Day 2 - Big Fish competition - The Winner was Pedro Abreu with 243 points and Runner up was Jamie Nash with 221 points.
Incidentally Pedro was on his first ever trip on Flamer IV and did extremely well catching some good fish and had several on the score sheet before any one else despite his disability of having no fingers and only a thumb on his right hand. Just "Brilliant " I thought , Well Done "Team Pedro".

Summer 2020 Fishing !!!!!!!
Once we started fishing again in early July the Fishing Trips out of my summer port of Paignton have been non stop. Operating fully Covid Secure and with a maximum of 6 anglers aboard the prop has barely stopped turning for Our Joe - L.
The Fishing Holidays have been very popular again with the last couple of spaces throughout the short season filling up from guests that had planned to fish Norway but were unable due to ever changing travel restrictions in place
Fishing the Skerries Bank this year has seen a decent number of good sized place over 2lb with the biggest aboard OUR JOE - L to Roy Bigg who landed a 3lb 10oz followed by several more over 2lb on the same day!
The Inshore Reefs have proved tough work but some decent Black Bream and Bass showed up.
The Offshore Wrecks have fished very well at times with the best day producing over 100 fish to the boat drifting on lures. Mainly pollock with the occasional cod to around showing up. later in the year the Bream started to fish on the wrecks in decent numbers with only a couple going over 4lb so far! This years biggest conger Eel so far has been to Paul Maris of 65lb.
There is still plenty of time to fish with me aboard OUR JOE - L, now throughout the winter operating out The River Dart, Dartmouth& Kingswear.
Best FIsh of summer fishing holidays 2020:
Bass 9lb
Black Bream 4lb4oz
Pollack 15lb
Cod 9lb
Ling 21lb
Small Eyed Ray 10lb
Plaice 3lb 10oz
John Dory 4lb6oz
Conger Eel 65lb
Bull Huss 12lb

Thanks for the support over the Summer months, we have managed some very memorable trips and it is has been our pleasure to host old friends and new and share in your memories of your visit to Britain's Ocean City. Trish and I have worked very hard thru the COVID-19 restrictions to ensure we and our customers have stayed safe and we have still been offer you a level of customer service you have all come to expect aboard the Patricia Rose. Lot's of our new customers have opted for the half day exclusive package and enjoyed being spoilt with individual coaching, free rod hire and the usual refreshments and good banter. In September we tried the Skerries again and the fishing didn't live up to the expectation but it was still nice to watch a huge Bluefin Tuna breaching at the back of the boat over slack water and those that persisted were rewarded with some nice tasty Plaice. The dolphins and tuna have been pretty consistent on most trips and even turned up recently as we anchored up on the banks for our first annual Blonde Ray hunt at the back end of Sep. This was new to many of the anglers on the boat that day and watching their smiles after a 20 minute tussle with these fantastic sporting fish was pleasure enough for us. It demonstrates the fragility of the mark though, that as we arrived in our first chosen area, a commercial netter had lost his net over that mark and this ghost fishing tackle has been reported to Ghost Fishing for their removal. We will try again this next small set of tides and see what scraps we have been left behind for our sporting anglers who might take the odd male fish while choosing to return most after a photo and especially those big females. You gotta love a big female Blonde !
We operate all year around but go slightly into tick over mode after half term and are very much at the mercy of the weather but it won't be long before we are up the river Cod hunting as we have picked up a few on the reefs while they wait for the water temperature to drop before coming up river. Finally a reminder to all that the tides are out for next year already and some of the better tides are already getting snapped up by clubs and whole boat bookings. We will of course continue to support our many individual anglers, but remember to book early to avoid disappointment. Tight Lines friends and fellow fisherman.View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
In between the current gales a small weather window presented itself today, the plan was to do a bit of Plaice fishing then Rays. We started along the beaches drifting towards Boscombe and this proved fruitless with only the occasional pout bothering the baits so we returned to the Swash channel and again very little but we did manage a small plaice so plan 2 came into action we anchored a bank and immediately had dogs and Rays this set the pattern for the afternoon with plenty more Rays, dogs, hounds and Gurnards coming aboard. Newly weds Russell and Karen outfished everyone landing most of the Rays. Chris Knight who is severely disabled was not to be outdone and landed a fine Undulate ray.
Given the conditions today the fishing was very good .View Boats Page

Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing remains good as we head into autumn which is normally one of the best seasons with summer species still in residence and winter species making an appearance.
We have spent most of the month doing inshore drifting trips. The main target has been plaice and generally the catches have been good although there has been the odd rather puzzling day where the fishing has been a bit slow despite seemingly excellent conditions. When the conditions are right and the fish are feeding hard we have had some superb sessions. There have been plenty of good sized fish around during the month.
There are also lots of other species around including black, gilthead and Couch's bream, red mullet, smoothhounds, tub and grey gurnards amongst others.
We haven't done much bass fishing during the month but when we have generally the results have been excellent. Still lots of small fish around and we have also seen some bigger fish in the 8lb and 9lb range coming aboard. We are still awaiting the first double figure of the year but have seen fish to 9lb 10oz. Great to see anglers wanting to release these magnificent, hard fighting big fish and only retain the smaller ones if they take any at all.
We have only fished one short session at anchor which produced a whole variety of species including the more unusual rock cook and baillon's wrasse.
I am pleased to say the mackerel have made a welcome return at the end of the month including some heavyweights over the 1lb mark.View Boats Page

Report on-board Flamer IV
Peter Gillett, Lee Page, Glenn Barrett, Paul Musslewhite, Mark Bailey, Kelvin Bailey and the infamous Dodgey David Barton joined Flamer IV for their annual Angling Break. Their original 2020 Angling Break was cancelled in June because of lockdown.
This time they managed to fish three out of the four days with the last day being cancelled due to a gale forecast.
During their trip they caught a variety of fish which included Rays, Tope, Pollack, Black Bream, Congers, Turbot, Bass, Gurnards etc with Glenn Barrett also catching a Red Mullett.
They did a competition over the first two days which Glenn Barrett won and Peter Gillett was Runner Up.
The banter and friendliness on the boat was as good as ever.
In the evenings the group did socialize but said it was not quite the same with all the necessary covid - 19 restrictions in place.
All the guys stayed at The Marden Guest House which as usual was great and provide a superb service.
The group have already booked their annual Angling Break for 2021.
Pictured is Mark Bailey with his 30Ib Tope.
Angling Breaks - Book Now, Don't miss Out,*** NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2021 *** A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do. The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre. If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals. If you are interested in doing a trip with a difference please contact me for full details. Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat/place booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.View Boats Page
