It alive on the uptiding scene here at whitby the cod are coming in droves another excellent day today for the boys and with the uptiding festival starting novemebr 1st its all coming together 50-60 cod onboard today and it will just get better and better as the winter goes on.
Winter uptiding festival 1st nov --16th nov £4000 in cash prizes.

Its been a while since i posted a report on here its just been so hectic here at whitby through the summer, this week no exception, we have had Cod into double figures, Ling to 20lb and some of the best cod fishing on shads we have seen for a month or two now,
The winter uptiding competition starts on the 1st November and there are some great cash prizes up for grabs, the signs are looking amazing for the uptiding again this year. we still have some good tides dates available, drop me a line on 07977 436903 if youre interested

Scarborough Angling Festival 2014
we had a fantastic festival yet again. managing to take several trophies and prizes. the weather started out quite challenging for the first few matches with the Sunday match been cancelled and postponed until Wednesday.
Day Awards won by the Skylark this year.
Vice admiral of Yorkshire Coast Challenge Trophy - 1st place in the relevant match
The John Gyte Memorial Trophy - Heaviest Cod in the Yorkshire Boating Championship - 8lb 13oz
Heaviest weight of fish from the land rock in two matches.
as well as many other cash and donated prizes throughout the week.
End of Week Specials won by the Skylark this year.
the A. E Horsley Memorial Trophy - Heaviest Weight of fish from the land rock - Chris Darke
The Jack Sullivan Trophy - Heaviest Fish other than Cod or Ling - Rosie Sylpheena - Pollock - 8lb 11oz

Being some very nice cod of late i myself had a drop with a shad and had this fine fish just under the 20lb mark and not a million miles from the shore on wreck just over 2 miles off hopefully a few more fish of this stamp this week as the tides go down.

We are right in the middle of late summer festival and there has neen some excellent fishing stacks of ling the best on sea-otter 2 just short of 20lb but we had cod around the 15lb mark as well so belting fishing for the lads .
Its now not far away to winter cod fishing uptiding festival with over £4000 in prize money on offer over the 2 week competition if the uptiding is anything to go by as to last winter we are in for winter cod frenzy once again the signs look very good indeed a top prize £1000 to angler with the biggist cod over the competition this year we have a top ten leader board with some great prizes plus £125 in dailys as well this is a cod competition so you know just what you are going to catch its all to play for.
The festival starts on the 1st november - 16th november .
Its being ling time over the last week this is a nice fish a 20lb ling. View Boats Page

went with skipper john wilford. Small stuff to begin with until tide changed then hit the big ling . the biggest caught by Kieren Holden weighing in at over 21 lbs.( see photo att ) All round was a brilliant day with plenty of fish caught .pleasure to fish with this skipper , very helpful all round.Re booked again in October that good .end . had two 3 hour trips today.
weather was great with the sea like a mirror and the sun beaming down on us all day.
fishing was perfect with some nice cod pollock and ling showing as well as the usual mackerel for this time of year.

To be fair, I don't think I can remember an August quite as windy as this last one here at Whitby. More cancelled trips than enough!!
On the days we have been getting away, the fishing has been nice and steady with some good size cod and ling showing on the wrecks. The inshore wrecks producing a good number of codling around the 5lb stamp.
The September competition is starting soon ( 13th ) and runs to the 28th. We only have a couple of days left now with any spaces, so if you fance a crack at the big cash prize give me a ring to secure your place.
