  • 31/03/2014 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

31 Mar 2014 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

During March the anchored fishing on the Reefs and Banks was excellent with good catches of Blonde and Undulate Rays along with plenty of Congers,Bull Huss,Smooth Hounds,Spurdogs and the usual Dogs and Whiting. The flatty fishing has been hard going as yet due to the stirred up and poor water clarity as a result of all the winter storms. How ever the signs are there that the flatty fishing is improving at last and should continue to improve during April. The wreck fishing for Pollack etc has also been a casualty of the winter storms and poor water clarity but as we get some settled weather and improving water clarity I am sure the Pollack ,Ling etc will be there to be caught. Flamer IV Fish of the Month for March was awarded to Trevor Lockyer for his Personal Best 16Ib 8oz Undulate Ray(pictured). 14 different species have been caught ion Flamer IV so far in 2014.

  • 29/03/2014 Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)

29 Mar 2014 by Nigel Lihou

    Report on-board Optimist

Well the early part of 2014 has been a bit of a wash and blow out with storm after storm we have taken the opportunity to carry out a mini refit on Optimist (to make things better for you the Angler) and try and get out when the weather permits. The condition of the water around the wrecks and the Skerries Bank is well and truly stirred up and with the fresh water coming down the rivers Exe, Teign, Dart and the Salcombe estuary, this makes the waters extremely brackish and very very cloudy, not good at all for lure fishing. Good news though when we have managed to get out in the last couple of weeks there are a few Pollack returning to the wrecks further offshore as well as the good old Pouting, and plaice on the Skerries. No sign yet of early Cod, or Bass coming on to feed, but as the stormy season subsides and the waters clear we should be in for some very good fishing. Still some dates available for 2014, telephone or email for individual or full boat charters.

  • 03/2014 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    Mar 2014 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

You will all be pleased to know that wrecking is starting to pick up and even with the easterly winds Spot On headed out to the mid channel wrecks, loads of signs of fish on the sounder and the fishing was good with a few fish coming every drift, first fish on board was the absolute cracker of a whiting and a fish of a lifetime that fell to Steve Ford of Brixham Sea Anglers of a fish of 6lb 10oz, and taking the new club record and on the clubs official scales some 10 hours later after being caught it went 6lb 3oz.

Lots of nice Pollock also coming to the net with the biggest around the 10lb mark but as the tide turned the drift was hampered by the stronger growing wind which made life a tad difficult to get the right direction but fish still kept coming but it did slow down.

Spot On is Full time and has loads of great tides still available so if you want to fish for the fish of a lifetime then I will see you on board.

Skerries bank is starting to produce Plaice and an adventure across last week (30 min steady steam) we had quite a few fish and then we went on the Huss and Doggies which were also good fun.

  • 26/03/2014 Fishing Report by Stephen Wake on Channel Warrior (Bridport, Dorset)

26 Mar 2014 by Stephen Wake

    Report on-board Channel Warrior

26/3/14 We headed out to the wrecks today and found I did not need to go too far to find the pollack (half hour from the harbour). All good sized fish the biggest of 8lb caught by Barrie from Cheltenham. The small dark coloured plastic eels did the business. The reef fishing was poor producing a heap of dogs and the same for the plaice but that should change in the next few weeks. There is some good pollack fishing here now, the water temp is well up this year, compared with previous years and my gut feeling is we are in for a good season. If you want to get your self a pb pollack give me a call 07817141425

  • 03/2014 Fishing Report by Trevor Small on Rocket (Poole, Dorset)

    Mar 2014 by Trevor Small

    Report on-board Rocket

    Dear Customers and friends
Rockets diving/angling season started March 9th this year, with bookings taken for most weekends either to fish or dive. Unfortunately my initial concern over water clarity were confirmed on out first trip out. The good news is that the water temp is up three degrees on what it usually is this time of year ,but very much down on clarity. This can only be a result of mild winter and higher than expected rain fall earlier this month. March is usually when we would be fishing mid channel wrecks for hard fighting Pollock. Sadly the lack of clear water in the channel has kept our quarry out of reach. I am confident that things will improve shortly, and we will be back filling fish boxes with your chosen target specie. Over the next few weeks expect the first Bream to be caught close to Poole, and hopefully news will follow that the Pollock are moving towards us from the western approaches. Fingers crossed and thank you for your continued support.

    Regards Trevor

  • 23/03/2014 Fishing Report by Simon Fisher on Becca Marie (Brixham, Devon)

23 Mar 2014 by Simon Fisher

    Report on-board Becca Marie

Fishing the wrecks has been disappointing lately with the water being so coloured, so it was a nice change to for us to begin the first of our regular runs to the skerries banks in search of Plaice.
The weather was certainly not on our side, with a biting fresh north west wind and a very murky water.
That said in the early part of the day we had some dogfish and by late morning the first Plaice was aboard.
The fishing wasnt fast paced but we manage to bag several more and an enjoyable trip was had by all.
Things can only get better now on the banks so we cant wait for the next one!
