    Report on-board Kayleigh-L

We charter this boat each year for wreck fishing as Andy Harris, the owner/skipper, always finds us the fish - his a great skipper and excellent boatman. Our last trip was on the 22 August 2015 and from the start we had steady flow of Cod on the boat. Andy is very skilled at putting you right on the wreck and no drift is wasted. he also knows the local wrecks very well and has a good idea as to what kind of fish we can expect to find and where they will appear on the wreck. What was a surprise to us all on this particular trip was when a very good sized John Dory came up on a sidewinder lure.

    Report on-board Duke IV

Superb fishing off Ramsgate for now with good size Bass, Skate and Smoothound. The Belgium fysching club enjoyed their week landing quality fish every day aboard Duke IV. They topped off their catches with Skate to 11lb, with Bass and Hounds to 8lb. Most fish came to lugworm with Skate preferring the Mackerel chunks.  We have been plagued with dirty water over the last few weeks that has made Mackerel fishing difficult although the water ia clearing now giving us a better chance with the feathers, along with the Mackerel a few Bass and gurnard kept it interesting. Now is the best time for large Bass, a waiting game although the Hounds and Whiting fill in the gaps. The odd Codling starting to show up so fingers crossed for this years cod fishing that should start in October and go through the winter. The Skate fishing can be good throughout the winter along with Whiting keeping the angler's busy. I like to try the wrecks in September for the Cod that build up prior to coming inshore for the crab and small Whiting that make up there diet through the winter. I have spaces left on a wreck trip on Wed 9th September.
So plenty of action to be had with space and date's available to book Duke IV

Report on-board Moonstone - now Why Worry!

    Saturday 8th August report

Finally we got some great weather with sunshine and a flat sea.
Small tides meant we could push a bit further out on the inshore grounds in search of a variety of fish.
On our first mark we rode out the ebb tide and caught around 20 tope and a few dogfish. When the tide turned I decided to try another mark for a few rays.
    The crew were not disappointed!
The largest was an undulate that went 17.5lb...another of nearly 15 and a few thornbacks that also went a good size.
The crew were catching all day and went home happy....a very successful trip all in all.

    Alan

    Report on-board Hurricane

Well guys a good start to the summer with tons of thornies which were very obliging then the hounds appeared and are still hungry for crab baits if you can get them.
Bass around in fair numbers to ragworm baits but beware the new rules from the fisheries board only 3 bass per angler and new size limit 42cm great news as this looks after our sport for the future.
Theres plenty fish out there guys but you wont catch any wathching the telly so give me a call and come out for a rewarding day.

  • 09/08/2015 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

    Report on-board Duke IV

The Hounds are heading south now as they have finished the breeding process for this year, these are fit healthy fish that put up a hell of a struggle when you hook into one as my grandson found out the other day. Marley caught this 8lber on a lug/squid cocktail and was happy to release it.
Now is the time for large Bass, these fish can turn up anywhere, but l have some spots where they are more likely, fishing a bait large and tough enough to beat the doggies is the main ingredient to success along with patience, 10lb+ Bass are rare fish now, but with the increasing protection being given to them we may see a return to the numbers we used to get some years ago. All these big Bass are female so returning them is a good idea! Plenty of Mackerel so far this summer although the water has coloured up lately making them difficult to catch for bait, always bring some along just in case. The Skate fishing so far has been superb with plenty all this year, with most of them being released, particularly the females that we have landed to over 15lbs. Still dates available on Duke IV for individuals or whole boat bookings! Tight lines Bob
