Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
As the 1st of the winter gales hits home it is catch up time and a look back at the last couple of weeks, the whiting fishing was superb with lots of fish coming on board every trip, the best went to Dave Addison at 4lb 2ozs. The Cod have remained very hard to find and we have yet to see one the winter but have made up for it with other fine fish Spurdogs to 16lb, Smoothhounds to 12lb, plenty of Rays Congers and a bonus Gurnard weighing 4lb 7 ozs but the best fish fell to Gannets AC anglers whilst fishing for Whiting as the wind increased forcing a move to shelter to fish for Rays we landed 2 Turbot weighing 11lb 4 ozs and 10lb 2 ozs both coming to anglers who had never caught them before. We have started our winter Flounder league and thanks again to bad weather we have only ventured into the shallows once on probably one of the finest winters day you could be afloat it was mirror calm with a hard frost offering stunning views and photographs and after a while we managed to find a few small Flounders, plenty of small Bass but none of us really cared about the fishing as the Harbour looked so beautiful and the wildlife was very active.
Over the Christmas period I have plenty of singles trips running so if you fancy a day fishing please call
Wishing all my friends and friends I have yet to meet A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford
on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)
Nov 2017 by Lyle Stantiford
Report on-board Supanova II
Well the season is beginning to wind down from here on in as the weather begins to beat us a little more frequently than we'd like.
It's a big shame as the fishing has been superb the last month or so with the stand out, the absolutely phenomenal Bream fishing. On a couple of marks when the tide comes right sport has been bonkers with double and even treble shots common place and not small fish either with the best in the last month 4lb 7oz for Southampton angler Andy Hayden. The Blonde Ray fishing has been fantastic on the small toes with up to 50 fish coming to the net and all released to fight another day. Best the last month was 28lb. A bit of squid fishing will often feature in the last hour of trips this time of year, with many people never having targeted them let alone caught one it is great fun! They fight like mad and great eating too.
We have a bit of time off in December but a few trips with place still remain.
29th November Inshore £55pp 7 spaces
16th December Inshore £55pp 3 spaces
17th December Wrecking £75pp 7 spaces
27th December Wrecking £75pp 10 spaces
28th December Inshore £55pp 8 spaces
30th December Wrecking £75pp 2 spaces
Thanks to all that have made this month fun and continue their support to Weymouth.
Tight Lines,
Lyle

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Last week allowed us to be fishing every day, throughout the week we were hopeful of catching that illusive Cod but for me this season it still remains illusive but plenty of good fish were caught each day. We took a gamble on what turned out to be the calmest and sunniest of days and go Flounder fishing and to for our efforts we were rewarded with loads of little Bass and a few Flounders. The rest of the week saw us out in the bay fishing spots all the way to the Needles where we landed plenty of Congers, Channels and dogfish. Over the week the weather seemed to deteriorate forcing us to seek shelter on Saturday after a good morning fishing for Whiting and what a stroke of good fortune that turned out to be as we landed 2 double figure Turbot for the Gannets Angling club. Sunday's forecast was near perfect and was more like a summers day with flat seas and loads of sunshine and plenty of fish, the whiting were hitting the baits big time with the biggest being 4lb 2ozs and as a bonus Ian Honeyman landed a big Tub Gurnard along with many Congers, Rays and more dogfish.
All the best

Fishing Report by Sam Cumming

Report on-board Silver Spray II
Top trip for last month was certainly our final trip over to Alderney for the year. I've always liked going across the channel this late in the season, providing you can get a bit of favourable weather, the fishing is never disappointing. Day one saw a decent enough session at anchor on a wreck for congers and bream, unfortunately no ling this time around which was disappointing as we had plenty the week before. Day Two started off with Bob Hall's couches bream double header, the most we have ever had on the whole boat for the day is 2 so this was something special. The catches continued throughout the day however and we ended up with 19 couches coming to the net, including ten for Ian Napier who was just hoping to catch his first one on this trip. Plenty of hard fighting black bream of varying sizes were caught by all throughout the day mostly returned for next year. A manic session on the anchor saw tope up to 50lb, bull huss, more bream and even a bonus plaice (only the second one I've ever seen in Alderney). Day Three started off with a few hours on the banks which produced half a dozen flats, tub gurnards and cuttlefish, nothing massive but we have had worse days than that this year. Then off to anchor up a big rock mark which was very productive with huss, bream, congers and plenty more big tope. To round the day off we did an hours breaming back by the island, a slow start turned into a frantic half an hour with the bream taking anything you put down there. Average size was way up on the previous day at around 3lb. Bob Hall had the last say of the day with a couches bream and black bream double this time. Day four and the weather unfortunately turned for the worst and we were faced with a small neap tide against 20 knots of westerly. The prospect of swinging round and round the anchor rope all day didn't appeal so we headed back across to Poole Bay to finish the trip up in calmer waters. Out of only a handful of mackerel the lads managed 6 small eyed rays, 1 undulate, 2 smoothounds and would you believe it a 15lb 4oz turbot!?!?! All the time we have spent steaming around looking for those flatfish far and wide and we catch the biggest one of the year right on our doorstep. That’s going to be a tough trip to beat. We are now taking bookings for Alderney 2018 so drop us an email for a list of dates. info@silverspraycharters.com

Weymouth Angling Breaks - Book Now, Don't miss Out,*** NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2018 ***
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.View Boats Page
