The amount of fish here at Whitby at the moment is fantastic and the best part about it is it's right on our doorstep!!
Since the last report here on CBUK the lads have enjoyed some really quite amazing sport. Most of the fish are of a similar stamp around the 3lb to 5lb mark which is a great size for the pan!!
Yesterdays crew were two groups and a single making up the full boat. Eric Davison's group from the West Riding, Chris Booth's lads from the North East and single angler Steve Bulliment from East Yorkshire.
The day started off relatively slow compared to the last few trips but this was down to the WNW breeze against the tide which almost held the boat at a standstill. Not good for the ground fishing which is where we have been seeing the best results of late. So we decided to drop on a couple of wrecks for just a hand full of fish apiece. As the breeze eased away I decided that a run off a bit further was in order and popped out to a strip of ground unknown to many, some 8 miles from the harbour. This was like a trip down memory lane for me as I hadn't been there for over a year!! As soon as we stopped on the first feed mark and all the gear hit the bottom I knew we were in for a good time. Every rod on the boat bent in to fish. Bingo!!!
Shads and baited Hokkai's taking the bulk of the fish which were coming on board in trebles at one point!!
We managed 6 drifts across the ridge where we took over 100 cod!! A terrific end to what looked like being a fairly standard sort of day at the beginning. We'll be straight back there again as soon as this nasty bit of weather passes.
We only have one day left in June now where the boat is empty. This is the 16th June.
There are 3 dates left in June with spaces for individuals or small groups.

Summer is finally here - apparently!
It was a shabby start this morning at whitby as forecast, but it fell away sooner than i imagined - thankfully!
The eager lads took a steady picking through the morning until the weather eased back, then it was like a switch was thrown a quick move and the rods were bucking over to the tune of cod!
We moved around a few marks during afternoon as the sport fell away we moved and found fish everywhere we stopped!
The lads had heard through the grapevine that mackerel may be about, so with a bit of a concerted effort towards the end of the day manged a few strings a piece.
Plenty of nice cod for our anglers again today some really bonny fish landed most in the 4-5lb region.

Another good trip out on the wrecks today
Conditions were not brilliant with a small amount of swell and quite a lot of wind but the anglers still managed to get on the fish from the first drift. No tactic seamed to work better today with anglers managing to catch on pretty much anything. And the amount of cod about has been great
We even had our first couple of mackerel aboard so hopefully we will see some more over the next few months.

Another good days fishing again today at Scarborough
We travelled to the same spot as yesterday and fishing was OK but not the same as the day before. The fish were mainly Codlings around 2 to 5lb. After a few hours we decided to give the inshore wrecks a gamble and fishing was fantastic with 3 of the 5 rods bending over on the first drift.
After fishing the wreck for some time we managed to catch a Good amount of cod around the 6lb area.
We then moved further off shore with the wrecks been fairly quiet with only a few fish showing.
Between the 5 anglers fishing we managed to boat over 70 fish with one angler managing to catch over 20 cod to himself in a 6 hour trip. View Boats Page

What a fantastic trip we have had today fishing Inshore
First drop when we got to the mark mels rod doubled over and another customer wound a pair of Codlings up and Mel wound in a 14lb cod which he returned strait after the photo as it looked to good to keep.
From then on the fishing carried on with several of us getting double hook ups of cod.
After the tide easied the fishing became harder as the tide increased then we decided to move tighter inshore and again we started hitting more double hook ups of decent size cod yet again.
After a few hours fishing we had returned several good size fish to fight another day and only kept the fish which wouldnt survive as they had been deeply hooked.
In total the 6 anglers boated near on 200 fish with plenty to take home.
And the size of the fish has greatly improved recently with us having several fish around the 7-9lb area

Seeing as we managed a good yesterday, I couldn't resist heading back to the same area we were working,
We tried a couple of marks we fished yesterday but for very little reward so had to push a bit further afield, the fresh NW wind making it hard work for the lads too, but it all came good once that sea slowed down and we dropped on a few new spots.
It was a great laugh too, We had mostly regulars onboard so there was plenty of banter among ourselves all day.
We finished up nearly 20 miles from home and still banging fish out each drift on shads and bait, anyway we called lines up at around 1430hrs and took a steady steam home,
Many of you will have met my mate Alex who was onboard helping again today, anyway Alex took the wheel and I ended up filleting the whole way back home for the lads, I was sick of the sight of fish when we got back!
Another cracking day with plenty of fish all good stamp and ling just shy of double figures,

Some regular faces aboard the boat yesterday making up a mixed group of 10 anglers.
With conditions nigh on perfect we decided to make a start on some fairly inshore wrecks. The first couple didn't produce too much with around 15 fish or so off the pair. The 3rd however did show signs of a reasonable fishing on both the artificials and the bait where the lads took around 30 more fish.
I decided to try a couple of inshore wrecks in the "shallows" next, working in just over 30 meters of water. The first of the 2 produced a dozen or so. Our best cod of the day coming off that one, weighing a shade over 8.5lbs. Josh from Leeds enjoying some exciting sport with that one!! This was his 2nd trip ever and was overjoyed with his fish!! The 2nd of the 2 in the shallower produced very little where I guessed the water was just too mucky.
We finished off on the rough ground just 3 miles from the harbour where we raked another 12 or so small codling to round the day off. All in all a very enjoyable day with the best catch on board going to Derek Wiggins from Leeds with 18 cod. He caught all but one of his fish on a single jig.

Once again another corker of a day on Sea -Otter 2 its dynomite cod fishing here at whitby stacks of fish for the lads gilbert a regualar on Sea -Otter 2 his mates hit the jackpot some very good fishing in deed shads are going the buisness .

3 hour Wrecking Trips today
First Trip was very successful with several anglers getting a fish every drift, with a good mix of Species.
we had several pouting, whiting, cod up to 8lb, ling upto 7lb and a Pollock.
The second trip Produced Cod upto 9lb and ling upto 6lb as well as several pouting.
Great to see good size fish caught by young anglers.
We have several 3 Hour Trips running in the next few weeks which are ideal for Young, new anglers and even the more experienced anglers have enjoyed these trips

Winner of this years 2015 Spring angling competition Marek Pracowity visited Whitby again the other day to collect his prize money.
Marek from Leicester joined us in the "Station Inn" (competition sponsors) to be presented with his £1000.00 in cash.
His winning cod of 14lb 12.5oz caught on the last day of the event on the Shy-Torque III also won him the daily 1st prize of £50.00
Marek said he was going to treat his wife and children to some lovely presents with the money. He also said he would be returning to have a go for the massive prize money on offer in the Summer competition. Good luck mate!!
