody ready but the boat was was rocking a bit to much for some who immediately fell ill, darren caught a pollack about 4lb some smaall guarnard where picked up plus a poor cod.we had another couple of drifts and decided that the wind was becoming stronger it was now 22 kts SW.So we picked another wreck nearer home and heade for that when we got there we decided to fish for mackerel,we caught 6 and headed back into the river with the plan to fish for thornback rays.we eventually dropped anchor in the river 1 hr before slack water and bagged thorn back rays, whiting dabs dogfish etc every body caught fish even though we had wind recorded at 28kts
