    Report on-board Becca Marie

Well its been a funny few weeks for us, unfortunatly most of our wreck fishing trips were cancelled due to strong winds, while the inshore reef and bank trips seemed to get the calmer weather, we did manage a few inshore wreck fishing days which were very productive, bringing in plenty of Pollock, not massive but up to 9lb. ( ideal dinner size).. We did venture to a favourite inshore wreck of mine and had our first Bass of the year which was a very welcome sight........We also started our regular reef trips at anchor and managed to catch, whiting, coddling,Bullhuss,Thornback Ray and a truck load of doggies which was i great start and can only improve..... Our regular trips to the Skerries Banks has seen it improve on every trip, we are now catching many Plaice over 2lb and bagging 30+ of keeper Fish aswell as return many smaller Plaice, we have also seen some small Gurnard coming up along with many many small whiting.

Coming up we have planned more trips to the Skerries and our trips to the Reefs aswell as offshore Wrecking so check out our calender and come and join us.

Wreck fishing is still going strong from Brixham if you do the distance.

Great to see more Cod than Pollock caught on one trip and with the Ling and whiting still around its been a good, Cod are small at the moment, a few double figure ones in the mix but with the average fish around 5-7lb mark, next few weeks will see the bigger specimens turning up.

Remember Spot On is Brixhams premier charter boat and will always keep you up to date with catches and reports, just check out the catches so far this year already.

Skerries bank is still fishing with good numbers of plaice being caught, also the first small Bass was caught on a recent trip so things are looking to be a great Summers fishing on board Spot On.

Sorry for the lack of photos as I was flat out with the net this weekend as my crew was unwell.

Spot On is on Facebook where you can see anglers who have been, caught and conquered the fishing on Spot On.

Good day on the skerries banks today with a great bunch of guys, lots of nice prime plaice with the biggest going 2lb 12oz, 66 plaice boated and many returned, lots of double headers aswell.

    Species landed were:
Plaice, Whiting, Launce, Bass, Dogfish, Mackerel, Herring and Grey Gurnard.

Remember a 10 hour skerries bank trip is just £35 per person on board Spot On, Why pay more?

Pictured is Terry with his first double header and showing 2 great conditioned Skerries Plaice, it was a shame Spot On didnt get to enter the Dartmouth Plaice festival this year.

    Report on-board Optimist

The Skerries are producing some really nice Plaice as confirmed by the second trip of the week but the following day a short trip specifically for Mackerel failed to produce any significant fish although the water is now a lot clearer than of late. Friday the 18th and a half day to inshore wrecks proved that the Pollack have returned or at least have started to bite with some nice fish showing the biggest of the day at 7lb 2oz falling to Jamie from Poole. More trips planned in the next week or so phone for details.

Wrecking is still good at the moment with great hard fighting Pollock that are really in great shape for the time of year, already the first few cod have been caught so they will not be long to show in numbers, Ling are still again taking lures as well as baits to give the anglers a good scrap, jumbo whiting are still being caught with 3lb+ fish being landed in numbers on all trips.

Skerries banks now are showing good numbers of plaice with Spot On's last trip pulling out 45 fish with 30 being returned.

Remember Spot On is Brixham's only catamaran and is the ultimate charter boat in the south west.

April 13 2014 what a great day flat seas, sunshine and a fantastic day with the chaps from North Wales on the Skerries Bank. Plaice, Plaice and more Plaice with some taken for the pot and many more caught and released. The Skerries was alive with both boats and fish the plaice being taken on a cocktail of prawn, and rag worm tipped off with a sliver of squid. Everyone agreed it was a good days Plaice bashing and certainly one to put in the diary. The photos show some of spotty catches.

    Report on-board Spot On!

Spot On has again been hitting the skerries banks for plaice with numbers hitting 30 fish for half a day and the other half spent at anchor for huss, doggies and whiting, fish looking in great condition with the biggest fish hitting 2lb.

Wrecking is really now kicking off as a great day saw loads of Ling, with a few over the 20+ mark and one topping the scales at 30lb 4oz, Pollock up to 16lb along with the first few Cod of the year so they will be here any day soon, jumbo Whiting up to 4lb made up the rest of the days fine catches

Many bigger fish just proving too strong and despite the anglers holding on for as long as possible just could not stop the strong fish.

Picture shows Plymouth Angler Bob with his arm wreniching 30lb 4oz Ling.

With the Wreck Fishing starting to improve, we ventured out feeling optimistic..... Fishing in the morning was steady with plenty of nice whiting coming onboard on lures and bait aswell as the first mackerel of year for us, as the ebb tide slacked we travelled out into deeper water in search of Ling, first few drifts saw some nice Pollock coming up, then as the tide began to slack the first hefty fish took a fillet of mackerel, sadley it was lost half way up but the next drift saw two ling at 24lb 6oz and 15lb 4oz gaffed. It continued to fish well until it was time to head in seeing more Ling coming up and Pollock....Roll on the next one
