What a day for the lsds from manchester yesterday on Sea-Otter 2 the weather forcast wasnt brilliant but how wrong they can be we decided to go wrecking but the first option with the wind forcast was to go uptiding .
The lads were loaded with squid and off course shads as well and what a day it turned out to be shads were just dynomite for late october the fishing was awesome and especially on the wrecks i targetted. we didnt fish no further out than 3 miles out all day the water was very clear perfect for the inshore wrecks .
The winter fishing here at whitby looks like being mental dont forget the whitby sea anglers uptiding festival starts on 7th november and finishes on 22nd £1000 top prize for biggist cod plus its a total of £3000 in cash prizes so come on lads the fishing shoul be very good and some belting prize money .

Off yesterday cancelled today due strong westerly winds forcast but the lads yesterday got a taste of some very nice fishing indeed the winter Uptiding on the cod has now well and truelly exploded the lads had some great sport first time Uptiding at Whitby and what a taster they got.
It's been a little late fireing up due to the late Autum but wow those cod were jumping aboard squid and black gulley doing the damage and with the very big tides next week it should be very good indeed .
A couple of 6lbers took in 50ft of water on the light tackle the lads plenty of cod fillets to home .

Finally we've got a spare day or two to report on our last week or so here at Whitby, The Mistress anglers have been rewarded with some great fishing still when we have been getting offshore, with some cracking bags of fish, with 20-30 fish per angler not uncommon, again all on shads one at a time on light gear. We have had fish around double figures most days we have been getting offshore too.
With conditions not being perfect to run offshore one day and a lift in tides this week we had a go at the uptiding again, we got off to great start with anglers getting double hook-ups of cod on their pennel rigs, and some real nice fat 5/6lbers too, but as the breeze got up we struggled holding position with wind against tide, but we were still clicking a few codlings but had to call it a day with deteriorating sea conditions. the lads still enjoyed their day with cod upto 6lb and ling upto 7lb.
We are currently experiencing another bout of poor weather with fresh easterly winds keeping us ashore. It has given me time to get out shore fishing a bit with plenty of fish inshore, so the prospects look good for the uptiding once this sea dies away sufficiently for us to get back out at em!

Saturday saw us Joined by 10 year old Jack Rowlands with his dad celebrating his birthday and trying out his new rod. After trying a few inshore wrecks for a few fish Skipper Paul Eddon decided to shoot off to some ground on the 15 mile mark What a great move that turned out to be. We were catching Cod,Ling,Pollack and coal fish in a steady supply. Young Jack had a few codling on the shad but when he put a string of hokki's on that were baited with a sliver of squid and he had a cracking bite that turned into a "Lump" on the end. After about a 15-20 min fight of steady winding Jack boated his PB with a Ling that took the boat scales around to 15lb . The fish also won Jack a Free trip next time aboard Trot On. WELL DONE JACK . Trot On still has a few places available for the coming week so book early to avoid disappointment
Yesterdays lads asked if we could try target Pollack and Ling which I thought was an unusual request after the amount of Cod we've been seeing recently. Each one to their own though I guess.
We started the day by gathering a few fresh Mackerel which is always the best bait for the Ling. After boating around 25, we headed out and began work. A couple of the first marks producing steady up until lunch time. 60 or so fish for the boat. A mixture of Pollack, Ling and cod.
The afternoon tide didn't improve things much more for us with just another dozen or so fish being landed.
Not quite the fishing that we've been seeing of late but the lads all thoroughly enjoyed their day with us.

Another excellent day for the lads on Sea-otter 2 Gary and the lads from Sheffield worked shads nearly all day to maximum affect some belting fish and plenty of them a lot more to come .

A bit of a strange one to weigh up weather wise for today's trip. Variable winds to start the day going NW later. A betwixed and between one. However, once put to the vote, the lads decided to come and have a go.
A bit of swell to welcome us first thing but with the wind at absolute zero there wasn't a problem at all, in fact, a "glass like" sea / swell !!
We had a run to the ground on the 5 mile which produced a few nice fish with Pollack to the 6lb mark and a good number of Codling and ling. The lads at the end of the day all pleased with the outcome of the days efforts.
Ex professional footballer and now playing for Whitby Town F.C Lee Bullock joined us for today's trip. This was his maiden sea trip in the U.K and he was delighted with his dozen fish. The rest of the group ending up with similar amounts plus oodles of Mackerel !!
