Nice to have some good weather and go out a bit further than normal. Lets just say some people had a better trip than others but on the whole most had several nice pollack.Putting in a few miles seems to be paying off as not much showing up on the inshore marks.Well done Dave great trip hope you enjoyed winning your cup.

Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford
on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)
May 2013 by Lyle Stantiford
Report on-board Supanova II
With May now drawing to a close it has been a frantic month with only 5 days lost to weather the rest has been an exciting time with some decent runs at sea which has been a great relief after such a poor start to the year.
The wrecking has been consistent with plenty of Pollack, the arrival of the sand eels has made this a bit easier.
Plenty of decent doubles with the best a PB of 19lb for Dave Edwards.
Cod numbers have been a little down on this time last year but as things are about 5 weeks behind this should improve in the coming weeks.
The nice surprise has been the small tides bringing plenty of LIng which has been great to see and probably the best I have seen for 8-10 years.
Inshore has been a little patchy, the bigger tides has seen improved Turbot catches from April with the best of 16lb 12oz falling to Lloyd Rush. The odd Brill has appeared, Brill catches should improve in the coming months. Plaice has been cracking on the small tides but the larger tides have been more of a struggle.
This last week the first few Bream have appeared along with consistent numbers of Mackerel. This is the latest I have ever known the Mackerel turn up.
The three Channel islands in May were completed with steady fishing on each with one unfortunately being cut short to weather.
Turbot and Brill catches were generally in the 20-30 bracket each day with a 50/50 split between keepers and chuck backs.
The coming month should see Bream, Cod, more plaice and Flatys, Tope arrive in decent numbers inshore, with hopefully continued wrecking action with more Cod featuring.
On another note 2014 DIARY IS NOW OPEN. weekends are filling fast and also Channel islands trips too so get in quick for what you want. I know its early but people keep asking so I have done it.
Thanks again to those that continue to support Weymouth and us grateful skippers.

Report on-board Warrior II
Hi All! So here we are nearly in June, and the fishing has been busy and the number of catches improving on each trip. Had a cracking 29lb cod this Sunday along with some nice Ling up to 14lb. We have had some good size whiting also, and the Congers are just starting to show.
We are still waiting for the water temperature to rise enough for the first Shark, and then the season will really kick in! The diary is very busy, and there are not many weekends left to book for the summer. I still have a few mid week days available so get booking now!

WEST COUNTRY TRIP 20-24 MAY.Trevor Pegg wrote - This was my first experience of Colin,s West Country trip which started with us sailing from Weymouth to our base in Dartmouth picking up some wrecking along the way. With good weather, the following day was ideal for drifting for plaice which saw over 40 fish to the boat. A great bonus is not having to drive long distances after a day,s fishing and the social side with good company is excellent. A good variety of fish were caught with ling to 20lbs and a couple of "firsts" for me. As ever you need to be lucky with the weather but this really is a trip with a difference and to be recommended. Thanks Colin for all your efforts to keep us on fish.
Skippers Reponse: Thanks Trevor, I am glad you enjoyed the West Country Trip and hope you book on again next year.

Report on-board Just Mary
'Oceans Eleven' - 'Onamission' Reunion - Saturday 25th May 2013. One of Eleven Anglers onboard our spacious 35 foot Angling Charter Boat 'Just Mary' from Poole today was my old friend Kevin Gardner. Fishing with me for over ten years, since the early 'Mary Anne' days, Kev's loyalty and our perseverance was rewarded with this prime condition male Black Bream of 3lb 2oz. Also landed from the Same Reef Mark that we fished All Day were further Black Bream, Mackerel in good numbers, Garfish, Pout, Wrasse, Plaice and Dogfish. Bait for this Quality Fish was a single calamari squid presented on a flowing trace with Shimano rod and reel and braid mainline. 'No Fish - No Fee' not needed ! All eleven onboard left for home after their trip with fish fit for the table. After a slow start to the season quality Specimen fish like this one are a welcome sight so was that big yellow thing in the sky (!)..... See you soon !
Many thanks to my old friend Chris Clark for sending this report and photo to the Southampton Evening Echo who published this on Thursday 30th May prompting several phone calls from some of my old Southampton customers.....thanks Chris.....all the best ! Malc.....View Boats Page

Report on-board Silver Spray II
First Cherbourg trip of the year completed. Nice weather and a top group of lads certainly makes the multi day trips easier even before you start fishing. It was nice to see all the lads getting stuck into some good fish over the 3 days with bass ling cod and pollock all making an appearance in varying quantities. The only problem came with the mackerel....we had a grand total of 3 over the trip which was not helpful when it came to fishing over slack water. Still its another 3 weeks until my next one so i expect they will have arrived in more numbers by then.
