    Report on-board Optimist

A bit of a mixed weekend - Saturday was constant, cod, whiting, dogs and thornies. Biggest cod of the season (so far!) was boated - see photo.

Sunday was quieter, but still a number of "keepers" on board, including a good few whiting and codling. The whiting yesterday were almost all big enough for a couple of decent fillets!

The channel was flat calm (again) over the weekend, fishing conditions are brilliant for the time of year.

    Hi all
well what a season !! best since I started - 205 (all Blues) up to an official 154lb.
All told 613 sharks from all boats here in Looe so as you can see, we caught our share with our best day being 14 sharks between 2 anglers !!!
Winter fishing now, so those of you feeling tough and needing a day out give me a ring and we'll look at weather.
After such a good year you can imagine bookings for peak times 2012 are already getting scarce so please dont leave it too long to get organised.
New web site almost there, will keep you informed.
Thanks to all that came down, looking fwd to seeing you all next year, - have a great Chritmas and new year,
    Tight Lines, Pete

Seems a long time since my last update.... A good few days at sea, some very good, some good, some average. Cod starting to show in numbers, but more some days than others. Still plenty of Thornbacks around, and the Lesser Spotted Dogs are hanging around this Autumn to fill the slow bits....

Good to see six-year-old Leia Griffiths catch a Thornback on Saturday, see the photo on this site. I bet that grin takes a while to wear off!

NOVEMBER 2011 - WRECKING TRIP - the first three wrecks of the day produced a few pollack during the easing tide and over the slack water period. Then a move to a big wreck as the tide was running produced a hectic two and half hour spell were the action was fast and furious with bass and pollack. The anglers were using 15Ib class tackle with flying collar or Portland Rigs and a variety of lures. On the day a salmon coloured shad was very successful but to be fair when the fish were in their feeding frenzy all manner of lures were used and proved irresistable to the bass and pollack.Pictured is John Bickford from Bristol with his 7Ib 8oz Bass.

  • 05/11/2011 Fishing Report by Trevor Small on Rocket (Poole, Dorset)

5 Nov 2011 by Trevor Small

    Report on-board Rocket

A fantastic start to the 2011 winter Cod season. Our first (and Pooles first) Cod caught on October 15th. Since then we have boated at least one Cod on every trip. Our heaviest fish so far has been an 18lb'er ,but we have lost bigger fish for one reason or another. The weather can be very unpredictable ,this time of year so it makes sense to book the largest boat available. Rocket a 40' catamaran has been designed to operate in any weather conditions the English channel can throw at us. We are so confident that we garantee if you book a Cod trip, you GET a Cod trip.OR YOUR MONEY BACK.

    Good luck
    Regds Trevor

  • 11/2011 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Nov 2011 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

October was a great month for sport from Weymouth on board Supanova. The weather put pay to a fair few trips as quite often is the case at this time of year.

The Reef fishing proved exciting with bream catches at the strongest they have been all year, a nice few undulates were taken along with conger, huss and the odd late Tope making an appearance which added a nice bit of fun for the lucky anglers managing to land them on their Bream gear.

The Banks consistently threw up decent catches of Flatfish with Brill more Prolific than the Turbot with fish to just under 8lb it was great action for many. The Plaice fishing continued until the latter part of the month where numbers seemed to reduce as did the size! Fingers crossed they come back next year as strong as this years showing!

The bass fishing of late has been fairly poor with the primary reason being the late arrival of the sprats, however the last couple of days has seen fantastic catches on the arrival of the sprat. This should see action continue until christmas and hopefully into the new year!!!

Our efforts will now move to the Bass and the last remaining bream and early arrival Channel Whiting with the odd nice Cod thrown in for good measure, i'm looking forward to an action packed Autumn on Supanova.

Thanks to all for their continues support to me and Weymouth!

    Lyle

    Report on-board Flamer IV

OCTOBER REPORT - During October the fishing continued to be good despite the unsettled weather. The reefs produced bream, bull huss, congers, rays, cod etc.The banks were excelent for brill, turbot, and plaice.Lots of different species were caught with the Flamer IV species count now 55 for 2012.Also bass, pollack and cod were caught on the wrecks.Flamer Fish of the Month for October was a really hard one to choose with so many credible fish being caught ie 8Ib brill,6Ib 8oz plaice but I have awarded this months award to John Collings for his 26Ib blonde ray (pictured). As we move into the winter months the species caught will change and realistic target species will be Cod,Whiting,Rays,Pollack,Bass,Brill,Turbot,Bull Huss,Congers etc.Don't Miss Out.

2012 - Don't Forget to book your trips/places. Lots of interesting trips are available for individuals and boat bookings.
