Today we set out to try our luck on a few offshore wrecks, despite the freezing temperatures. We caught the 7.30 lock this morning and after a couple of hours steaming we arrived at our first wreck, which happened to be a sub and caught one or two pollack. As the tide was a bit slack, we decided to move approximately 7 miles west taking in a couple more wrecks on the way, which also produced one or two more fish. In my opinion, all in all an eventful day, with the biggest pollack being over 13lb with some nice gurnard and only one bass, but at least I have found a few more new wrecks that produce!

    Report on-board Yellowfin

The wreck fishing season started today with a choppy day out in mid channel, drifting over wrecks with shads and sidewinders, not the best of conditons with wind and tide the drifts overs the wrecks was about 4knots, but the hardened wind swept wet crew still managed to catch some nice plump winter bass and pollack, so the year has got of to a not to bad start, some spaces left on some of my weekend trips,so hurry up before they go.
    Tight lines to all.

The weather has now started to get a bit colder, which means that the larger Cod are starting to show. It won't be long before we start going out to the wrecks for some good sized Pollack out of the south west of Newhaven.

There have also been some nice flatfish on the inshore ground marks stil showing. We will stay on the inshore ground marks for another month or so before we start going deep sea wreck fishing with the lures.

We still have a few spaces over the festive season - if you fancy a day out, check out the calendar and give Dave a call.

    Report on-board Grey Viking

Well the winter Cod season here in Brighton is hotting up so just a quick report to keep you up to date. The weather has been kind and we've been out 8 days of the last 10, almost unheard of in winter!

A few Cod are putting in appearance most days but as always some days are better than others. Most of the fish are good doubles with some smaller ones too, in fact I can't recall a winter throwing up so many different year classes of fish, which has to be good for the future!

Highlight of the week has to be the 27lb 8oz fish caught by Chris Mitchell last Friday, one of 5 landed that day. We also did well yesterday landing 5 good doubles to 17lb 8oz and unfortunately losing 3 more! This to a charter of 2 lads so quite a result!

You stand a VERY good chance of seeing a personal best so pick up the phone and book a trip, you'll catch nowt sat indoors!

Call Ray on 07850 171722 to book a trip.

There have also been some cracking Whiting up to 2lb 8oz. The bigger Cod seem to running a bit deeper over the last month or so. It won't be long before we are running to deeper water wrecks for the bigger Cod.
We are getting busy now with bookings for next year, so if you fancy a trip, book early - contact Dave on 07966 377145.

1 Dec 2012 by Terry Lee

    Report on-board Seabreez3

What a start to the 1st December!

With the Cod showing in plentiful numbers and the boats from Brighton Marina reporting some good catches of cod.Whiting etc

Mick Pullens crew whilst fishing on Seabreeze3 on the 1st December caught some lovely cod with Warren Wood landing two of his personal best one of 23lb 8oz,and 22lb 8oz and Jane Pullen landed an 8lb cod along with a large amount of the dreaded whiting.

On the Sunday 2nd December, Andy crew from London also caught some excellent cod, with Haydn Watkins landing his personal best of 25lb cod, caught on a bait of cuttlefish and squid on a panel rig. Soon followed by Steve Burgoyne landing a cod of 15lb on squid and cuttlefish also. Next it was Andy Wiles turn with a fine cod of 19lb. After a short break Andy then caught another one, not so big this time but a respectable size. Then it was Geordie Staines turn with a good size cod of 16lb.

All I can say guys is sit there with a big bait of cuttlefish and squid and don't get impatient, that's all you need to do to catch them

We still have some spaces left over the Christmas and New Year season, For Cod fishing visit www.Seabreeze3.co.uk Or give me a call on.(Tel/01273 585372) We are now taking bookings for 2013

  • 11/2012 Fishing Report by Ray Burn on Grey Viking (Brighton, East Sussex)

    Nov 2012 by Ray Burn

    Report on-board Grey Viking

The Cod came inshore from the wrecks quite early this year and we've been catching consistently since the third week in October, with most of the action only 4 to 8 miles from the Marina. So the Winter Cod season is well under way!
We've had a fair few mid doubles in the 14lb to 16lb class and the best so far was caught on by Mike Pile on the 11th November, a proper "mud pig" of 24lbs. So if you are seeking a personal best Cod now is the time!
There are also some smaller Cod about in the 6lb to 8lb class which we've not seen this last couple of winters and that's a good sign for the future.
Our normal winter tactics of fishing big cuttle baits on 8/0 pennel rigs has been working well but this year we've also found scaling down works better some days. This means using black lug tipped with a strip of cuttle on a 6/0 hook.
In addition to Cod there are still a fair few decent Plaice and Bass around plus Whiting, Gurnard, Pout and the like. The other day we had a specimen Tub Gurnard of 4lb 2oz so you never know what might turn up!
If you fancy a crack at a personal best give me a call on 07850 171722
