    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    Hi all,

Been a long time since my last report which I must sincerely apologise for but I've had some serious issues going on in my life just recently. I won't bore you!

    To the fishing!

The last month or two have not been overly exceptional with the cod fishing but what we have been getting has been of a reasonable stamp with cod to just over the 15lb mark. Better things around the corner now (summer) is here????!!

The shark fishing here at Whitby has yet again been good with 5 fish boated so far out of 8 trips and several fish also being lost. The best fish to press this year being Richard Furness's at around 235lb (pictured)

The weather at the moment is not playing fair at all with the wind coming out of the North for the last week or so. None of the boats have moved anywhere due to this but we are hoping for some lighter winds over the next few days, fingers crossed!!

If you fancy a trip anytime, either a general days bottom/wreck fishing or a days sharking please don't hesitate to give me a call on 07733 233352

I'll try not to leave it so long till my next reports!!

    Cheers
    Rich.

    Report on-board Sea Otter 2

Yesterday was a day on the water with my sponsors pure fishing we were out on the first leg on testing the new ugly stick on sea -otter 2 which is the start of the uk tour tour on pure fishing sponsored boats testing the new rod it got its full work out the 12-20lb is lovelly peice of kit for shadding great action and handles the fish with ease another great rod added in the famous Shackespeare Ugly Stick range .

The lads onboard from part of the purefishing team was Mike Thrussel , James Robbins , Mike Thrussel jnr , and Big dave Marketing we were eager on testing the new rod my hunch was good for a bit of shadding in the shallow water under the cliffs a little bird told me its been teaming with cod in there its only 10 minutes from the harbour the lads were keen.

There was four guests onboard the one who caught biggist fish over the day got a one of new 12-20lb Ugly Sticks so everybody sharpening there hooks some serious anglers debbie oswold and husband dirk and mac and his buddy were the four guests who was going to win the rod you could of heard a pin drop for first hour the fish were coming steady some nice fish upto 6lb right where we do the uptiding in winter amazing just whats in the shallow water in summer you dont need to blaze over the horizon to get good fishing its a stone throw from the shore.

Everybody with a few of there fish .

4 hour Wrecking Trip joint with the Queensferry

today we had the lads from fussy engineering, their were 19 anglers fishing from the skylark and the Queensferry.

we steamed together to a wreck a few miles from Scarborough and shared the wreck with the Queensferry to allow the lads to have a bit of good banter between the boats.

sea conditions were slightly unsettled with a very few of the lads suffering from sea sickness

we managed to get a good amount of cod in a short space of time and a few small ling. one lad even managed to get a brace of pesky pouting.

    3 Hour Wrecking Trip

Fishing the inshore wrecks off burniston
(Only a half hour steam from Scarborough)

From the Start we managed to board some nice cod around the 3 to 5 1/2 lb mark, some blegs and whitting everyone managed to catch something which was great.

then in the last half hour over slack water we managed to get a couple of ling around 5lb.

great to see a better stamp of fish coming aboard and signs the wrecks are starting to hold a bit of fish already.

    Report on-board Skylark

Had no Booking today So i decided to have a go for a couple of hours on the N E Corner, just off Marine Drive.

From the moment i got anchored and wet a line i got bites strait away and had my first fish out in less than 3 minutes not a massive cod but one ideal for the pan. re baited up and same again. had 5 fish out in the first hour then as the tide increased a bit more the fishing slowed down with hooks been stripped by crabs. i managed to get 3 crabs to the surface before they decided to let go of the bait.

managed to get another two cod out when the crabs decided to leave the bait alone long enough for a cod to sniff it out.

then when i decided i had enough for a couple of frys i wound in and found a dab layed on.

what a cracking few hours fishing .

    Report on-board Skylark

3 hour trip and a double figure Cod!!!

water had turned back to soup after the short blow we had last week.
so it was back to bait fishing at anchor again.

a few minutes after dropping the anchor into the rough ground off Burniston one of the lads get a tiny rattle and wound in a tadpole fish. the first one we have seen this year, then after returning the fish to fight another day his rod just bent over double and when he lifted the rod he got a good nod on the rod. when he got the fish to the surface he couldn't believe his eyes his first ever cod and one weighing just less than 12 lb. at this point the other customers just couldn't understand why they hadn't even had a bite at this point.

then after half an hour a few more bites developed into smaller cod around the 3 lb mark, a lessor spotted dogfish (5th One we have had this year) and a few blegs.
