    Report on-board Warrior II

Hi all, well what a season !! Wed this week marks the end of a fantastic sharking season with the boats from Looe having had almost 800 fish between them and August and Sept for the boats that do a lot of sharking have seen amazing numbers being boated. Dave Keen is down with us at the moment and although in for bad weather today (Mon) and rest of week not looking good, had a great weekend catching 10 on Sat and 8 Sunday the highlight being a very good 100lb er on 16lb line in poor weather did a great job and fought the fish for an hour before we lasso'd her. I was bottom fishing for a few days last week and had a monkfish (anglerfish) which we had for tea the next evening, some nice Ling and lots of Congers so fishing is good at mo. The new shark season starts on Thurs (October 1st) so There will be competition to get the first of new season !!
The Shark Angling Club of GB is going from strength to strength at present with lots of new members from lots of different ports and developments which members will find out about in next newsletter. Well here's hoping the sharks keep coming for a good while yet and will try and give you all a final report for the year next month, all for now, tight lines and keep those hooks sharp !! Pete

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

Sept has been a great month with lots of species and quality fish, several of our trips have been fishing along the piers which has produced good numbers of plaice, gurnards, small bream and the odd cod to 8lb further off to sea Ray's , congers and bull huss have been prolific and as a bonus we have also landed brill and turbot. Trigger fishing has slowed up towards the end of the month but did give some great days fishing. When the weather has been challenging we have reverted to the harbour which gives plenty of sport with wrasse, plaice, garfish, bass, bream and gurnards.
Last Friday the Police SAC fish their boat championship from Poole 16 boats and 120+ anglers took part, the Mistress Linda as reigning top boat had to pull out the stops against some very good boats and skippers to retain her crown which when the scores were in we achieved 1st 2nd and 4th place for the anglers. Now is the time to start thinking about the winter cod fishing so book early and get the best tides.
We are taking bookings for next year charter or individual so if you would like to join us next year please email me.
    All the best
    Phil

    Report on-board Just Mary

Hi All, we spent this weekend drifting 'along the front' from Southbourne down to between the Piers and landed some nice eating size Plaice plus others like Red and Tub Gurnard. Bait was rag and squid cocktail on flowing trace rigs, some with beads and/or spoons to 1/0 fine wire hooks. In these Equinox ('equi' meaning equal day and equal night) big Spring tides, the biggest being on Wednesday coming, the last day of September, and with a freshening North East to East to South East winds, we clearly made the right choice from the start.
With a boat crew of mainly Novices either with hire rods or borrowed rods everyone caught fish and most had something to take home for the table. Thanks, Malc.

    Report on-board Spot On!

As the end of September is approaching Spot On managed a few more trips between the winds recently with some great results.

Wrecking continues to be very productive with Cod, Ling and Pollock and some great numbers of Bass, have all been landed on board Spot On.

At anchor we have seen loads of Black Bream along with Conger, Ling and lots of big Scad.

I had a recent trip to the skerries banks which produced lots of nice plaice with the biggest going 4lb 10oz and again at anchor some good fishing with Blonde and Small eyed rays being caught, other species included a red mullet, whiting, red gurnards, tub gurnards, grey gurnards, dogfish, bull huss and mackerel.

it must be said that the last 3 trips have thrown up some real monsters for Spot On, a 20lb Cod, 4lb 10oz Plaice, 30lb Ling, 10lb Bass and a huge 19lb Turbot for regular angler Chris from Plymouth.

Again a big thanks for my sponsors for there continued support and great products they offer you anglers, who are SIDEWINDER lures and TOP RIGS.

Spot On was again top charter boat from Brixham in this years biggest competition in our area the Torbay Festival.

2016 diary filling fast so book now to avoid disappointment.

  • 09/2015 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Sep 2015 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Well what a windy August/September it has proved to be!!

Plenty of cancelled trips unfortunately but you can't fight mother nature.

When we have been out the inshore fishing at times has proved somewhat tricky, some very nice specimens just hard to find decent numbers of the bream that should be plentiful now. Some sessions are non stop with the bream and the very next day can prove very difficult.

Bass has been a little patchy but some lovely fish falling to live mackerel and large lures. The Turbot and Brill fishing has been steady when the tides are right with up to 15 fish a session which is a massive improvement on last year.

The reef and bank fishing at anchor has been fantastic with plenty of decent undulates, blondes, tope, conger, huss all proving great sport. A few competitions lately that saw some cracking fish boated with the WIBAC conger record being broken with a cracking fish of 86lb. The species hunt days threw up to 20+ different species per boat and the rays and flatfish day saw boats boating and returning up to 50 blonde rays.

The wrecking surprisingly for this time of year has continued to produce a decent run of Cod with the odd Bass thrown in for good measure.

The next month or so will see continued decent fishing for all inshore species with main focus on Bass, Bream and the imminent arrival of the Squid!!!!

Pictured is Keith Blanchard from Salisbury with a new PB Bream a cracker of 4lb 2oz.

Once again a massive thank you to you all who continue to support Weymouth, keeping us the number 1 port in the UK

    Tight lines,

    Lyle

    Report on-board Channel Warrior

Another good weekend on the cod here is the biggest one from Saturday a 24lb,er caught by Paul Lavis on a mackerel fillet and less than 8 miles from the harbour. Sunday we headed off shore to the wrecks and it was cod heaven out there as well, although they were much smaller in the 5-6lb range and the weather was better than what as been all summer
    Tight lines all
