Report on-board Mistress
Its 2345hrs and I've litterally just got in from my two trips today, we have absolutely smashed the cod all day and all night here at Whitby!
Our day trip saw the Mistress anglers boat well over 100 cod with quite a few chuck backs, the best lad boating around 25 fish himself, my mate and local Mistress regular Alan Ward messaged me to say him and his pal had 4 stone in fillets between them and had had a fantasic day with us, absolutely awesome fishing by any standards.
Our night trip saw the lads (and lasses) boat around 60 cod again with a few chuck backs.
Best baits were Black lug, unwashed squid and crab cart. Which i can supply if required.
The uptiding this year has seen more consistent and better bags of fish per angler than the wreck and ground fishing.
Tomorrow is the start of the uptide festival with a massive £1000 for the first prize with only £5 per person entry fee on top of your charter.
We have plenty of midweek dates available throughout the event, the whole of the two weeks has awesome tides.

Yet another fresh NW breeze welcomed us again yesterday here at Whitby, but as of late the forecast was to drop away all day long which thankfully it did. By 10am conditions for the offshore marks were good with a steady 10 mph Westerly breeze.
Tony Porter and his mates from Stoke on Trent joined us yesterday. The majority of the group were relatively new to the sea angling scene but were all well experienced fresh water anglers. With a little guidance and support we sharp had them knocking the fish out. The entire catch yesterday was caught on the bait. The best bait being squid again.
A good mixture of Cod and Ling for the lads. The best falling to the organiser Tony, a lovely Ling of 16 lb 15 oz.
Lithuanian Ricardas, "Dolf" managed the second heaviest of the day, another fine Ling of 16 lb 1 oz.
Tony and the lads are due to fish with us again in about 3 weeks. Lets hope for some more great fishing then lads.

The last day off for the Shy-Torque was on Friday. We had a regular crew of well seasoned anglers on board who were happy to give it a go on what was something of a 50/50 forecast but was always a decreasing one.
The morning greeted us with a bit of a NW breeze, but nothing we hadn't all put away before and once we had got in to the deeper waters a couple of miles behind the bell bouy, the conditions were getting better all the time.
We pushed out to the 7 mile reefs to start the day where the lads managed around 10 or so fish in the first half hour or so. We then decided to move out to the 9 mile reefs and found the fishing to be much better . In total for the day the group of 6 managed a combined 60 plus fish. Another mixed selection with cod to 7lb and ling to a shade under 13lbs. Pat Armstrong from Cayton Bay just south of Whitby landing the heaviest fish of ther day.

LOOK LOOK The Shy-Torque will be doing "UPTIDING" trips or (inshore trips at anchor) this year over the winter months on the bigger tides. The price per angler will be £35.00 for the day and this includes hot drinks all day on every trip. Don't forget we have the only boat in Whitby with a heated anglers cabin where everyone can be seated if needs be, on those colder days!!!
We will sail with a minimum of 2 anglers and a maximum of 6 anglers on these trips.
The boat will of course still be available for the offshore trips too.

Another few successful days this week at sea for lads aboard Mistress here at Whitby in between these bouts of shocking weather!
Tuesday's 6 hour trip had been planned in for a good while, with no other takers other than Harvey and Tyler from saltburn celebrating tylers birthday that was it, I couldn't let them down so took the two excited lads, even though they'd never been boat fishing before they both left with 8 cod apiece upto 4/5lb, and thrown loads more back, well done boys!
Wednesday we had a few regulars on, I thought we took a slow picking throughout the day but the lads had managed a respectable 50-60 codlings for the day upto 7lb, another great day.
Thursday was a bit slower, we got some inshore wrecks before dropping back inside uptiding taking fish everywhere, some spots better than others. Everyone still left with a good few fish apiece.
Black lug and squid fishing the best this week but fish still taking cart readily enough. We have bait available onboard if required please let me know your requirements the night before.
Martin at Whitby angling will be opening specially for our anglers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings when we have a late start. Please ignor any rumours that you might hear about whitby angling supplies closing down, they have some superb bait instock including crab cart, as well as top of the range tackle and accessories.
Uptide festival is fast approaching £1000 1st prize plus many other cash prizes available. Entry is £5 per person on top of the charter fee of £45.
There looks to be a gap in the weather Tuesday then Thursday onwards were currently taking bookings. I will be looking to be running a night trip next week please keep an eye out for updates, please give me a call if you're interested in a trip with us on 07977 436903

The cod fishing here at Whitby has been excellent we have been Uptiding and it’s been non stop action big northerly winds to hit over the weekend and the water will really colour up excellent for the Uptiding and with the tides on the up after the weekend next week should see some superb cod fishing we have spaces next week so if you fancy getting in on the cod action give me a bell on 07748705695.

Yesterday's group enjoyed a days rough ground fishing on the 9 mile boating around 70 fish between themselves. Plenty of different species boated. Lots of nice filleted fish for one and all for the table. Nothing big on this trip, the best going around 7lbs. Thanks to my lad Adam for filleting it all on the way back to port.

The boat operates all year round, weekdays and weekends and we will sail with a minimum of 3 anglers at this time of year.

The last few days Uptiding on Sea-Otter 2 has been very good Friday the lads just smashed it with around 100 cod onboard a fantastic days sport for the boys and many many fish returned .
Saturday the wind didn't help the guys were allready here in Whitby so we turned out and a first time Uptiding for the lads they were well happy plenty of nice cod fillets to take home I have spaces this week and with a good forcast as well the fishing should be very good indeed so if want some of the cod action give me a ring on 07748705696 . Bradford SAC joined us yesterday. Just 4 of the club turned up due to others having work commitments etc.
Because we had a nice light boat I was hoping to get a good run in and treat them to some offshore wrecking. Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite good enough to do that so we made a day of it working the more inshore marks. Nothing much to report inside 5 miles apart from stacks of Mackerel of which some were monsters!! As we moved a little further off we found the bottom fishing got better and better.
The ground on the 9 mile was fishing really well as we approached slack water. The majority of the fish were coming up on the bait, primarily Mackerel. Nice to see the Cod are starting to show up in stronger numbers at last. As I said before, once the "feed" starts depleting from the water the Cod fishing usually does start getting better and the signs are that that is happening now. Really looking forward to the Winter fishing. It is very often as good, if not better than the Summer fishing.
Steve Adams had the best day out of the group with some 15 fish for himself with Cod to 10lb 5oz.
Richard Spencer from Skipton had the heaviest fish of the day, a Ling of 12lb 4oz. He also bagged a couple of nice Cod as well to around the 10lb mark.
The lads ended up with around 50 white fish between them for the day and are pictured inset with some of their catch. Look forward to seeing you again soon lads.

Another great day uptiding yesterday on-board Mistress here at Whitby, around 60 codlings kept to 6/7lb between 5 of us, all keepers were 40cm + with many under that thrown back. Top bait was again crab cart, worm and squid also taking fish.

The Whitby uptide festival is taking place from the 4th - 19th November. We still have places available. 1st prize is £1000 for the heaviest cod plus cash prizes for top ten heaviest cod, any other species, juniors and heaviest bag plus daily prizes

The downtiding on the cod has explode here at whitby yesterday had over 80 cod on the boat the some great sport non stop action windy Tommorow some spaces on Thursday and Friday so if you fancy getting some cod for the freezer here is your chance .
