  • 08/05/2016 Fishing Report by clem carter on Wild Frontier 2 (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Report on-board Wild Frontier 2

Thank you Allan Yates for sharing your day out aboard Wild Frontier 2 and a bigger thumbs up for supporting Weymouth port - we are a tight and supportive community proud of the expertise and good times to be shared out on the water - please find below Allan's latest review - we cant say it better ourselves!

'Disappointment that turned to elation out on Wild Frontier II from Weymouth skippered by Clem Carter. The trip plan was mid channel wrecking to find some early Cod but it was changed to inshore for the Bream, a good call for us in the end and reason was the May bloom that so colours the water it was totally un-economical to venture out mid channel for possibly only a few to no fish at all. Day started wet with rain which soon cleared and the sun shone for us, another bonus was we arrived at the mark far quicker than steaming out miles to the wrecks so more fishing time. Bream started to show which were good sized 3 - 4lbs and during the day plenty were taken with undersized returned to fight another day. Fishing at anchor bores the Ass off me to be honest which is why I very rarely do it I much prefer drift fishing keeps me more occupied BUT!! yesterday my boredom turned to excitement when I got into what turned out to be a really well marked Undulate Ray and of good size on my really light spinning kit set up for Breaming. Skipper Clem Carter had just come up front were I was fishing to let out more anchor rope and the Ray took off fortunately the tide had eased right off so it was tackle versus fish without adding in tidal flow to allow the fish to kite. With great weather and good fishing plus meeting some of the anglers from my FB friends for the first time it turned out to be a really great day and Weymouth Rocks !! Again, never get bored saying that. Here are some images of the Bream taken and my Undulate of course, even the skipper got in on the act enjoying a spot of fishing in between his other duties looking after the anglers and why not.'

7 May 2016 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Bill Walton and friends from Devon enjoyed two sessions fishing at anchor to the East of Weymouth along the Jurassic coast using light tackle. They caught Black Bream, Smooth Hounds and Thornback and Spotted Rays along with the usual Dogfish and Pouting. Pictured is Steve Matthews with a 7Ib Thornback Ray which was his first ever and he also caught his first ever Spotted Ray. Steve was using 6Ib class tackle with strips of mackerel and squid being the successful bait which was mounted on a Sakuma size 2/0 stinger hook on a flowing trace with colored beads on. We must not forget Bill Walton who caught the first Black Bream and species number 27 caught on Flamer IV this year and Bill also did a sterling job of catching plenty of Dogfish so the other guys could catch the Rays etc.

The next Reef/Bank Trips on Flamer IV with places available are on June 4th, 6th,20th,21st,Don't Miss Out.

  • 08/05/2016 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

8 May 2016 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

At last sun shine and flat seas a charter skippers dream day at the office, although the tides were very big we choose to go off to the mid channel wreck marks seeking cod and pollack, on arrival our drift speed was 3.2 knots we were into good size pollack and as the tide eased cod came aboard the best being 20lb 8ozs by Conn Bratcher, this continued all through slack and the start of the ebb which came back with a vengeance the fishing stopped at 3kts we stayed a little longer and when our drift speed hit 4.8knots we decided to retire and watch the nations favourite underdogs lift the premier league trophy.
Sunday was a more gentle day with lots of bream and several strings of mackeral whilst sat at anchor, the bream fishing is excellent , if you like fishing for bream then now is your chance to have a great sporting day on them.

  • 30/04/2016 Fishing Report by Kevin Wyatt on Obsession (Mevagissey, Cornwall)

30 Apr 2016 by Kevin Wyatt

    Report on-board Obsession

Saterday 30th April saw Obsession offshore again, with a gap in the relentless wind blowing all the time lately -Anyway that's the doom and gloom out the way Let's get back to the fishing, after a steady stream out to our intendid wreck we found some pollock but were abit on the small side but after a chat on the radio with ross of Spot-on, ross put us on to another wreck which he said was holding bigger fish and rightly so in no time we had bent rods with good pollock pulling hard at the other end, which goes to show it is Easier to work Together than work Against one Another, the Rest of them should try it some day.Anyway with the fish steadly coming to the net time was flying and with the wind picking up again it was time to head home, with hopeing the cod will show up soon in numbers We are looking forward to getting back out there as soon as possible.and for those chaps that like conger fishing you have come to the right place as I love those Big ugly bruts -the bigger the better,, don't forget the ray's and flatteys on the skerries for the chap's that don't like to travel to offshore.. So if you want to book a place on Brixhams newest edition to the charter fleet and join OBSESSION, the massive 40ft charter boat then please Call or Text kev on 07964053347
