April 2015
Spring Plaice fishing from Poole is the best it has been for many years and is well worth a day afloat enjoying this relaxing method of fishing, the offshore wrecks are producing good numbers of Pollack with a few Cod being caught as well, with the arrival of the Black Bream the season has certainly started well.Turbot trips are always a favourite and the catch numbers are starting to improve along with the qualityView Boats Page

Report on-board Flamer IV
APRIL 2015
The fishing on the Wrecks still continues to be very good, producing some excellent Ling and Pollack catches. Also the first Cod are starting to show.On a recent trip John Billett broke his Personal Best Ling record three times which finished with a 20Ib 15oz Ling as his best PB, John was using a Norwegian Herring Lure.Colin Gardiner age 70 something landed three Ling weighing 14Ib 8oz,16Ib 8oz and 18Ib 12oz in successive drops and understandably needed a little rest after pulling up that lot.Lady angler Nicky Trigg did well landing plenty of Polllack up to 12Ib and a 13Ib 8oz LIng,she also caught the first Cod of the year to be caught on Flamer IV during a wrecking trip. Trevor Lockyer had the best Ling of the day a 23 pounder (pictured).
Lures - Bubble Gum Pink Red Gills are out fishing any other lures for the Pollack and Ling are also being caught on them.
In April you can expect to see catches of Turbot and Brill on the Famous Shambles Bank and now is the time for that BIG TURBOT. Plaice will feature on the mussell beds and although they are a bit thin at this time of the year there is still a good chance of 5Ib plus fish.
The Reefs and Banks will produce Blonde and Undulate Rays along with Spurdogs,Bull Huss,Smooth Hounds, Congers etc and may be some Black Bream . The Wrecks should be good for Pollack, Ling and a Cod or two..

Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford

Report on-board Supanova II
As March draws to a close i'm sat here staring out the window with the trees blowing all over the place as another Atlantic Low pressure system is moving through.
Unfortunately this March hasn't been the best for weather, however when we have managed to get out the sport has been good.
Most trips have been Wrecking for Pollack which has been reliable, with plenty of nice fish putting a bend in the rods which is great to see. Last week we had our first look of the season for some Ling, first couple of wrecks drew a blank which got me twitching as to whether they had moved up through the ground yet. The final move proved fantastic with a frenetic hours fishing accounting for some cracking fish.
Such is the strength and depth of the sport Weymouth can offer, if the weather and the tides allow it is possible to break your days up into half wrecking and half inshore if everything is on our side.
A day and a half last week was spent looking for the first spring flatfish inshore, The water still seems a little cold but within a couple of weeks things should begin to kick off properly. Over the day and half period we accounted for 5 Turbot (all returned) and 13 Plaice. Not great by any means but encouraging signs none the less.
The next month should see continued wreck action with Pollack, Ling and the first Cod hopefully. Inshore should now really begin to kick on with Plaice, Turbot and rays the most likely targets and towards the end of the month the arrival of the first bream to the east and hopefully the first run of Mackerel which is surely a sign summer is coming!!!
Pictured is Shane Johnson with his PB Ling of 23lb 8oz
Thanks to all for their continued support to Weymouth and long may you all keep visiting the finest fleet in the UK.
Tight Lines,
LyleView Boats Page

Spring is well under way and so are the fish that come with it. We have seen the start of the pollock out on the wrecks with plenty of sprats marking for them to feed on as well as small cuttle fish. The first flatfish of the year have hit the deck with turbot, brill and plaice all making an appearance on our first trip down west. It is the first season that I have caught a brill before turbot on the banks, I usually think later in the year is better for them. We haven’t had any monsters yet but I think we should start seeing a few bigger ones after this big spring tide coming up this weekend. I’ve mentioned it in the last couple of reports but even now, when they have usually disappeared, the spurdogs are still plentiful out on the banks. Just yesterday the staff from Greenoke Energy managed 14 spurs to 21lb along with 11 blonde rays to 28lb in a day that was none stop action start to finish. I’ve started to use 6/0 circle hooks pretty much all the time for this sort of catch and release fishing as they leave the fish unharmed with the hook point always settling in the corner of the mouth and not further to the back.

A wrecking trip produced some excellent Ling fishing with plenty of double figure fish coming on squid and mackerel baits and on lures along with numerous Pollack.Richard Phillips landed the biggest Ling weighing 25Ib 8oz (Pictured) which won him Flamer IV Fish of the Month for March. Ian Slater landed several Ling up to 22Ib.Ian also won the Pink Lure competion with a 19Ib Ling that took his Pink Red Gill.Xavier Champeau landed two 20Ib plus Ling in succession but was to knackered to hold them up for a photo.John Hinton landed the best Pollack of the trip weighing in at 14Ib 8oz and a new PB for John, the Pollack took a Pink Red Gill. The signs are looking good on the wrecks for Ling and Pollack and it should not be too long before the Cod and some Bass put in an appearance. So DON'T MISS OUT - BOOK YOUR PLACES/TRIPS.

Report on-board Out The Blue
Good start to the spring season after being beaten up for the last few months by gale force 6 and 7's sneaking up behind us. A trip out with my Polish friends yesterday, and a north-easterly 5 down to nothing in the afternoon, with blinding sunshine and flat sea. All topped off with some quality fish ... plenty of Ling, Cod, Pollock, Coalfish and Whiting. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come!
Tight lines everyone!View Boats Page
