Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
It’s rare in fishing to have two days exactly the same…..and today was no different; it was almost a complete contrast from yesterday.
View Boats Page
With a full boat booking for six anglers who I know well; it was always going to be a great day out for me. With experienced anglers on board, we headed out to try a few wrecks. First stop saw us with two hours fishing before slack water, which turned out to be pretty decent. The wind and tide combination gave us a funny East to West drift which meant we crossed the wreck instead of running along it, but we still picked up a good few fish.
The last few trips have started to see an increase in the number of Ling coming aboard and that continued today; Jeff Turner taking the biggest one, just into double figures.
Slack water was rubbish (as it has been for a few weeks now), so we headed off to another wreck, arriving just as the Ebb tide got away. For whatever reason, we didn’t find huge numbers of fish after dinner. There were a few Pollock and Coalie’s on the jelly worms and and a few Codling up to 4lb, but it certainly wasn’t prolific. The lads kept at it and top rod for the day, Stuart Mills snuck up a few more Codling.
Weather conditions were beautiful, the company was outstanding, I just wish the fish had been a bit more cooperative. Thanks for a great day today boys. See you again in a few weeks.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

A perfect day for a cruise yesterday with the tides still on the large side.
View Boats Page
We sailed a little earlier at 6.0am so as to arrive at our marks an hour before slack water.
From the off we were knocking the fish out and the lads picked steadily for 2-3 hours.
As the tide increased on the ebb the fishing slowed a lot and we were just picking the odd fish up.
Baited Hokkai rigs probably fished best on the day but I personally had 7 Cod fair and square on the Shad, indicating the water is nice and clear offshore.
All in all another cracking day on the water.
Bryan Stanton taking the best bag with 12 himself.
Fish to 7.5 lbs.
Cheers
Rich

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After another few days off with poor weather, we were back out again today on a Spring tide with a great group of lads.
View Boats Page
Due to the size of the tide, we fished the majority of the day on rough ground and dropped on a couple of wrecks when the tide eased at slack water. We caught the last hour or so of the flood tide in the morning, and picked up a few Codling and Whiting. On the run into slack water we moved to a wreck and had some better sized fish to 4lb, but that only lasted until we lost the tide.
Slack water was very unproductive, but at the first signs of the flood getting away, the bites started again. The Ling came on the feed and we picked away nicely with Codling and Ling. Nigel Hughes managed the biggest Ling of the day at 9lb 8oz and Richard Hurst had the biggest Codling at 5lb 4oz.
The sun really broke through in the afternoon and conditions were glorious. We kept on picking a few up here and there for the remainder of the day. Most fish came to Hokkai’s baited with squid on the ground. But Shads and muppets on squid bait traces featured well on the wrecks.
Not exceptional fishing, but definitely steady away. Well done lads on some good angling.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After missing all of last week with poor weather conditions, it was great to have a day out yesterday. A group of mixed abilities on board from novice to very experienced. With it being a larger tide, the majority of the day was to be spent drifting the rough ground and then have a drop on a wreck around slack water.
View Boats Page
First stop was on the 7 mile ground, but for whatever reason, there wasn’t much coming up. A move out to the 9 mile ground heralded much better results. There were plenty of bites to be had from all sorts of fish. We took Ling Codling, Haddock, Pollock, Whiting, Pouting, and even a Scorpion Fish.
When the Ebb Tide slackened we took the opportunity to drift a wreck and in amongst the stacks of Pouting we found a few better fish with a couple of 5lb Codling and a 6lb Ling being the biggest of the day.
The majority of the fish fell to Hokkai’s baited with small bits of Squid, although some of the better fish came to baited muppets.
Everyone took a few home but also put back loads of fish which were “size”. The wind fell away late morning and the remainder of the day was beautiful sunshine.
All in all a lovely day at sea, with a great bunch of lads.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Our mixed group travelled from all corners to fish with us, with lads from as far afield as Birmingham.
The day started slow on a couple of offshore wrecks with just 5 fish being caught so we ran back to the ground on the 9 mile where a mate of mine was finding a few.
We managed to pick away until slack water which saved the day. Mostly Codling around the 3 lb mark with an “odd” slightly better one here and there.
Fabulous flat calm weather for the lads making the day a pleasure. Best Codling of the day 7lb 5oz. Didn’t get the lads name.
Cheers and tight lines,
Rich

A run out to a few offshore wrecks was in order again. With nothing landed at the first wreck, a move was certainly on the cards. Thankfully, the next two wrecks yielded much better results, with some decent sized Codling coming up.
Steve Atherton took the biggest (and our first double off the wrecks this year) at 10lb 4oz. This was backed with a couple of 7lb+ fish. It seems that a few better fish are starting to sneak in now, which is great.
Muppets on bait traces baited with squid were the most successful tactic, but a few also came up on Pirks as well.
Unfortunately, the weather looks rubbish for the next few days, but hopefully the wrecks will continue to fill up up with decent fish while we’re ashore.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

It’s been a busy week of mixed fortunes on the fishing front. On Monday and Wednesday, using the tide we ran off to fish a couple wrecks down south.
View Boats Page
Despite the wrecks marking plenty of fish, the rewards on board were not quite the same. On both days we picked off a few Codling to 5lb 8oz and then had to run back in and drift the rough ground to get a few more fish to take home. The rough ground certainly has plenty of smaller fish on it, which is great to see.
Yesterday we ran off North to look at a couple of wrecks in the 20 mile stream. We picked off a few Codling and Whiting, but nothing exceptional. It wasn’t until after dinner on the Ebb Tide, that we finally got amongst a few on the third wreck of the day. With Codling to 6lb and Ling to 9lb, it was 3-4 fish most drifts, which was a good reward for some great angling.
Hopefully the inshore wrecks will start to throw up a few more fish in the coming weeks. The Mackerel haven’t arrived yet, so Squid has accounted for 95% of the fish caught. Thanks to everyone for having a trip out with me this week, I really appreciate it.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl
