Again some really impressive fish for the first time anglers everyone caught something either been a cod, pollock or a few mackerel.

Great weather, great company and great fishing……. They say the sun always shines on the righteous and today it certainly did.
It was one of those days where the water was clear, the winds were light, the tides were good; which led to the fish feeding well for us all day. We stayed inside on the inshore wrecks and fished half a dozen of them throughout the day and they all produced a good picking of fish for us. We had Ling to just shy of 11lb, Cod of a good average size (4-5lb) up to 8lb 8oz and everyone took plenty of fish home.
Although we had caught some Mackerel for bait, which did account for numerous fish; whole squid on a pennel with a muppet had the edge. We also took a couple on Rhubarb and Custard Shads.
All in all a quite excellent day. Wish they were all like this!! Well done boys, great angling today. View Boats Page

A great 8 hr trip to say with alot better stamp of cod showing. Also plenty of good size pollock aswel

After yet another period of inconsistent weather and fishing (hence lack of reports,) we finally had a decent day out today, with some nice Cod landed.
Fishing the inshore wrecks and rough ground, we caught fresh mackerel for bait, which was used in conjunction with either squid or king prawn (nothing on the Shads today).
The fishing on the flood tide was pretty reasonable, but things definitely improved at slack water and the first hour of ebb, where we took a decent picking. The wind kicked up early afternoon, which made setting the drift and getting the lines down difficult, but the boys all did brilliantly.
We ended the day with half an hour’s mackerel bashing, so everyone got some for the BBQ. View Boats Page

Today saw a boat of mixed abilities on board. Half the anglers had never sea fished before and at the other end of the scale we had Sea Urchin regular Ian Kellock who’s been fishing since it was invented!!
Having tracked down some Mackerel to supplement the squid bait, we chose to stay on the inshore wrecks as the water looked pretty clear. It proved to be a pretty consistent day. We caught fish on every wreck we visited, with at least a couple, most drifts. Mick Robershaw landed the biggest fish of the day, with a nice 12lb Ling, which would have won us the daily prize in the festival if Mick had entered. Danius made the long journey from Brighton and had a couple of quality Codling and a nice 6lb Pollock and the less experienced anglers picked a few fish up (in between vomiting)!!
Inevitably, top rod for the day was Ian Kellock, who rattled out a mix of Ling and Codling to 8lb, ending with a dozen keepers plus half a dozen Ling he returned.
Squid on a muppet bait trace was best for Cod and the Ling preferred the Mackerel. However, the biggest Ling fell for a tiny bait on a set of Hokkai’s (clearly didn’t read the rule book)!!
The weather is looking settled for a few days now, so hopefully we’ll keep at it. View Boats Page

Things are finally showing signs of improvement.
As mentioned previously, the fishing has been difficult recently, with many of the wrecks producing nothing for us…..very frustrating, for me and the anglers.
Simon Ulyott and five of his friends regularly book the boat for themselves, the banter flows all day and it is generally a great day out. We had a fairly quiet morning and just as we were thinking it was going to be another dire day, things picked up at slack water and for the remainder of the day.
The Ling were feeding well and a whole Mackerel with the fillets removed provided Simon with a lovely brace of Ling, the best one going 8lb. Norman was top rod taking a catch of Codling up to 5lb. Everyone managed a fish or two to take home, which was a welcome relief. Here’s hoping things continue to improve. Well done boys. View Boats Page
