Warwickshire Police Sea Angling Club enjoyed there day out on Flamer IV, species and flatty fishing. The fishing was all done on the drift and 15 different species were recorded. The flatty fishing was excellent with Les Twynholm getting a Grand Slam by catching a Plaice, Turbot and a Brill. Les Twnholm is pictured with his 3Ib 6oz Plaice.

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

Despite a week or so of easterly winds the fishing from Poole has been very good in the last month. We have mostly been bream fishing, with great success on the marks in the Bay. The size of the fish we are seeing has been very encouraging with plenty of 3lb plus fish hitting the baits. The best bream so far has been Barry Culver's 4lb 8oz PB which was caught on squid head. As well as the bigger fish we have had some good numbers on other marks too, usually a smaller stamp so plenty returned for next season. Our first Alderney trip went well, with some cracking brill on the banks being the highlight. The wreck fishing was very quiet in late April but I'm pleased to say that its picked back up again now and we are starting to see the first of the cod. The mackerel have started to arrive as well, how long they will stick around for is another matter, we have had catches off Poole, Alderney and in the Channel. Looking forward to some more wrecking trips over the coming weeks to target some big cod.

  • 14/05/2017 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

14 May 2017 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The new gearboxes arrived and have been installed so off fishing we went, the weather for the weekend seemed to favour Bream fishing which from the moment we dropped anchor produced good sized bream with several double shots and a few Pollack as a bonus. Once again Steve and his crew returned over 90% of the catch demonstrating a good conservation minded approach to angling. Sunday saw much the same in the morning with plenty of bream being landed and again returned but the weather in the afternoon caused the boat to swing around too much and much tackle was donated to the seabed so we had a short time Plaice fishing which resulted in far too much seaweed coming aboard, now plan C came into affect fishing the bank at the end of the Swash Channel for rays and Hounds of which we were successful in both not big fish but good fun on spinning rods.
Plenty of spaces available to enjoy some good Bream fishing so please call and enjoy a day out.
    all the best

    Report on-board Flamer IV

The latest Reef/Bank trip provided some good sport with Bull huss,Conger, Tope, Smooth hounds, Undulate, Thornback and Spotted Rays being caught along with the usual Dogfish and Pouts. John Billett did particularly well catching a 14Ib Bull Huss and a 25Ib 1oz Tope which gave him a tug on his tackle and poor old John broke his rod in the process of landing the Tope, how ever John did win a Flamer IV catch of the day trophy for his efforts. John is pictured with his Tope.
The Next Reef/Bank Trips with places available are on May 24th, 28th,June 4th, 7th,24th,

14 May 2017 by Malcolm Collins

    Report on-board Just Mary

Hi All, despite the persistent Easterly winds a week of trips have found us on local marks, Southbourne Rough and Poole Rocks seeking out some nice prime condition hard fighting Black Bream. Taking only males for the table and releasing females still full of roe unharmed back to the Sea. A week spent in good company and not always in ideal conditions but still the fish come to the landing net ! My star of the week is Neville from London a septuagenarian who drives an AC Cobra replica and loves his Inshore fishing on 'Just Mary' with his 'classic' fishing tackle still doing the 'business'. Just proving that age or tackle choice is no bar to catching good fish on 'Just Mary' from Poole who is herself a 'Classic' Angling Charter Boat of the Seas. All the best to You All, ta Malc.....see you soon !

Mark Slater enjoyed his belated 50th birthday trip aboard Flamer IV and caught Brill and Turbot which included his new Personal Best Turbot weighing 13Ib 1oz. Marks father 74 year old Keith was a Turbot virgin but not any more with Keith landing two. Marks son James age 13 also caught Turbot. Marks two friends Alec and Doris
landed Brill,Turbot and a Dab. The guys were using two hook traces with size 4/0 Sakuma stinger hooks baited with Mackerel strip. Mark is pictured with his 13Ib 1oz Turbot.

  • 07/05/2017 Fishing Report by Kevin Wyatt on Obsession (Mevagissey, Cornwall)

7 May 2017 by Kevin Wyatt

    Report on-board Obsession

With a decent forecast predicted, Obsession made the most of the weather and headed out to the mid channel wrecks on Sunday. Some cracking fish back on the scene with plenty of prime Pollock upto 22lb and some new season Cod upto 20lb.
The fishing was very brisk and the Anglers were kept busy on the drifts which was producing 3-4 fish per drift.
Very satisfying that everyone caught and went home happy with plenty of fillets for the freezer.

  • 07/05/2017 Fishing Report by Malcolm Collins on Just Mary (Christchurch, Dorset)

7 May 2017 by Malcolm Collins

    Report on-board Just Mary

First Bream trip of the new 'season' and we dropped straight into some decent Bream on Southbourne Rough. Several good ones for Mark 'Mac' MacNeaney, who's more Irish than Guinness, and for my Neighbour Paul Green who's a true 'Poolite' from our Home Port, all about the 2lb 4oz mark when weighed onboard fresh from the Sea. We still stick to our belief that nature needs to be protected so all the roe bearing females are released whilst the best of the abundant males are retained for the table. This time of year the Black Bream are in prime condition for spawning and eating, fresh from the Sea there can be few better eating fish in my opinion. In total fish numbers, of all species including the Bream, Pollack, Pouting, Dogfish, Wrasse and a Small Conger, we had well over a hundred fish caught with many returned. A cold start to the day in a North Easterly but the wind eased and the Sun shone, good fishing in good company, so come and join us, all the best, ta Malc.

  • 23/04/2017 Fishing Report by DAN clarke on FINS UP (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Report on-board FINS UP

    APRIL 2017
Well, firstly and most importantly what a fantastic spell of settled weather we have had. Fingers crossed it will continue into the summer!  The weather has enabled us to get out on the fish frequently.  We have been concentrating more trips inshore on the flatties and reefs.
The Shambles Bank has been giving up some great fish.  One of the biggest Brill I have ever seen was caught by Rob Symes weighing in at a very modest 11lb 9 oz. A few double figure Turbot were a welcome sight after seeing not much else but pollock whilst fishing offshore over the last  few months.
Tope, Congers,  Spur Dogs have all been landed on the reef and I'm sure it won't be long until we see a scattering of Black Bream.
Offshore wrecks have started to show more and frequent Ling on both lures and baits . The classic rhubarb and custard sandeel always a favourite for the Ling.
Pollock are still in fairly good numbers. Some fish starting to look a little skinny though  after shooting their roe.
Our sponsors Sidewinder have kindly donated a large amount of lures and braided line. If you would like to be in with a chance to win some of this  fabulous  gear, we will be running competition days wrecking on the lures. Please keep an eye on my FB page, I will be releasing the dates soon.
