Report on-board Optimist
Optimist has remained afloat during our stormy winter months going out in the small windows in the weather to get out and on the fish, these have generally been midweek as most weekends have seen winds of force 4 - 6 and above making the opportunities to get out very slim. When we have managed to dodge the weather we have found Pollack on the offshore wrecks when we have managed to get through the many Whiting which have been there in large quantities and of reasonable size. The Skerries is still producing good size Rays with a few Plaice and there is some good fishing to be had with a drift on the Skerries. The inshore marks and reefs are catching well with Bull Huss, Conger, the inevitable Dog fish and Whiting which seem to be everywhere at this time of year. Optimist still has a few available spaces for the summer of 2016 and is looking forward to catching some good fish contact us for further information.

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
At last the cold weather is here and the Flounder fishing has seen some superb catches with the best being 36 in a day, the fish containing spawn are all being returned. Channels, Cod, Congers, Ray's and Spurdog continue to dominate the catches outside the harbour and on the weaker tides the fishing has been exceptional. The outer banks produce some great fishing now until the end of February during what is normally a quiet period inshore, so why not try something different and go for a big Ray or a possible record breaking Spurdog.

January 2016 report
I have already done more trips this month than I managed in the previous two put together so I'm pleased to say I've got a bit more to report this time around. It is usually around this time of year I do the first trips out to the offshore banks to fish for spur dogs and blonde rays but due to the inshore fishing being so good I've only pushed off for a couple of half days so far. Both times have produced good size spurs to 18lb and blonde rays up to 27lb along with the usual huss congers and whiting. Dirty squid seems to be working wonders for the spurs. As January pushes on I'll start to do more full days out there to see if we can make it 3 years in a row with a British Record beating fish, always released after a quick photo. As I mentioned inshore the fishing has been brilliant, possibly due to the lack on days float in December. Good numbers of cod are still appearing along with plenty of congers and whiting. We had the first 2 bass of the year a couple weeks ago at 9lb and 10lb 4oz, both taking squid and cuttlefish combination baits during the tide. The ray fishing inshore has been prolific with all 5 species coming in on the same day on some marks, not all monsters but good fun none the less.

Fishing Report by Ross Parham
on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)
Jan 2016 by Ross Parham
Report on-board Spot On!
After a long winter break with Spot On being ashore for the last 6 weeks for her annual scrub and tidy up etc, it was great to go straight back into the water and have 2 trips straight from the off with lovely calm seas and sunshine.
We steamed out in search of hard fighting winter Pollock and we were not disappointed, a few inshore wrecks held some good size fish but we were in search of more action so another 15 mile steam saw us mid channel were the wreck showed huge signs of life and it showed as the rods were all bent over and line screaming from the reels meant we were in for a good day.
We then moved again as we were in need of a break to be honest but each wreck continued to produce the same stamp of fish.
The fish were a good stamp of between 7-9lb with a good few double figure ones thrown in the mix also.
All in all a great start and an early finish as the lads told me they had caught enough which is always great to hear, so they filleted there catch and had a good scrub down on the way back in to keep Spot On looking pristine. (Thanks guys).
Tops lures were sidewinders although redgills also produced some nice fish as well, we did try some bazinda lures but they did not do so well and the lures fell apart very easy.
Remember you can get your sidewinders on board but please let me know what you want in advance as I carry a limited stock on the boat.
The following weeks should see some bigger Pollock turn up along with whiting and ling.
With already over 200 days booked for this year and already been asked for 2017 dates things are looking good for another great season on board Brixhams premier charter boat and the only catamaran to operate from brixham.
Don't delay and check my availability if you want to join us for 2016.
A big thank you for all my customers old and new for there support and your great attitude and banter on board.
Thanks again to my sponsors SIDEWINDER and TOP RIGS for there continued support and great products.

Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford
on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)
Jan 2016 by Lyle Stantiford
Report on-board Supanova II
************** Potential New British Record Undulate Ray******************
This beautiful Undulate Ray was landed by Southampton angler and Supanova regular, Steve Juggins. Steve believe it or not was fishing for whiting at the time when the big Ray landed on his bait and took off. It was apparent as soon as I landed it that it was a big fish. Steve wanted to ensure the fish remained alive and if there was any risk to the fish he wanted it returned which is what angling is all about. We managed to keep the fish quite happily for the remainder of the day and was weighed on official scales back on land in Weymouth at a massive 22lb 13.4oz.
According to the record lists, this beats the record by over 1lb 8oz. After a brief time for weighing we returned the fish back to the boat where we steamed out to where she was landed and returned strongly to fight another day.
Cracking fish, Well done Steve! Amazing start to 2016.
Also plenty of congers were landed and returned along with additional undulate, Blonde, Spotted and Thornback rays, smoothounds, whiting and pouts and doggies.
Sundays trip was the first look mid channel for the Pollack. A slow start but a few moves found a nice few fish with everyone getting amongst them and the first couple of Ling for the season proves a great sign.
Great to be back out and amongst some more Weymouth quality.
