Pirates Spotted On The Brighton Seas 3 September 2020

We had the great honor of La Barbe Bleue, join us for some lure fishing on the Brighton Seas. For those not knowing your French, La Barbe Bleue translates to Blue Beard. He is also known as Simon, top gardener, and keeper of Brighton Marina, he’s the guy that makes the Marina look colorful.
We thankfully had great weather on the Brighton Seas for the first few hours and was hopeful of good return as of the previous day. Well, the silvers didn’t disappoint, back to where yesterday’s feast happened, and the first cast yours truly was straight into a bass, quickly followed by Simon. He was well chuffed that 10 minutes in we were 2 on the board already. The next cast he hits into another Bass, which was landed, photo opportunity kissed and put back, could this be another brilliant day.
Chasing The Bass and Mackerel Into the Reefs of the Brighton Seas
The Brighton Lure Boat moved west on the Brighton Seas to another reef where I had success earlier in the week. We positioned up and the first drift produced another good fish, Which didn’t disappoint. Simon all the time getting takes even on the drop once I showed him a small technique which he hadn’t seen before. The sounder was showing well with baitfish, and we had around 5/6 shoals of mackerel driving than to the surface and making the sea boil. I did wonder if this put the bass off our tiny lures, we had a couple more fish.
The breeze started to increase and our sunny day became overcast dull and grey. Which for some reason made the fish disappear the score count 7 landed 2 lost at the net and 5 drop-offs.
Brighton Lure Boat This Week
For the last three days over 20 Bass caught and all were returned, If anyone is lucky enough to catch the Bass that has a hook and Black Minnow in its mouth please let me know!UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat

Simply The Best, 10 Of The Best. Brighton Sea Fishing 1 September 2020
View Boats Page
A busy week ahead for some Brighton Sea Fishing and first up today returning for a second run on the Brighton Lure Boat, Theo & Izzy, both course anglers, and now very keen lure anglers, last time out on the Brighton Lure Boat we had stunning weather along the Brighton Coast, with the neap tide, optimistic for today’s weather and tide we were hopeful the Brighton Seas would produce a bounty.
We moved out of the Brighton Marina to met with a bit of swell and sunshine, the two lads were in deep conversation about Brighton Sea Fishing and the morning ahead, The Brighton Lure Boat had to stop due to the enormity of the shoal which showed on the sounder, we followed this for a few minutes only for it to disappear as quickly has it had shown.
They say, football is a game of 2 halves, our first 90 minutes was pretty dull hardly anything showing only a few takes but nothing concrete, so we moved out further and the next 90 minutes was full-on, Theo was first to catch, his words I think “I have something!”
Well a stonking first Brighton Bass for him, this was what I was hoping for a constant stream of takes and fish. Izzy was next, with me at the same time, that’s a first for me, who gets netted first, Izzy in the net. Followed by mine, quick dual photo of the catches, and back they went. Our count for the morning or the second half was 4, with Theo having the best fish of the day, the baitfish were abundance plus some topwater action by Bass munching happily around the gulls.
An hour in and our count is up to 6 with 4 drop-offs, 35 minutes left on the clock could we get to double figures, Our next drift around Izzy into a fish, then Theo seconds later also hits into another silver. Again who gets the net, Theo landed, quickly followed by Izzy’s fish.
Tick, Tock For Brighton Sea Fishing
Time running out could we make 10 fish in total, that was the challenge, and yes achieved with the last cast of the day, on the score count Izzy 4 Theo 2 yours truly chipped in with 4 as well.
The hard work put in by the boys and listening paid handsomely. Well done and good luck in your college year ahead.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat

