Not much to report this month as we have not been doing much fishing due to the boat being lifted out for annual maintenance.
We did some local fishing at the start of the month which produced plaice in addition to a small eyed Ray the first one of the year on "Lady Margaret".

After an extended period with no fishing due to the lockdown it was great to get out to sea again. Both for the fishing and to be able to blast a bit of weed growth off the hull! Due to the restrictions I was just taking a single angler out so just two of us fishing.
Inshore there are lots of plaice around. Mainly small fish but a few nice keeper sized fish as well. One memorable short drift produced eight fish. They are in excellent condition considering it is right at the start of the season.
During the middle of the month there was a period of calm weather coinciding with very small tides which are ideal for deep water anchoring. These produced a nice variety of fish. We caught lots of congers, smoothhound and a nice double figure undulate ray in addition to the ubiquitous dogfish and pouting. The spurdog fishing was slow but we did land fish to just under 17lb. This month has seen some good fishing. We have been fishing local marks at anchor. There have been some nice size blonde rays into the 20lb+ range, whiting, pouting, bass, congers and even a nice bonus brill for one lucky angler.

For once the weather gods were on our side with flat calm seas, perfect tides and sunshine we decided to fish for bream in the morning and at slack Rays then spend the afternoon drifting for plaice. Once at anchor for bream the action was non stop all morning with over 130 being caught and returned then over to Rays and within minutes a fine 12lb undulate was boated along with congers, dogs then as the tide started to flood a slight SW breeze started which helped push us along on the drift and we were rewarded with several nice plaice the best falling to Pete at 3lb 5ozs . Now the weather has returned to gales and rain we look forward to the next opportunity to fish again.

Headed out Sunday for a 4 hour local inshore trip in Poole bay. I had a lovely family from Henley who came do to catch some fish. It was a lovely day. Pete had a very large mackerel and we also had some plaice. Nice to get out over the Bank Holiday.

High water trip on sunday with mark and harry watts. we had a great 4 hour deep sea for harry to see how how hw liked the boat and what a 4 hours he had.he manage to catch rockling,huss,hounds,dogs,eels,pout great first trip for him

It is good to see the arrival of Mackeral, Garfish and the sporting Black Bream over the last few days we have seen catches of Bream increase in numbers each trip along with lots of Plaice up to 11/2 lbs not big fish but on the correct tackle these also provide great sport

Left Poole at 6am and headed down the Shambles Portland Dorset. Just 2 onboard we had 9 Bass and 2 Turbot. Back in Port at 7 pm. A long day but good fishing.
