    Report on-board Supanova II

    Hi All,

As April winds up it has probably been my most successful April in a very Long time.

Inshore fishing at times has been slow but over the last couple of weeks has really taken off, Plaice numbers have improved along with Turbot and the arrival of the Bream has been great fun.

Wrecking has just been fantastic, superb catches of Pollack with the first of the Cod appearing. What has made it has been probably the best ling fishing experienced from Weymouth for a decade. Great specimens and anglers with a great attitude to say 'let's try something different' when everyones had a couple of Ling.

May will see all of the above improve, especially the Plaice, Bream and Cod and hopefully the arrival of decent numbers of Mackerel.

May see's me busy with Channel islands work, so watch this space for the happenings over there.

Thanks to all that continue to come to Weymouth and make the port what it is. Keep on coming!! The best boats, skippers and overall angling in the UK.

    Tight Lines,

    Lyle

    Report on-board Warrior II

Due to the winter weather not being kind and letting us get out we did our 1st reef trip on Sunday 26th April and the weather proved to be kinder than was expected !! We caught Mackerel for bait and then had a few Whiting and a Decent Cod on the drift. At around noon we put the anchor down and that was not too bad either - few Ling, Pouts. Wrasse and 3 Congers best at 23lb but the water is warming now ! Won't be long before Congers are really feeding and let's hope the Sharks are early like last year. This is my first report for year and I will try and keep you all up to date as the action starts, Tight Lines and don't forget - the more you go the luckier you'll be !! Pete

  • 20/04/2015 Fishing Report by Sam Cumming on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)

20 Apr 2015 by Sam Cumming

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

    April Report:

It’s nice to be able to write about some good weather happening at Easter for once as the last couple of years haven’t been the best with far too many trips being cancelled. This time around its been high temperatures, low winds and plenty of fish. Flatfish such as plaice and turbot have been great fun over the past few weeks, Finley Palmer won the prize money one Sunday with both the biggest turbot and the biggest plaice of the day. The wrecks are fishing very well at the moment due to the amount of sprat shoals that have arrived this season. Pollock, ling, congers and even the first of the cod are hitting the deck on both lures and live eels which we have been catching on feathers when venturing further to the west. Keen angler Joe Noke showed the more experienced lads how its done recently by landing a 21lb cod whilst others were catching pollock, the biggest cod we have ever had in April. As an added bonus there is an abundance of dolphins around mid-channel feeding on the sprats, we have been treated to some fantastic shows in the calm weather when they are in a playful mood. It’s been the most enjoyable April I can remember so far, now all we are waiting for is the start of the black bream which should hopefully find their way to our baits on Sunday!!

  • 04/2015 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    Apr 2015 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

Wrecking continues to be very productive with one day rewarding the anglers hard work with over 60 ling coming to the boat along with more cod than Pollock, the cod are small with the biggest going 9lb so no pictures yet but things are looking up for the arrival of some bigger cod soon.
The Pollock have now all but spawned and are feeding up very well and are hard hitting which is making for some good sport on light tackle.

The skerries have been fishing superb for this time of year with the 3 consecutive days plaice numbers as follows.
    Day 1 = 102 plaice. Day 2 = 184 plaice. Day 3 = 125 Plaice.
These numbers are summer tally's so this again shows we could be in for a great summer on the banks which are a short steam for Spot On from Brixham, other species included lots of doggies, tub gurnard, red gurnard, grey gurnard and a small turbot.
