WE LEFT SALCOMBE AT 8AM AND WERE FISHING BY 8.45AM. THE FISHING WAS A BIT SLOW FOR THE FIRST HOUR,WE WERE WAITING FOR THE FLOOD TIDE TOSTART RUNNING. WHEN IT DID THE FISHING REARLY PICKED UP, WE WERE CATCHING 3 OR 4 POLLACK A DRIFT UP TO 15LB WITH MOST OF THEM IN THE 10-12LB BRACKET. THIS CONTINUED FOR THE NEXT 3 HOURS UNTIL THE TIDE DROPPED OF. WE WAITED FOR THE EBB TO COME BUT IT WAS WIND AGAINST TIDE AND THE DRIFT WAS TO SLOW AND THE FISH WEREN'T PLAYING THE GAME. WE SHOT OF TO ANOTHER COUPLE OF WRECKS WHERE WE PICKED UP A FEW SMALL COD AND A HADDOCK, BUT THE FISH DIDN'T SHOW. WE WERE BACK IN SALCOMBE BY 4.30, BEER BY 5PM!!!!!

A group of locals braved the recent cold weather to fish the 28th December for the spurs. We had about a dozen over the high water on a 5 hour trip. To add to this we also had some nice whitting, a few bull huss and a couple of nice eels, the biggest falling to James Gubb which was estimated at about 20-25lbs. All in all not a bad outing for a short trip over the tide. We are currently running these shorter trips over the most productive fishing times. Saturday 4th December gave us a welcome break from the cold NE winds of late and allowed us to get out for the day. Fishing was slow inshore but as the tide slackened we moved off to a favourite spot which produced bull huss, spurdog and eels as well as the usual dogfish in between. Matt Jeferies bagged his first ever spurdog with local angling reporter Wayne Thomas taking the biggest catch of the day with a 35lb Conger eel. No cod showing on this trip but things look good for the coming weeks.

November the 14th saw a good day out for a local club both for weather and fish. Catches for the day included over a dozen bull huss upto 12lb, 3 eels upto 20lb, a blonde ray and over 15 spurs the biggest of them being 13.5lb. There were also a few tope runs but none of them led to anything other than lost gear. All in all not a bad day out. This was the first time fishing some new ground which I hope will produce some nice cod in the comming months.....watch this space.

Sunday 1 st August produced 10 species of fish from the local banks and reefs from Berry Head down to the mouth of Dartmouth.
Most anglers were inexperienced but all enjoyed the thrill of catching fish they have not seen before.

Managed to get in a 4 hour trip yesterday 30th December for 5 lads holidaying in Brixham for the festive season.
This is the first trip we have managed to get out on the sea for any length of time for weeks! Easterly winds give the Torbay area a problem and the wind has been easterly on and off for quite a few weeks.
Fishing was restricted to local inshore reefs due to the remnants of the previous couple of days swell and the forecast of another strengthening NE !
We did however manage to get amongst some good sized Whiting and filled up with enough fish for everyone to have several meals. A few poor cod added to species.
It was just nice to get out on the sea again.
Now taking booking for 2010, if you book four trips for the year a 10% reduction will apply.

Recent species hunts have proved very popular with visitors to Brixham trying sea fishing for the first time. Most have tried the local 2 hour, Mackerel fishing boat (Brixham Belle 3 skippered by Barrie) then though they would like to experience a longer trip.
