    Report on-board Flamer IV

A lovely Spring days fishing started with a session at anchor on a bank to the East of the port which produced Spurdogs,Small Eyed Ray, Thornback Ray, Spotted Ray, Conger, Whiting and the usual Dogfish. Denise Youngs catching a good size Spotted Ray weighing 4Ib 10oz, not to be out done husband Ian landed his Personal Best Spurdog weighing 19Ib,Simon Oakland landed his first ever Spurdog weighing 12Ib 13oz.
Next we drifted a Bank for Turbot, so I decided to have a go, I proceeded to land a 3Ib Tub Gurnard a PB for me, followed by a Turbot and then a Brill which were returned alive,I was then called a spawny, lucky *astard by some of the anglers who had only manged to catch one Turbot. A lovely end to the day ha ha with a bit of abuse and banter.

  • 17/03/2018 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

17 Mar 2018 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

    Hi
Thanks to a sustained period of strong winds the fishing has been severly hampered with just the odd weather window appearing, when it is possible to get out the offshore banks have produced some cracking Spurdogs, Rays and Congers. Some of the wrecks have produced a few Pollack to a reasonable size but many others have yet to see the fish arrive. Inshore Plaice are the main target with Bream soon to start feeding ( some have been caught by netters) and when the weather warms up other species will quickly appear. It is now that time of year for the annual spruce up and polish hopefully no surprise things will come up during the period ashore.
    all the best
    Phil

  • 02/2018 Fishing Report by Lewis hodder on Pegasus (Lyme Regis, Dorset)

    Feb 2018 by Lewis hodder

    Report on-board Pegasus

February’s fishing was typical of the time of year really, we only manage 6 trips 4 of which were on the wrecks and 2 inshore trips.

Inshore fishing produced plenty of whiting up to 3lb, the odd thornback ray, Bull Huss and a fair few small Smoothies.

The wrecking continued to be good with lots of Pollack caught up to 15lb.

Not a lot else to report I’m afraid this month hopefully I’ll have a bit more to write about in next months report when hopefully we will start seeing some good Pollack on the inshore reefs and wrecks and maybe even a few early Plaice and more smoothies on the inshore grounds.

    Tight lines

    Lewis

22 Feb 2018 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Dave Metcalf and crew joned Flamer IV for the first of their 2018 two day Angling Breaks. Both days were spent fishing at anchor on banks which produced numerous Rays along with Smooth Hounds, Congers, Whiting and the usual Dogfish and Pouts. Pictured is Jim Birnie with his 12Ib 9oz Undulate Ray. The lads used downtide and uptide methods with squid and mackerel cocktail baits. They are looking forward to their next 2 day Angling Break on Flamer IV in May.

Weymouth Angling Breaks - Book Now, Don't miss Out,*** NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2018 ***
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.

    Report on-board Spot On!

A break in the weather meant that we managed to get out mid channel wrecking 4 days in a row.
Glorious weather all days and accompanied by lots of dolphins which is always great to see.
Again wrecking proved to be very good with lots of prime pollock being caught every day, plenty of double figurerd fish around up to the high teens.
We also managed a lovely specimen grey gurnard of 1lb 8oz along with ling, our first cod of the year, pouting, whiting and some bass. (Returned alive quickly)
This fine fishing should be set to continue for the next month or so.

Top lures over the 4 days were the skerries Sandeel by Sidewinder.

Dates are filling fast so if you want a trip on board Brixham's premier charter boat and only catamaran then feel free to contact me.

  • 02/2018 Fishing Report by Sam Cumming on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)

    Feb 2018 by Sam Cumming

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

Highlight of the month so far has been the arrival of the spur dogs in good numbers. Even on the bigger tides when we can only head offshore to target them a couple of hours either side of slack water the fishing has been full on. The best rig to use is a simple 5 foot flowing trace made of about 80lb mono and a 4/0 circle hook baited with mackerel, sandeel and/or squid. Biggest so far has gone 22lb 8oz but I'm hoping there will be bigger to come in March. Inshore things are quietening down a touch with plenty of whiting left but mostly small fish and some rays dotted around on certain marks. Over the next week, weather permitting, we shall do our first wreck trips out in the Channel to target the big spring pollock. Alderney and Cherbourg trips are filling up fast so drop me an email at info@silverspraycharters.com if you would like a list of remaining dates.
