Report on-board Silver Spray II
Fishing has been a mixed bag over the last month with all of the changes in weather. It seems to have dropped off in the bay with just a few whiting left and a couple of rays here and there. We have been focusing our efforts on the banks off shore. The spurdogs have started steadily with some trips producing up half a dozen or so, I expect these catches to increase well into March as was the case last year. What makes these days so enjoyable is the variety of species that you see. Undulates, thornbacks, blonde rays, pollock, bull huss, whiting all making regular appearances lately. Dean Cook landed 8 whiting up to 3lb 8oz on large baits meant for spurdog on one day, a piece of luminous green tubing on a flowing trace his secret weapon. This Sunday will be our first trip out to the long distance wrecks to target pollock, with plenty of sprats marking on the sounder already we are hoping to get stuck straight into them.

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Last weekend saw February temperatures rise to be able to fish in shirtsleeves and flat calm conditions allowing us to venture out to the mid channel wrecks for the 1st time this year, not knowing if they were holding fish we set of in thick fog which is always challenging navigating Poole Harbour but once we cleared the main channel the fog disappeared leaving beautiful sunny conditions. Our 1st stop produced 2 Pollack on the 1st drift and continued to average 1 per drift then on, nothing big all around the 8-9lb mark, as we moved to another wreck we were rewarded with a bonus Coalfish of 9lb 12ozs. As we had now caught our target species and with the tide due to ease soon we choose to try some new bank marks I had come across last year, once anchored we were immediately into Blonde Rays with the best going 25lb 4 ozs in 1 hr 15 mins we had landed 16 Rays. A good days fishing. On Sunday the anglers choose to stay local, our 1st mark only produced 1 Ray and a few small whiting so we moved to a gulley mid Poole Bay and were rewarded with lots of Congers to 62lb, Pollack to 10lb and our usual friends the Dogfish.

Fishing Report by Ross Parham
on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)
Jan 2017 by Ross Parham
Report on-board Spot On!
January has been a tough one with only a few days at sea fishing the mid channel wrecks in search of BIG winter Pollock. (Easterly winds forcing most days cancelled).
The trips have been very successful with some great prime hard fighting fish being taken and in good numbers too with early finishes to get the 3+ hours of filleting done!
The photos from just the few trips completed in 2017 are showing real promise for another great year on board Spot On.
Bonus fish have included a few bass, lonesome Cod and some large tub gurnards along with a lobster.
The smaller tides will now see us focus slack water on the big Ling which should be around and with the fantastic sport on the Pollock still going strong, with many double figured fish I hope this continues through February and March until we await the arrival of the Cod.
New for 2017 is a 3 boat Brixham Summer Plaice Competition with some great cash prizes and trophies up for grabs. to be held on June 5th & 6th. Please get in touch if interested.
2017 Calendar is now fully up to date and filling fast, so if there is something that suits yourself please get in touch.
Channel Islands trips and Cornwall deep sea adventure trips also with spaces so why not Join Brixham's Premier charter boat on some great trips with great fishing!
The skerries should now be producing BIG blonde rays with the occasional early Plaice so well worth a try if you want to try something different.
Thanks to Boat Sponsor's Top Rigs and Sidewinder Lures for once again given me there support for anther year.
Pictured is a Lobster caught on a Rhubarb & Custard Sidewinder which was carefully returned after photo.
No trips complete in February 2017 to date yet.View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou
on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)
9 Feb 2017 by Nigel Lihou
Report on-board Optimist
Although Optimist has been out of the water for two weeks it doesn’t stop me getting out with friends for a bit of fishing in between the job list to be done. The Skerries are still producing well with good sizes of Ray, Blonde, Small eyed, Spotted and Thornback with smooth hound the odd Plaice and some good size Whiting there are still a good variety of fish about.
On the wrecks we have been seeing a fair amount of Pollack nothing of vast size but in the 3lb to 6lb range which is nice for those who would like one for the table.
Bookings are trickling in for 2017 so if you have a particular date in mind check the tides and give us a call we will do our best to put you on the fish.
For those of you more interested in watching our wildlife than catching fish we are now running regular bird and wildlife watching trips on Sunday mornings with a local accredited guide, but these do book up fast so best to give us a call, Optimist is still available for charter in the afternoon and for full days Monday to Saturday.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard in 2017.View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Kevin Wyatt
on Obsession (Mevagissey, Cornwall)
Jan 2017 by Kevin Wyatt
Report on-board Obsession
Where do I start !, the weather has not been kind to us recently but when we have been able to get to out to Sea its been very successful with lots of hard fighting Pollock coming to the boat.
Most of the fish coming up have been in the 10 to 12lb size, but on the more recent trips the fish coming up are between the 12 to 18lb with several fish going 19lb and this beauty caught by Jason Turner going over the magical 20lb Mark, what a fantastic fish. This one was caught on a 2" snow white Bazinda Lure.
Also on one of our first trips of 2017 we had a surprise visitor which was a 50lb Porbeagle shark which took a whiting on the way up which the lucky Angler Ellis managed to land on 15lb class gear after an epic battle.
The Pollock season is now in full flow but usually peaks around early February and then starts slowing down toward the end of the month after all the spawning activities have finshed.
So for some fantastic hard fighting Pollock action give Kev Wyatt a call on 07964 053347, as Brixham is the true home of "Biguns and Whoppers".View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)
23 Jan 2017 by Philip Higgins
Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
The inshore Whiting fishing has continued to be outstanding this winter, last weekend we managed to land our 1st set of 5 Rays in 1 trip, Blonde, Thornback, Small Eyed, Spotted and Undulate. Conger Eels are still providing plenty of sport on the lighter tackle. Keith Humphreys of Sea Fishing Poole fame caught his 1st cod of the winter during a 'boys' day out along with plenty of big whiting. Saturday we ventured out to sea to chase the Spurdogs but only managed more Eels, rays and Whiting, yesterday the freezing fog which did not lift all day meant a change of plans so we fished a little closer to shore landing plenty of Whiting,Congers and the 1st Plaice of the year.

Fishing Report by Owen Mallia
on Outlaw (Dartmouth, Devon)
22 Jan 2017 by Owen Mallia
Report on-board Outlaw
We enjoyed another super day's angling on Outlaw of Dartmouth today, hunting for sporty Pollock on the Mid-Channel Wrecks.
All of the anglers on board caught plenty of feisty Channel fish with the largest Pollock going to 14lbs.
Marcus Tribe from Nomansland in Devon is a relative newcomer to Deep Sea fishing, however that didn't stop him mixing it up with the more experienced anglers, Marcus caught a number of the larger fish throughout the day on Outlaw.
Visiting angler Bill Phillott from Tavistock also caught consistently well, as did Dartmouth regulars Harry White from Moretonhampsted, John Maurice from Newton Abbot and Wes Donoghue from Paignton.
A top day was had by all.
