Had no Booking today So i decided to have a go for a couple of hours on the N E Corner, just off Marine Drive.
From the moment i got anchored and wet a line i got bites strait away and had my first fish out in less than 3 minutes not a massive cod but one ideal for the pan. re baited up and same again. had 5 fish out in the first hour then as the tide increased a bit more the fishing slowed down with hooks been stripped by crabs. i managed to get 3 crabs to the surface before they decided to let go of the bait.
managed to get another two cod out when the crabs decided to leave the bait alone long enough for a cod to sniff it out.
then when i decided i had enough for a couple of frys i wound in and found a dab layed on.
what a cracking few hours fishing .

3 hour trip and a double figure Cod!!!
water had turned back to soup after the short blow we had last week.
so it was back to bait fishing at anchor again.
a few minutes after dropping the anchor into the rough ground off Burniston one of the lads get a tiny rattle and wound in a tadpole fish. the first one we have seen this year, then after returning the fish to fight another day his rod just bent over double and when he lifted the rod he got a good nod on the rod. when he got the fish to the surface he couldn't believe his eyes his first ever cod and one weighing just less than 12 lb. at this point the other customers just couldn't understand why they hadn't even had a bite at this point.
then after half an hour a few more bites developed into smaller cod around the 3 lb mark, a lessor spotted dogfish (5th One we have had this year) and a few blegs. View Boats Page

Been with two dogs today very good conditions and john put us on the fish like he always does would recommend two dogs to anyone.we fished 8 wrecks and took cod to 8lb and tom mathers got the biggest with a 10lb ling.We also managed to take a few fat pollock too but the surprise of the day was bob deakins 3lb plaice took off a bit off ground between 2 bits of wreckage great day good crack as always with john top man top skipper.

A great day out with John, found plenty of fish on a couple of wrecks south of Whitby, Jim Foster landed this fine early summer ling of 15lb we also had cod to 9lb and a couple of bonus pollock.

Some fantastic cod fishing to be had here at Whitby on the Shy-Torque at the moment.
Sadly the weather has let us down badly now with fresh NE winds.
The wrecks out on the 20 mile stream have produced not only good amounts of cod but also some real quality fish too. Our best fish over the last few trips falling to Gordon from Rill.
Gordon is pictured with his cracking cod which was a shade over 15lbs.

A great day out with Rich & Dean AKA Team Mistress.
As always- 110% effort and the anglers were rewarded with a great days lure fishing.
Lots of cod hitting the shads & sidewinders with plenty of times when everyone on the boat was into a fish.
A bona fide example of a good days shadding out of Whitby.
I kept dropping a few fish off but still took 9 fine cod home and returned a few too.
For knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to help- few boats match the lads on Mistress and I would recommend them to any angler looking for a good days boat fishing on the Yorkshire Coast. View Boats Page

Had young jack and his dad john over the weekend and just what can you say about this young man 12 years old and kicks everybodys arse once again 2 cracking fish for the lad the summer cod boom here at whitby is just about to explode the algie is near on gone so some big catches can be expected anytime.

This weekend has seen some of the best fishing for a while here at Whitby.
Both sunday and monday the lads onboard managed well over 100 cod each day between them. all on shads.
There were many thrown back for another day too which is always encouraging to see. nothing big, all between 2lb and 6lb giving some great sport on light gear.
lets hope this is the sign of things to come once the algae clears properly
