  Report on-board Shy-Torque III

  The first competition of the year has just finished today here at Whitby. Bad weather plaguing us for the best part with only 5 days out of the 16 made to sea.
  We struggled to find the festival winner on our first few trips, but yesterday we managed to click some nicer fish on a wreck 12 miles North of the harbour.
  Pete Tamms from Leeds boating some nice cod to just short of 6 lbs. Gordon Yates from Blackburn also having a good day with cod to 8 lbs, but my old mate Nigel Hall taking the sweep on the boat with a cracking catch including the competition winner, a cracking pollack of 12 lb 6 oz. Most of the fish fell to the bait including Nigel's pollack.
  These 3 lads took first second and 3rd places on the day yesterday with Nigel bagging the £1050.00 in cash, first prize !!
  Thanks to all who fished the event.
  We still have room on some of the days in the summer competition where we will trying to bag our 2nd win of the year!

  The weather of late hasn't been kind with South easterly and easterly winds preventing us from getting to sea. Our last trip out in the spring festival was Sunday 21st and saw us take 1st place in the daily prizes winning Colin £50 with a 4.8lb codling. Sadly nothing big enough to get on the overall placings but considering the conditions we managed to boat a few codlings.

  It looks like the weather has turned for a few days here at whitby now, we managed a day out bank holiday Monday, which turned out to be a very productive day for us.
  
  We're still uptiding as the water is still very coloured inshore, we took a steady picking of fish each time we stopped with squid and lug doing the damage,
  
  Nothing huge boated with most fish 2-3lb but the lads were kept busy with a number of anglers managing around 10 fish apiece.
  
  We're taking bookings through the summer with plenty of good tides available, looking through the diary though most Saturdays are booked now until August.

  On Saturday we had a mixed group aboard the Shy-Torque. The weather was perfect for us again and with the tides still being huge we had another run offshore.
  
  Dropping on a couple of wrecks on the 18 mile for very little we decided to run back to the "Wall"
  
  Another nice steady days fishing for all on board with the best bag going to Simon England from Barnsley. He caught his fish using various methods including a double hooked jig (baited)

  First day out for us for a while here at Whitby.
  
  Did 3 wrecks out to 18 miles looking for that festival winner! Sadly, no monsters on these monster tides!
  A nice days fishing though with a good number of cod to just over 6 lbs and few doubles boated too. Baited rigs still doing the best.
  
  Regular on the boat Bill Barraclough taking the best bag with 14 cod for himself.
  
  Room for a couple tomorrow.

  Good Friday was good, ended up with around 50 codling and got third over all on the day with Alan Knaggs cod which went 6lb 13oz on the scales top man on the boat was Ian Kellock from Hull who finished up with 11 cod all caught on his favourite gay pink jelly worm. Spaces still available through the festival dates.

  A belting day at sea yesterday and the cod fishing wasn’t bad either nick green did well he had 17 cod the best 7 lb which got 2nd heaviest in the daily’s in the WCSA £1000 spring festival a lot more to come tel 07748705695 .

  After suffering a few weeks of Easterly winds Trot On managed a weather window and headed off to the 18 mile, We did have a little bit of swell until we got into deeper water, With a crew of 9 anglers itching to catch some fish they were not disappointed with the sport. We boated around 100 fish on the day with plenty returned to fight another day .
  Cod to just over 5lb, Ling to 7lb 7oz and some nice Pollock to just over 9lb. Most of the fish were taken on squid bait with the odd few being caught on shads. The Pollack managed to secure current 1st place in the W.C.S.A Spring festival that could earn the winner £1000
