Cod fishing in the Western Channel;
After switching last year to Red Gill's new Evolution lures with great success, I re-ordered some new ones for this season. In addition to the usual colours, I ordered a few packs of White Red Mega Vibe Red Gills, which, on the last few trips have proven to out-fish anything else two to one!
Ian tried them today for the first time, and landed three cod before any of the other anglers, using other lures, had one on their rods.
I would highly recommend trying these out if you want to catch cod!View Boats Page

Hi all,
Well here we are in May and it seems everything is getting going !
Had a Reef trip today (Sun May 13th) and it was quite lively with plenty of V/good sized Whiting, Ling, Pollock and a smattering of Congers. Bait (mackerel) was plentyful and the lads from Okehampton seemed happy with their day. Bookings are very good for June onwards but I have got the odd day left here and there.
Will keep you informed as to the Sharks starting, PeteView Boats Page

Report on-board Atlantic Diver / Atlantic Explorer
Easter has seen the start of plenty of Cod coming in aboard Atlantic Diver. We were lucky enough to have Mackerel putting in an early appearance , so plenty of fish for the Bar-B-Que! Bottlenose Dolphins were also in Newquay Bay yesterday to the delight of our Sea Anglers...The Grey seals which return to the harbour each year are back to check out the catch of the day and fishing for themselves at Fly Cellars , just outside the Harbour.

Report on-board Wave Chieftain
The 2011 boat fishing at Falmouth will be one to remember, an early run of Whiting with fish up to 5lb, Haddock up to 6lb and Mackerel to 2lb was a great way to start the year, The Pollack season finished before it started, probably due to over fishing of this now sort after fish, however a few good hits on the wrecks saw fish up to 18lb and was helped by some great Ling with the best topping 38lb. We struggled to see any big Congers this year with the best hitting 75lb, however plenty of eels in the 40 –50lb bracket gave many an angler a good scrap and were all returned alive. Cod are now being caught daily with the best hitting 26lb but plenty of 5-8lb fish always happy to take your bait. Inshore marks have produced some great sport with Bull Huss to 14lb and plenty of rays up to 8lb. The Shark fishing season started early this year and ran up to November , all were returned alive with the best hitting 155lb on the scales and over 40 fish making the 100lb mark and plenty of Garfish hitting the 2.5lb. The season closed with a heavy run of Squid and Bass to 6lb and my fisher wife hooked her self a fantastic Red Gurnard of 3.2.3lb setting a new World record !! ( And well deserved ). What a great way to end the season, looking forward to 2012

Hi all
well what a season !! best since I started - 205 (all Blues) up to an official 154lb.
All told 613 sharks from all boats here in Looe so as you can see, we caught our share with our best day being 14 sharks between 2 anglers !!!
Winter fishing now, so those of you feeling tough and needing a day out give me a ring and we'll look at weather.
After such a good year you can imagine bookings for peak times 2012 are already getting scarce so please dont leave it too long to get organised.
New web site almost there, will keep you informed.
Thanks to all that came down, looking fwd to seeing you all next year, - have a great Chritmas and new year,
Tight Lines, PeteView Boats Page

Sharking in October -
After having some great sharking trips in September, with 14 blues on one day, we attempted another trip on the 12th October, which proved that the biggies are still here. In the last two trips, we had blues touching the 100lb mark, and on this one, the best of four sharks caught was 120lb, pictured here. It was caught by Phil from Bristol on his own kit. Obviously, the sea temperature is still conducive to the blues, and takes longer to cool than people think. Blues have been caught off South Cornwall up to November in previous years. Here's to a few more weeks of rod-bending weather!View Boats Page

Report on-board Bessie Vee
The Bess had her first shark trip of the year on Sunday 21st August, with six fishing. Weather was fine, so pushed out to 16 miles, where we started the drift. Within 10 minutes of getting the lines away, we had our first blue on line, which managed to swim round and bite through the main line, so not a great start!
However, before being able to re-rig the rod, we had another run resulting in a clean hook-up, this one a 50lb-er.
Once all six rods were back out, and we thought we had time for a cuppa, we had three on at once. Luckily, one dived deep, one went forward and one went aft, so we were able to play all three at once. No whoppers, (30 - 40lb), but good sport.
The day went on to produce another ten blue shark, the best of which was battled and caught by Guy (see pic). Fourteen blues on one day set the record number for the Bessie Vee - so far! The same group will be back next month to try again.View Boats Page

Hi Everyone, Summer is finally here. The shark season exploded into life last week with Murray Collings (Swallow) catching the first three sharks in one day. Since then, all boats that have been on shark fishing trips out of Looe, have all been sucessful in catching, including yours truly, on Saturday 25th June (my first shark trip of 2011). Caught three sharks in total, including one of just under 100lbs (!) and missed a fourth. I would suggest that if you haven't booked your fishing trips yet, get dialling!! See you soon! Regards Pete

Report on-board Bessie Vee
The summer cod seems to have turned up in the Western Approaches - have had large catch numbers (up to sixty cod); though the average size remains from 4 - 8lb. In amongst them, there have been some bigger ones weighing between 12 and 16lb - though we have yet to beat the 20lb mark.
Inshore wrecks are producing large quantities of channel whiting, ranging from 1 - 6lb, and in amongst them are codlings, small coleys and haddock.
Conger are now beginning to show in numbers after a slow start (probably due to the large amount of whiting)! Best weight conger so far has been 52lb; but hope to break that on the next tide, when we have the Conger Kings down!View Boats Page

Hi everyone and welcome to the 2011 season. Have just got Force Ten up and running after a long (13 wk wait for g/box to arrive) Did a shake down trip today and had a few Ling and Pouting. Dates available thru May and June but after that its very busy in diary. Last year was a great year for Sharking and we are hoping for a repeat so anyone wanting to book I am afraid its only selected weekdays left!
The reef fishing is a little slow at moment but sea temp is rising and the Congers will be snapping soon enough. Looking fwd to seeing regulars and new faces this year. Good Luck and tight lines, Pete DavisView Boats Page
