Haig from Tunbridge Wells caught his first Cod on Blacklug and Squid combo, it was not the best year for inshore cod fishing so glad to see the back of 2017.

A good run of Skate have arrived keeping the rods busy along with shed loads of Whiting some of which are very good size for eating. Also some jumbo Pouting amongst them. The water has now got the chocolate brown colour that screams Cod, although they are thin on the moment as we head towards Xmas the chances of catching one looks good. Spaces available for groups or next individuals day 9th December. Pic shows some of yesterday's Skate to 10lb.

Despite most people complaining about the lack of cod i have been keeping busy still with some nice thornbacks and lots of quality whiting which make for good eating and keep the rods nodding .

I have done it again just like last year and today just caught the first codling which was not huge but a sizeable 46cm and a nice fat fish.
I remain optimistic and my recent trips have seen all the anglers catching nice bags of fish and my recent reviews reflect the happy customers satisfaction.
Theres plenty of fish waiting out there people but you wont catch them from your armchairs .
The good thing about the area i operate is we seldom get blown off -

Onboard was yours truly, Mark Curtis, John Stone and Ricky Graham also along for the ride was Craig Smissen. Weather was glorious sun was shining, no wind and sea was flat calm allowing us to push out a fair way. Fishing was fast and furious with Skate, Dogfish and Whiting coming onboard. Enough of that after a while so a move was called for. Again we were plagued with Whiting with the odd Skate and Dogfish still showing. The highlight of the day was the landing of two big Gurnard, the lucky captors were John Stone (3lbd ) and Mark Curtis (2lbd ) All in all a good day afloat and our thanks go to Jason and Stuart. As Arnie said, " we will be back ". -

Report on-board Duke IV
Summer has hung on for as long as possible with the water temperature staying high we have been catching Bass, Mackerel and Scad on feathers and lugworm right up to November. With the wind picking up colouring the water we will be catching more Whiting and hopefully a few Cod. Skate fishing has been patchy with good numbers one day then struggle to find some the next. With a few large Cod being caught in the nets they are around so well worth fishing for with the chance of a large Bass or Skate along with good size Whiting. Plenty of weekdays and some weekend dates available on Duke lV. Flynn showed us how to catch Skate with the beauty pictured that he released.

A lovely day out today with a wonderful crew. We lost some big fish (Almost certainly Tope on one occasion & Bass on the other), landed a total of 12 species including Brill, Bass & John Dory and yet still have a nagging feeling we could have done better.

Weather looks settled for the next week and Cod appear to be present in sufficient numbers to actually target them so we have a little of that planned in the coming week.

Been super busy of late so not the usual updates.

In summary - we’ve been putting in the miles and hitting offshore marks at every opportunity targeting Turbot & Brill whilst the wrecks are not yet up to speed. Had some amazing days and even the slower days have seen us boating around a dozen keepable flatties each trip.
Latter part of the season has seen an abundance of cuttle snaffling baits before the flatties can get to them - the upside of that is a discovery that cuttle seared in pepper & chilli is quite special!
Water temps remain very high which is holding the summer species so I expect we will continue on the Turbot/Brill/Bass trips for the next few weeks at least.
Big rays are becoming more frequent with Big Blondes really testing the 12-20lb class gear and we are averaging 9 species of fish per trip so plenty to keep us guessing what’s putting the bend in the rods.
This month is full, opened up some new dates for 1st week of November so if you would like to get out drop me a line.
Best wishes

The end of August and this month so far has given us the odd day of nice weather to get out fishing.

We have been getting some Turbot and Bard Gunderson brought out his 2 sons out for a days fishing. They had some nice Turbot on the day.
On the day there were about 50 Turbot caught on the day. There are also a few Plaice on the inshore marks along with some Underlate Ray and Thornbacks showing as well. There are also some nice Black Bream showing too.
Looking forward to fishing throughout September and hoping that the weather stays kind. We are also still enjoying the move to Brighton Marina, which offers a wide range of restaruants and bars to enhance the day. -

Report on-board Delta Sunrise.
1st September and another day out with Alan on Delta Dawn. Ideal conditions and after catching enough mackerel for bait, we started the serious fishing. Alongside the ubiquitous dogfish, we caught smoothounds, tope and 3 species of Ray, Blonde, Thornbacks and Undulates. Angler of the day (again) was Mick who landed 2 glorious Undulates and 1 Thornback, the first of the Undulates was well above 20lb and the other 2 not far behind. To round off the day we took a few more Mackerel for the table, all other fish were safely returned. Thanks for a good day Alan. Richard M
