    Report on-board Spitfire

Hello to customers old and new .

As some of you are already aware I have been asked by Ken to take over the running of spitfire for the foreseeable future . I was in the process of looking at different boats trying to find something suitable for myself when I was asked . This suits me at the moment and am only to pleased to take the helm and build the business for him for the next few years .
Spitfire is a lovely boat and has had a lot of money spent on her . There is plenty of room on her and she sits lovely at anchor while fishing . With an onboard toilet and oven for your use and cabin heating those cold frosty are made more pleasant .
The fishing of late has been very good and there are plenty of Rays out there smoothounds are starting to show and a few bass have been reported around the Kent coast .
Everything can be supplied . There are rods and reels and buckets of tackle for use .
Give me a call Steve skipper !

  • 17/05/2015 Fishing Report by Rob Thompson on Phosphorescent 'WH1' (Lymington, Hampshire)

17 May 2015 by Rob Thompson

    Report on-board Phosphorescent 'WH1'

I arrived back from a month at sea doing the day job on Wednesday 13th May and headed straight to Phosphorescent to get her sorted for a weekend on the water. Although we have done some great trips between Xmas and now it is this month that I class as the start of our season. Bream and Bass are the main targets this month with Bass taking precedence over the coming weeks and a lot of lure fishing going on too. My Sandeel tank is almost set up and will be getting it's first residents shortly....off up there today to finish putting it together and then it's the struggle with 500 litres of fresh sea water to fill it up!!!

Anyway on to the fishing. As I said in my last report the Bream are now showing in good numbers along the coast and X'church Ledge produced some cracking fish at the weekend. Lots of fish over 2lb with some beasts in the 4-5lb Bracket too. Sunday saw us catch 45 fish in a mad hour and half when after a slow start the fish came on with gusto. The lads had enough fish for the freezer and were keen to have a go for a bass too. We tried unsuccessfully for mackerel but had our trusty FIIISH Black Minnows and a couple of live pout in a bucket from the mornings breaming. Conditions on the Bridge were far from ideal with a big sea due to the full ebbing tide and about 20kts of SW wind over the top if it. A variety of methods were deployed and it was Rod who came up trumps landing a couple of lovely fish...one on a Pouting the other and largest on the Black Minnow. Can't wait to get back out there this week after the weather settles a bit. There are plenty of Stingray, Smoothound, Bass and Bream along the Solent foreshore right now so if you are interested in an evenings super light tackle madness catching these species - Feel free to give me a call. All best, Rob - 07725 563562.

  • 15/05/2015 Fishing Report by Steve L on Seabreez3 (Brighton, East Sussex)

    15 May 2015 by Steve L

    Report on-board Seabreez3

A long awaited trip out with all the lads on a boat we have heard nothing but praise about & after a few last minuite dramas we finally arrived on mass at Brighton on friday morning.
We were welcomed straight away be Terry, who introduced us all to Jay, & after the obligitory safety speech off we went.
Most of us had never been sea/wreck fishing before & this was explain to our hosts, to say they were attentive is an understatement, they both were as keen to impart there knowledge as we were to catch fish & we were not disapointed, although the weather was a littl choppy at the start this soon settled to a fantastic day out, i had for the first time both my sons with me, &, at one point all 3 of us were hooked up at the same time , it just doesnt get any better than that, the day ended with a good haul of cod, pollock, whiting, & pouting.
Terry & Jay are fantastic hosts both patient, informative & humours the kept a weathered eye on every member doing there utmost to ensure every one caught even to the degree that if one of us tangled they were straight onto us getting us sorted & back fishing.
I cannot praise Terry, Jay, & seebreez3 enought one of our best trips out, i hadnt even got home before some of the lads that had not been before were on the phone asking for another trip to see Terry,be assured i will be calling him real soon.

  • 10/05/2015 Fishing Report by Alan Milford on Moonstone - now Why Worry! (Littlehampton, West Sussex)

10 May 2015 by Alan Milford

Report on-board Moonstone - now Why Worry!

A final break in the weather allowed us to get out with regular crew from South East Anglers.

The lads wanted to target Black bream on the Kingmere Rocks 5 miles out from Littlehampton.

There was a bit of a swell but nothing too bad so we set off at 7am and after a 30 minute steam we were on our first mark.

Within 20 minutes the first Bream were landed...healthy males around the 3lb mark.

As there were only 4 guys on board I stuck a rod out myself......a simple flowing trace with a size 1 Sakuma 450 Chinu loaded with half a squid head.

After netting a couple of Bream for the lads I thought I'd better check my bait. It felt like it was snagged in the rocks at first, but then it moved and was very heavy!

After a few minutes a nice Undulate Ray came to the surface....estimated at around 17lb and safely returned. Unbelievable on a bream hook!

The tide turned and the fishing died off so we steamed West to a Ray mark....and it didn't disappoint.

We had some nice but small Thornbacks and a succession of smaller female bream to finish the day off.

All in all a good day out with some good fish....and the Sakuma Chinu's doing the business again.

  • 04/05/2015 Fishing Report by Alan Milford on Moonstone - now Why Worry! (Littlehampton, West Sussex)

4 May 2015 by Alan Milford

Report on-board Moonstone - now Why Worry!

A brief let up in the weather allowed us to get out yesterday.

The conditions were much better than expected so we headed out to the Kingmere Rocks in search of Bream.

The crew was organised by regular Jim who later wished he had insisted that half of them hadn't gone out on a session the day before.
Needless to say these guys were not well for most of the day, leaving Jim to catch the fish.

First on board was a nice Pollack followed by a few Wrasse.

As the tide turned we finally got into some Bream, and that was how we carried on....steady fishing with some nice fish landed.

The best bream were landed on Size 1 Sakuma Chinu hooks on a simple flowing trace and squid baits.

More wind this week so fingers crossed we get a settled period soon!