Report on-board Brighton Lure Boat
Today’s Brighton Sea Fishing adventure was with George ( Dad ) Jack eldest and Harry, Dad and Harry returning from last years adventure, which wasn’t the greatest, so I had a challenge and a plan but noticed Jack was rather quiet, I found out he has a fast Motorcycle and had a track day, he crashed at around 180 miles hour, hence he was feeling a bit down in the dumps, hopefully, some Brighton Sea Fishing on the Brighton Lure boat would change that.
View Boats Page
Only to be met with a cross swell, which I’ve not seen for a while, thinking could make the drifts difficult. I find doing a couple of test drifts gives you a good measure of what to expect from wind, swell, and tide.
The 4th drift and our first fish of the day, Harry is into a Bass, around 2.5lb, the SPEED on the drift increased from .8 up to 1.5 in 25 minutes. Not deterred by this, we continued on and we Jack in next, also camera shy, but his wrasse of near 3lb gave him a good thump, and fight, this started 90 minutes of fish to the net on every drift.
Harry again into another bass, not a monster but good fun, Jack also hits into a bass, what of George, he got involved with Red Gunard, and a jumbo mackerel, as for the skipper, small bass and small pollock, Harry in the meantime continued with mackerel and Brighton Caught Pollock, Jack again into Mackerel and a lost bass.
Changing Winds
Then an hour before high tide WE headed to another reef with a few takes plus more jumbo mackerel, as with previous days the Worthing Sea Breeze which affects Brighton Sea Fishing arrived around 12.30, that was our trip over with, perhaps the wind farm extension starting to gear up might change this phenom, we wait to see.
They took back to Hampshire Pollock and mackerel for tea, and feeling of well being of having great morning although Jack and Harry wanted there Fast Food Fix.
Great to see people returning and thoroughly enjoying their fishing trip, there back in September for another trip out, Georges turn for a silver., Lets hope he hits into big one.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat

I now believe meteorologists use a crystal ball and a wind feather , to predict the days ahead, gentle breeze they said, 15 knot easterly we got!!

Thanks to Ronnie , first venture out on the BLB , was disappointing but not without small reward.
Bass seem very sceptical to temperature changes and wind direction, enough of the Micheal Fish weather report, fish were the hardest to find.
We were met with silty clarity and weed up to 4 miles out in some places, the easterly started to gather some pace and I believe turned the silver bars off, Ronnie managed to save the session with around 2.5lb Silver, we had takes but not the normal aggressive attack.
Nice to be out, but bass stuffed with spiders , we need the blow for them to work it all off and get back to the new normal!
I’m sure we will see Ronnie back another time soon,UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat

The sun shone on the good and patient today for the Brighton Lure Boat, first 90 minutes was hard work due to very keen chilly north wind only a few knocks, thankfully the wind dropped off, and temperatures rise, and so did the action.
View Boats Page
We ventured out a little further, due to the speed the Brighton Lure Boat produces on virtually any sea we arrived within minutes, we were rewarded some great sport too, Geoff first into a great silver, around 3.5lb, then the Skipper had a couple of schoolies.
Back around again over the fishing spot again, Geoff shouts fish on, the fish stayed deep, me from experience this was something special, he had fish on for around 5 minutes never seen a rod thumped so much, At one point I thought I would have to wipe his brow, his concentration was immense, from the depths of the clear sea a monstrous silver emerged which fought all the way 7-8ft down she took one last dive and sadly won the battle, estimate poundage and size 12-15lb over 130cm.
Geoff needed 5 minutes due to the immense tension enormity of the fight took out of him, I did feel his pain! On the next drift across Geoff again hits into smaller fish landed and sent back to the depths.
The wind had changed over past 20 minutes which made for a strange U shaped drift, Geoff not deterred by the earlier loss had yet another great silver, photo taken and the bearded smile says it all.
We continued on till the session came to a close, with another 2lber landed and put back as was all the fish caught today, it’s thanks to Geoff and the Brighton Lure Boat for a great morning and 7 up for the morning.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat

Brighton Lure Boat The John Wayne Adventure
View Boats Page
The week continued as did the weather, for the Brighton Lure Boat, we had John and Wayne out on there first fishing adventure for nearly 40 years, on holiday in Brighton for the week, they fancied a sample of catching Sussex silvers.
We were meet with a swell which was the aftermath of previous days afternoon breeze! So with guidance in gentle casting technique, they soon got into the swing of getting the lure away to a good distance.
Our first stop for the Brighton Lure Boat
Was the rocky reefs, a popular spot for Brighton Sea Fishing and Brighton Charter Fishing. Wayne had the first fish of the morning, around 2lb, John joined in but his dropped at the net. We continued for another hour, a few takes but with the very little tide, this didn’t help the fish hitting lures, mouthed and dropped.
We continued on to another outcrop of rocks, and within 10 minutes of the drift and the tide had started to flood, the wind had dropped off, we had action-packed hour more ways than one, Wayne was in again to the silvers, we took a photo taken and striking resemblance to a blues brother, think it must be his ear to ear smile, John was camera shy although he did manage 3 fish as did Wayne, John he was ok catching but didn’t want the glory for the world to see.
The breeze was on its way in which put paid to continue, safety first and forecast. In total 9 Silvers 1 wrasse, no monsters but great banter, all in all, another great time to be fishing in Sussex on the Brighton Lure Boat.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Brighton Lure Boat
