So last trip we went on didn't quite go to plan. We started off on a high. Going out to sea it was like glass seeing all the boats out at sea we knew it would be a good day. Once at the mark we caught some bait and the decided to drop the anker. when we started off we caught many different types of fish started off with plaice dabs mackerel pout gurnard dogs smoothies and ells once the tide turned we started to catch rays with some big ones being landed. Then the wind picked up and we lost a crew member to sea sickness so we tried to go in close but it made no difference so I called the boat trip early and headed to the marina so they could recover.

So today I had Tony and the gang onboard and I have to say it was an extremely hard days fishing.
Firstly, we was ment to catch smoothies but ended going on a species hunt
We started off the day heading west in search of smoothies, but when we got to the first mark it was made apparent that the wind would quickly be the death of the smoothound trip. We weren't able to get a straight line at anchor. Infact we sat beam on to the sea witch made fishing impossible. After the first hour we did manage a couple of species, dabs /dogs, gurnard and mackerel. It soon died so we decided to go abit futher out hoping that the tide would push us round. How I was so wrong!
As we got offshore we put the anchor down next to a wreck. We managed some pout Pollock and weaver fish off the wreck and then decided to come back in to see if we could catch some bream. This was worse off then where we was at anchor, Moving back to our original spot to catch bugger all. After sitting in nearly 2mtr swells all day I said to the lads we would try for some plaice close to shore. we headed to the break water for some cover but with no joy just sitting meters from the Habour entrance with no where to hide. We cut the trip short and headed for home. 7 species isn't bad I suppose, but it was such hard work. There's always a next time.

So yesterday we had a birthday party on board lovely bunch of kids. First port of call was for me to stop off at #toolsandtackle in Newhaven where I picked up some snakes. my god I've never seen ragworm like it needless to say they were good. After seeing Sam I popped down to the boat. Meeting with Paul at #fortroadcafe this was the meeting point for my crew. We got to know eachother up by the café one of the kids think his name was cass said about catching mahi mahi so I new right then I had alot to prove. Once aboard I gave a quick breif and we was off to our first spot. Thaught I would give it ago on the lures. And it was quickly aparant it was going to be utter Chao's. After loosing quite a few lures and snapping a rod I decided enough was enough and managed to go onto the sand.this was also a wrong moove as we where all getting in a muddle and tangle's Galore. Me being a good sport I took it all In my stride.

After all of the mess and Chao's I decided that I had to do something very simple yet very much pleasing. So after thinking to myself what I would do if I was a kid I had a brain wave and thaught about what #brightoninshorefishing fishy rob has told me. So with that I moved to a little bit of very basic fishing and bingo we had hit the jackpot. Fish after fish started coming over the side. We started off catching some pout but then bream plaice dabs small Pollock that all started to come over the side of the boat. Apart from all the loss of tackle seeing those kids face's light up made it all worthwhile for me.

This is why I love my job

So what a day family fishing day out. 4 out of the 5 species we're new to them so that made so happy. So we're do I begin. First stop for me was to #fortroadcafe
At #newhavenmarina to pickup today's crewand what a day to go heavy sea's and strong winds made it nearly impossible to fish. But on the other hand it makes things interesting. So we headed west to go for some general species and we ended up with some. I've congers and bream with an additional pout to throw in the mix along with a spider after we caught a few fish I decided to head east to catch some plaice and we was rewarded with some nice plaice and dabs after hitting the sand we chose to do some lrf fishing close to the habour but the winds decided to not play ball ending up being to rough so I called a day to it and needlessly to say the family went home happy. Looking faward to seeing them again soon.

Completely sold out this week now till Monday

    Fishing update Newhaven

    Like ans share my page

So Sunday started off with a very early start with Stuart and Scot again with the #piratelure onboard. So meeting up with them at #kestrelwarriornewhaven in #newhavenmarina by #fortroadcafe I was looking at the green in the water thinking it was going to be a hard slog. I told the lads my thaughts and we proceeded to get to it. Once we got out to sea we saw a few anglers fishing on the west arm. We thaught we would start close to the wall with no luck moving on west abit still no fish.
We then decided to go to splash point as this always produces fish. On the way the fog came down out of nowhere reducing the Vis to nothing. As soon as we got to splash point the fog cleared to reveal a stunning backdrop. But needless to say the water was still very green. We fished and fished to no avail. So on the way back I told the lads the next trip is free as I'm nice like that. Sadly my second and third sailing never showed up. So I did some work to the old girl instead.
