The past months fishing has been generally good with Skate being the most reliable species, up to 20 of these lovely fish in a day. Along with the Skate, Smoothound numbers are increasing and as the week's pass they will increase in size. Mackerel fishing is good when the water clears along with school Bass around the banks. Joule of the Belgium fiching club landed a fine fish of 6lb 8oz. Yesterday's trip was tough due to the persistent cold North wind we have been suffering but we ended the day with 6 Skate to 10lb 8oz along with Smoothounds, pout and the ever present doggies. Prospect's look good with improving weather and clear water forecast. Still some weekend dates available so come along and make the most of the quality fishing we are enjoying off Ramsgate now. Pic shows yesterday's Skate with the winter jackets needed in the cold wind.

Went out with Dean again today, the 3rd June 2016. Very overcast and a bit choppy and not looking too promising. As usual Dean pulled it out of the bag and managed to get us on the fish, moving marks 7 or 8 times to search them out. We had turbot, bass, whiting, Pollock, pouting, plaice, dab, gurnard, mackerel, dogfish and a bunch of Sandeels. We even had a visit from UK Border force to make sure we weren't trying to better the country illegally. Nothing is too much trouble for this skipper, his boat is immaculate and he keeps the tea and coffee coming all day. Highly recommended

Another busy day on Lady Ann,, Smoothies really showing in numbers now, still havnt had that first elusive double yet, it could be you. Action was fast and furious from the first cast. Still plenty of Skate about as well. All anglers had plenty of decent fish. Smoothound's here on the rough ground now with fish averaging 5lb up to mid doubles . Great sport on the right gear.

May 11th, day started very misty and murky but we set off anyway, we were fishing a sandy area with chalk patches. Not long before the usual dogfish started to show then a small smoothound. Bait was immediately changed to peeler or hermit and the action started, Simon landed one of about 5 lbds followed straight away by Steve landing a 9 lbd skate !! Action was steady with Connor boating a 7lbder followed shortly afterwards by Sir M. boating a 9lbder. Several other smaller fish followed and even the Skipper Jason got in on the act.

Still plenty of Skate around, we have caught 13 for now and just half way through the day, still herring is the favourite bait for them but as peeler crab numbers increase more Smoothounds will be caught. Great fighting fish are Hounds so a fine days fishing with a good mix of fish with Bass and Mackerel to the right bait. Also being caught recently Plaice and the odd Turbot ps we ended the day with 26 Skate Whiting and Dabs. Pic shows Paul group with part of today's catch

After what seems a long fruitless winter the spring has arrived and so have the skate in good numbers our weekend trips proved to be good with catches averaging 30 per day all caught photographed and released .
Some nice whiting and dabs also showing but the cod have failed to show .
Smoothounds expected soon with reports of small males already putting in an appearance on some marks
