REPORT FOR BBCSSAC TRIP 20TH SEPTEMBER 2021:
Bait ordered in advance from Seaton Tackle Shop at £5 per quarter for Rag Worm. Worm in excellent condition dug from Poole with farmed worm.
All anglers arrived at Beer in good time, met by parking attendant and paid the £5 all day fee and boarded boat and set off by 0800hrs in glorious sunshine, mist and light Northerly winds. Stopped once on way to fishing mark to feather for mackerel with no fish caught... decided to cut the feathering short to get to the reef.
Fishing was patchy to start with but with decent sized Black Bream coming to the boat. Dave had the best Black Bream early on with a 2lb 10oz fish.
Lots of small bites but not the ‘plague’ of scad and dogfish we had last year. Fishing down to Low Tide at 11:49 produced a constant fish count with good sized Black Bream and sizeable Mackerel.
Several Conger Eels were brought to the side of the boat for release estimated at 5 to 7lb.
The highlight of the day was a new Club Record for Guy, a Red Mullet at 1lb 9oz, 0.7087kg, it is a 104% record for the Angling Trust Area C Boat Specimen Weight which is 0.68kg.
As the tide picked up after midday the bites increased with in size Black Bream coming to the boat in a steady pattern.
Paul gutted everyone’s catch before heading back in shore. An excellent day’s fishing, perfect weather, great company and fish for the pot.
David’s Black Bream was 74.9% specimen weight. Guy landed a good sized gull which after a good sized peck was released.
As the Boat Competition for 2021 has been postponed due to the impact of COVID-19 no total weights have been recorded.View Boats Page

Report on-board Aries 3
This year has flown by.........
My first year back has exceeded my expectations which began with scrambling to get the boat together to enjoying a great holiday period with lots of holiday makers enjoying the short 4 hr. trips which produced some great fishing consistently well
The Full day trips inshore have been excellent with brilliant mixed fishing at anchor and on the drift some of the species included Turbot / brill / blonde rays / thornback rays / congers / tope / huss / bream / bass as well as all the mini species.
We were lucky enough to be included in this year's WIBAC competition which takes place over 5 days unfortunately I was unable to attend myself and drafted in retired charter skipper rich English ( loan shark ) who showed he still has the touch and finished the week top boat which was great to see the Aries name up there all in all the weather was great which allowed the boats to get out on the good marks and enjoy everything Weymouth has to offer with great fishing had each day. The whole week ran without a hitch all due to the huge amount of hard work Andy and his team at Weymouth angling Centre put in.
We now move into the autumn / winter fishing with bass on the bill and will soon see the winter whiting and hopefully some squid.
Keep your eyes out for more reports coming soon.View Boats Page

The fishing during September has been very good with many species coming aboard and some nice individual fish.
The plaice fishing remains good. There are lots of small fish around but also some bigger ones although we didn't land any 1kg plus fish during the month. The plaice trips are also producing lots of tub gurnards as many as I can ever remember along with small black bream.
The bass fishing continues to improve. The number of fish is still increasing and we have had some good catches. We haven't seen any more double figure fish this month but have landed quite a few thick set fish to over 8lb. They are in prime condition at the moment.
We did another turbot trip during the month. The turbot fishing was very poor but we did land a couple of nice bass and had some great bream fishing to give a very pleasant days fishing.
The anchored fishing has been good. There are lots of congers around. We have also had some nice rays and the occasional bass.View Boats Page

Its the end of another great weekend. Friday seen us out with beginners so we targetted bream, conger eels, with the best bream coming in at 3lb 4oz and the congers coming in up to 40lb. Both proving great sport in the shallow waters around Portland. All in all a very busy day.
Saturday again a group of beginners. We chose to target rays and bream. With the morning providing a great session with thorn back rays up to 12lb and bullhuss up to 8lb. In the afternoon we targetted bream with plenty of action and fish up to 3.5lb before finally finishing off with some congers proving great sport.
Sunday we had a small group that wanted to target bass. We started by catching joey mackerel before heading to Portland race where we had good bass fishing with bass up to 5lb.
All in all a great weekend. Thank you to everybody that came.View Boats Page

Over the last few weeks we have been very lucky to have had great inshore fishing in at times challenging conditions.
we have mainly concentrated on the bream as well as the bass on the bigger tides but also some good catches of turbot and brill as well.
The general fishing has been good with congers , Huss , rays keeping us busy
Yesterday i had a group out that were interested in cod fishing and wanted to know when was best to target them i replied that it has been hard for cod over the last couple of seasons but we would normally target them in June/July time we then arrived at our first mark and first drop they managed 2 cod so the answer from now on is you never no don't listen to me i no nothing.
for the next few weeks we will be continuing with the bream and bass as well as taking part in the WIBAC competition before the winter season starts on the whitingView Boats Page

Fishing Report by John Peck
on Lady Margaret (Poole, Dorset)
Aug 2021 by John Peck
Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing has been good during August after a rather subdued July. August has a reputation as being a difficult month but the last couple of years have produced some great fishing.
The plaice fishing during the month has generally been very good. There have been lots of good sized keepers around and most trips have produced fish in the 1kg range. The end of the month saw a higher proportion of smaller fish and a reduction in numbers. The inshore drifting trips have also been producing lots of tub gurnards and black bream.
Further out the anchored sessions have been producing a nice mixture of fish. The mackerel have been very erratic but there are some big ones around when you find them. There are lots of congers around along with tope and rays in addition to the usual dogfish.
The bass continue to be in relatively short supply but there are some good sized fish around. Our last trip out produced some nice middle weight fish along with a ten pounder our second double figure bass of the year on "Lady Margaret".View Boats Page

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Due to a few days of strong winds we have been restarting fishing inside probably the most beautiful and possibly the largest harbour in the world and it has been brilliant with some decent sized Plaice, Black and Gilthead Bream, Bass, Gurnard, Hounds, Mackeral and Flounders being landed along with plenty of bait robbing sized bream. Drifting the main channel during quiet periods of boat movements has been the most productive but once the main ebb tide gets away the weed has been a problem.

Fishing Report by John Peck

Jul 2021 by John Peck
Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing during July has been a bit variable. There have been some good days with lots of fish coming aboard and some good individual fish landed. There have also been a few days when the fishing has been a bit slow. Generally the weather during the month has been favourable.
The plaice fishing remains reliable with plenty of fish around. We found the average size dropped off during the middle of the month and keepers were more difficult to come by but the fishing of the last few days has produced plenty of fish of a good average size with lots of keepers. The best plaice we landed in July was a fine fish of 4lb 4oz which is our biggest of the year so far.
There are also lots of black bream around. We landed fish to over 3lb at the start of the month but haven't been catching any big ones lately. No giltheads or couch's for us yet but the water is warm now so we may see some soon.
The bass fishing continues to be erratic. Both the ledges and the banks have produced reasonable fishing at times and also some slow fishing. We haven't landed any big fish during the last month.
The anchored fishing has produced a nice mixture of fish. There are lots of rod bending tope and congers around and quite a few rays along with the ubiquitous dogfish.View Boats Page
