Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
Out today uptiding with six lads from teesside and two lads from London, tides were a bit small but all caught well, best fish was this cod caught by the dad of the party of six who ended up with a box full for himself. Still have one or two spaces for 6th, 7th and 9th if anyone is available.

Well we’re do I start, January has been a cracking month for both fishing and days at sea with settled weather throughout the month. We have been working hard on the uptide/downtide grounds and have seen some belting fish over the rails . Some days we have had 100 plus codlings over the rails with the average stamp around the 2lb to 4lb mark but this month saw regular Dave Jenkins boat a couple of crackers into double figures on the same trip of 11lb 2 ounce and the second over 14lb. We have also had pollock to 7lb and few doggies here and there. We now have the WCSA festival dates which are for the competitions here at Whitby below.
The Spring competition dates are April 18th to May 3rd INC. Big cash prizes!!
The Summer competition dates are June 27th to July 19th INC Get yourselves a trip booked to have a chance of winning a prize worth up to £5000.00 in pound notes!!
The late Summer competition dates are August 29th to September 13th INC You can book any places as from now. Please note booking early will result in you getting the best tides especially over the summer festival and autumn festival as it’s mostly over the wrecks and rough ground. We are also taking bookings for our 2 and 3 hr taster trips which are ideal for family’s and beginners . Hi guys, well, time for an update, its been an absolutely belting week for the anglers aboard us.
Both day and night trips have produced good numbers of fish, our anglers have been responsible returning many sized fish and keeping just a handful for the table. a few days have seen well over 100 codlings over the gunnels, each day.
Best bait remains black lug and unwashed squid. Cart is producing well, but the bites come faster to the worm and squid. View Boats Page

An absolute belter of a day yesterday John Vero and his son jack chartered Sea-Otter 2 they lost count of how many cod they caught .
It was literally non stop action for the Veros and a very big bag of cod fillets to take home to Leicester.

Back out to the wrecks today and what a day we had none stop Codling, a good stamp of fish between 5lb and 10lb, all on board caught well and ended up with bags of fillets. Hopefully out again on Saturday with spaces still available.

Hi guys, its been a cracking couple of days here at Whitby. Loads of lovely cod landed on both our day and night trips, by our anglers.
Our next trips are planned in for
thursday 23rd,
day trip 730am-430pm, 6 places
Night trip 5pm-11pm, 4 places
Friday 24th, 730am-430pn, 3 places.
Max 8 anglers for each trip, loads of space for everyone.

We say the the bigger fish come out to play in January and we’re not wrong. Fishing so far this month on the uptide / downtide grounds has been fantastic with some lovely cod coming over the rail. A better stamp of fish are now showing with plenty of 3lb to 5lb plump codlings. We also had a few around the 6lb to 8lb mark and over the weekend a couple of crackers by regular Dave Jenkins with two personal bests in one day with first drop of the flood tide, seen him pull a nice 11lb fish over the rails and then last drop of the day a cracker of 15lb and finishing the day with a cracking bag of 33 cod he was over the moon. All fish falling to unwashed squid and blacks. We have a busy week ahead so hopefully there’s a few bigger ones still to be caught. For info or to book a trip with us contact Barry in 07470354403
