Sea -Otter 2 leads the way in the WCSA £5000 grand summer festival with a 24 lb 7 oz ling a belting fish which has set the pace a long way to go till the festival finishes a week on Sunday but a very nice fish indeed .

Sunday saw us joined by a mix of anglers hoping to be in with a chance of winning the W.C.S.A summer festival and the £5000 1st place prize. Fishing was hard today due to the big tides and a stiff breeze in the aftetnoon did not help. However Martin from E. Yorks managed to tempt a Ling of over 10lb to win the daily prize of £50 we had a varied selection of fish with Cod, Ling, Whiting, Pollack, Coalies and Pouting as well as the odd few mackerel which are starting to show up. todays 8 hour inshore trip
Not the greatest conditions with these winds but still some nice fish showing
Heaviest fish on this trip was a cod just over 10 1/2lb caught by Dave.
The lads also had several codlings and good size billet with they returned and a good bucket full of mackerel View Boats Page

Had a group of welsh lads on Sea-Otter 2 for the last 2 days they had 2 excellent days fishing stacks of cod and ling and to top there trip on Sea-Otter 2 young Arron hit the top of the leader board in the £5000 1st WCSA festival with a cod of 15lb 7 oz he also won £50 for wining the daily prize plus one of the other lads also took 3 Rd heaviest of the daily as well the lads have allready booked there 2 days fishing next year on Sea-Otter 2 .

A couple of reasonable days over the start of the 2016 Summer competition. A couple of "Not so good ones too!" These mainly down to days spoiled by poor weather.
A couple of daily 1st places so far too!!
Simon England taking today's 1st place with a lovely cod of 14lb 2oz.

A great 4 hour Wrecking Trip
not ideal tides for the wrecks but as slack water was halfway through the trip this gave the anglers the ideal opportunity to have a go on the inshore wrecks.
The anglers managed to get several Cod, Ling and pollock with a great stamp of fish showing View Boats Page

Some of the fish caught on todays 8 hour
A great day with a variety of species caught from the rough ground, clean ground and wrecks.
Overall the lads manage to catch 8 different species throughout the day.
overall the best fish caught was a 11lb Thornback ray with a second fish just slightly behind it just over 10lb, all the rays were returned today unharmed to fight another day, which it great to see.
we even got a glimpse of the Queen Mary Passing by View Boats Page

Photos from our 3 hour trip today on the wrecks
we only had a few customers but they still managed to catch a good amount of fish with some nice stamp cod and ling showing up.
They also caught loads of strappy ling which were returned
We still have several spaces for a 3 hour wrecking trip tomorrow fishing 9.30 till 12.30
£20 Adults £15 for under 16s Including use of rods, reels tackle and bait, (No Additional Costs and we fish rough ground and wrecks)

Fishing very hit and miss at present lads. No great shakes to be perfectly honest. The Mackerel however are just starting to show signs of arriving. Not many as yet but here's hoping!! Could certainly do with a few more showing up during the competition.

Hi all,
Sorry it's been a while since we reported in but it has all been rather hectic for the Shy-Torque anglers of late and I've been suffering from a really nasty Kidney infection so not been on top form really.
I won't go into too much detail about the catches but on the whole the fishing has been very acceptable indeed. As always, we have had a few days where they have been a little illusive too. That's fishing!!
We had one of our association sponsors on board the other day. Bob Ellis from "Focus Training" his son Sam and a friend who helps Bob run his own private boat here at Whitby, Richard.
The trip was initially booked as a sharking trip, but because the Mackerel are running a little late again this year and the first couple of shark trips have proved negative we decided that a general days bottom fishing for Cod was going to be in order.
We kicked off the day a little slow working a few wrecks off shore. No great shakes, so we started making our way back towards Whitby dropping on various bits of scrap and ground. The day ended on the 9 mile rough where we had a lovely picking of Codling and Ling to round the day off.
Bob and the lads have re-scheduled their sharking trip for a day in August when, hopefully, we will be catching plenty of Mackerel and be having more success.
