March 2012 - John Billett age 46 from Frome broke his persaonal best plaice record twice in two drifts.First John landed a credible Plaice weighing 4Ib 2oz and then topped that with a five pounder.Needless to say John was very pleased.John was using 10Ib class tackle with a trace that had lots of coloured attractor beads on and the successful bait was ragworm,black lugworm and a strip of Ammo squid.John is Pictured with his 5Ib Plaice.

Still hard work in the upper channel, but things will improve day-by-day now, a few bass boated last week and the Smoothounds are working their way up the channel, accompanied by the dogfish! Growing numbers of Rays and Conger being reported too - Spring's here!

MARCH 2012 - a recent Flatty trip saw John Bickford from Bristol land his personal best Turbot weighing 16Ib.John was using 15Ib class tackle with a flowing trace and a 4/0 hook.The successful bait was a strip of Ammo mackerel.John's companions also caught some flatty's.John is pictured with his 16 pounder.On the same trip Graham Walsh from Manchester landed an 11Ib Turbot on the first drift.Graham was also using 15Ib class tackle and the successful bait was a fillet of Ammo mackerel.Some of the smaller Turbot caught were released alive to grow bigger and conserve stocks.
THE FLATTY'S ARE HERE SO DON'T MISS OUT.

MARCH 2012 - THE ROYAL HOTEL TOTTINGTON SAC from Bury joined Flamer IV for a 2 day angling break.They landed several species, Turbot,Plaice,Spurdog,Cod,Pollack,Ling,Bull Huss,Conger,Common and Starry Smooth Hounds,Pout,Dogfish,Red Gurnard were caught.Several Personal bests and club records were set and broken.Allen Bradshaw set a new club Spurdog record only to see it broken 30 minutes later when Geoff Mather landed an 18 pounder.Tony Mills landed a 17Ib Undulate Ray which was his personal best and a new club record.Mike Baker caught a 10Ib 8oz Cod which was his personal Best.The Club had a good weekend on Flamer IV and can't wait to come back again on their next trip aboard Flamer IV in October to see if more personal bests and club records can be set or broken.

Sunday the 18 of March was out to fish for Turbot we had 15 turbot from 6Lb tto 12lb 10oz one brill of 4lb and 3 plaice about 1lb8oz to 2lb

Fished in very changeable conditions - from T-shirt weather to freezing northerlies! Ended the day with a few thornback rays (all returned) and some cod "in the box". Had to hunt around the channel to find the fish, we got there in the end!

MARCH 2012 - SKIPPERS DELIGHT - It's not often I get a chance to fish these days but it is nice to see that I can still do it when I get the chance.On a recent trip I landed a Turbot weighing 14Ib 4oz which was brought aboard to a round of "Spawny Git" from the anglers on the boat.I was using a 20Ib class Shakespeare Ugly Stick with a flowing trace and the successful bait was a strip of Ammo mackerel.

MARCH 2012 - THE FLATTY SEASON HAS STARTED - Dave Colclough from Poole landed his personal best Turbot weighing 11Ib 8oz which was his first ever double figure Turbot.He also landed a smaller one weighing 8Ib 11oz.Dave was using 15Ib class tackle with a flowing trace and the successful bait was a a strip of Ammo mackerel.

MARCH 2012 - The offshore wrecking has proved to be consistant on recent trips with good catches of pollack and occassional ling.All fish being caught on lures with the rhubarb and custard sidewinder accounting for most fish although other lures such as red gills and other coloured sidewinders have had their moments.Pictured is Peter Gillett alias " SHREK" holding up one of the pollack he caught and wearing his new Shrek hat given to him for his birthday by me the skipper.Peter was using 15Ib class tackle with a flying collar rig and a sidewinder lure.

what a nice weekend the 10 and 11 of March on saturday and sunday we fish the shambler bank for turbot on saturday we had 14 turbot the size of the fish 4LB to 11LB and one plaice, sunday was the fishing was not so good we had 5 turbot the size of the fish was 6LB to 9 LB ,the sea was flat and the sun was out a nice weekend.
