Report on-board Duke IV
The summer species have arrived with good sport for Bass, Thornback Ray and Smoothounds. Mackerel now around in numbers some days allowing us to catch fresh bait for the Thornies!
View Boats Page
July is the time the large Bass arrive and their is no better bait than a large fillet of mackerel fished hard on the bottom, or fished live when the water is clear!
Fish lugworm for the smaller Bass or Hokkias or white feathers when a school turns up!
Smoothounds can be caught on lug squid cocktail while the biguns like whole squid!
We are picking up some good Whiting and Pouting now on the worm and fish baits so plenty of species to aim for, just remember to bring a cool box with some ice packs to keep your catch in tip top condition while taking the fish home! -

June !!

Nearly all the species are here now, even the conger eel has moved inshore. And of course the weed
has come which can make fishing a bit of a problem. But you just have to find the places that are weed free
during the floood and ebb tide cycle.
We started the month of well on Malaki with plenty of Bream, Plaice, Bass & Tope, then the weather
stopped fishing it's almost like winter but l guess it's down to green house gases or is it ???
However were bashing on and getting out when we can. Had a couple of bad trips last week but this week
were back on form catching bass, conger, tope and lots of ray's so if you get a spare day, your always welcome to join us onboard Malaki !!
The picture is of Ken a very good angler and l am pleased to say a regular on Malaki with a nice 5lb 1oz plaice caught on the drift using ragworm and beades. -

It was raining hard for the first 2 hours of our journey but many cups of tea and the excitement of a good days angling was enough to keep morale high.
The day just got better and better !!!
Steve Walters from Eastleigh who had been requesting to catch Bass for weeks had his dream come true as he caught 11 Bass, the best weighing in at 11lbs. Tim the crew had his work cut out netting the catch and looking after the lads !
We caught 26 all together with a box of Polluck ,the best weighing in at 14lbs.
As the the wind picked up we headed for home.
A good day out enjoyed by all. -

Lots of fish for the individuals day Thursday then on Friday, Peters crew from an East London pub turned up for a corporate day. Along with the food & drink they caught some nice Thornies and Hounds!
On Saturday it was back out to the wrecks with Steves crew from Sheppey and after a difficult start with the first 3 wrecks being quiet we made up for it with a good catch of Cod from the last one Phew!!
Sunday brought some wind so Andys crew were disappointed we couldnt get to the wrecks but were happy with the excellent inshore fishing with the Thornies & Hounds we managed to find.
Monday began with a fine morning so we headed north where we had fish all day with Skate, Bass, Whiting, Codling and some fine Dabs, Mel managed a nice Smoothound to finish the day. -

Inshore Species are in, and the BBQ has been going ever since. Great inshore Bream Fishing around the Solent area, Mackerel are hitting the scene and some great smooth hounds off the Needles along with plenty of Doggies and even the odd scorpion fish. Things are looking up for a great summer and an even better set of fish for the BBQ.

Well what can i say about Dave Elliott ?
View Boats Page
Top skipper, courteous and simply the best at what he does.
Out on Friday with him.......lots of medium codling about, mix of medium sized pollack and a sprinkling of good sized conger. One things for sure , he tries and tries.....takes it personally if his anglers don't catch fish; now thats gotta be good.
All my personal bests have come on Ocean Warrior 3. Thoroughly recommend him to anyone and reasonable rates to boot. Top skipper. You never caught a decent conger or cod.......Speak to Dave, he'll soon put you straight. Tight lies.

Report on-board Duke IV
The fishing has really turned on here at Ramsgate with the Thornbacks arriving inshore and the Cod on the offshore wrecks along with a sprinkling of Pollack. The Bass are heading around the coast on their annual migration north. We had a good catch of wreck Cod on Duke IV for the individuals thursday wrecking trip and followed up with Pauls group getting amongst the Cod and Pollack on the saturday. The weather has been kind too with sunshine and calm winds, very unusual for this time of year but very welcome. The fishing should continue to improve with the Smoothounds arrival, here one day gone the next!

Still some dates available on Duke IV but filling up fast, so get in quick and let us try and get you amongst the fish! Bob
