Boat and Skipper Details
We have recently purchased a blyth 33 catamaran powered by two 8.2litre doosan engines capable of cruising 16-18knts with a flat out speed over 23knts. the blyth catamaran is a fast modern boat comfortable both at anchor and under steam. She has some indoor seating a toilet accessible at deck level and spray cover to keep you drier and more comfortable. we have a live well on deck and seating for more than 10 people on deck.
with a beam of 5 meters there is loads of deck room even with 10 anglers on board.
WE ARE AVAILABLE TO TAKE BOOKINGS 7 DAYS A WEEKS 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR
most trips run from 6.30-7.30am untill 16.30-17.30 at night although if you book the boat we can arrange times around you. we also offer night trips from 17.30-12.30am at night and evening trips in the river from 17.30-21.30 in the estuary. these are available upon request and we can arrange trips to suit your requirements.
we have hire tackle available with penn fixed spool reels at £10 per rod per day.

I have fished since I could hold a rod and grew up aboard my dads charter boats in the 90's. as I got older I took my Orkney longliner out and my dads boats when I got the chance. I am obsessed with fishing I have no other real hobbies and just about any free time I have is devoted to fishing related activities. This may sound abit sad but as I enjoy all kinds of fishing I have little time for anything else. My real passion is for sea angling but if I had more time I would like to spend a little more time fresh water fishing aswell.the first 'galloper' was bought by myself and my dad back in 2007.she was a brinkliner 28 and kept me busy for a couple of years. My wife stacey and i bought the second 'Galloper' back in march 2009 she was an aquastar 33 and we ran her untill 2013 when we bought our evolution 33 also named 'galloper' and the evolution did very well over the next six and a half years.
early in 2019 we bought a blyth 33 and spent 10 months completely overhauling her to bring her up to the standard we like to give our customers. the bltyh catamaran is a vary stable and spacios platform which is very popular with the anglers for her speed, room and stability.
i look forward to many good trips aboard her over the coming years. Although I'm only in my 30'sI have plenty of experience as a skipper as before all of this i was running my dads boats since I got my Yachtmasters Offshore licence when I was 17. before that I was taking his boat out with my grandad or brothers or friends whenever I could. I like to think that all of this along with many holidays spent fishing other venues has helped to give me a large amount of experience and knowledge for my age.

We had a fantastic day out fishing with Scott. Very friendly and extremely helpful to us novices. Coffee and tea served regularly throughout the day. All in all, one brilliant day and will definitely be going again.

Despite such a fantastic forecast we cancelled last week's trips. The inshore fishing just hasn't been up to scratch lately. I gave the lads the option to wait a couple of weeks and I got on with some jobs at home. It seems to be a sign of the times and I certainly don't intend making a habit of cancelling trips with perfect weather.
The weather did mean that the jobs were done quickly and looking out at such perfect conditions we couldn't resist nipping out for a few hours.
Nick had grafted on my block work at home so it was nice to see him get his first ray of the year. Dad was doing well with dogfish and a dab while I managed a roker too. I was really pleased to find a couple of roker fairly easily and I'm sure they are the sign of things to come as this spring sunshine warms the water up. I'm looking forward to having a run offshore this week and pretty confident the inshore fishing will be on form by the next set of tides.
I have spaces offshore this week and plenty of availability for groups and individuals over the coming weeks.

Spaces this weekend aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex.
The tides are great for a flattie bash inshore Sunday and we are hoping to get offshore Saturday for hounds, spurs and rays ect.
The dabs won't be around in numbers much longer so this might be our last chance to get a feed of them before we start our spring fishing next month.
They might not strip line from the reels but they can be great fun in light tackle and taste great.

With the easterly wind curtailing our efforts to get offshore the other day we stayed inshore and went in search of some dabs.
After mark started us off with a couple of pouting our first dabs came aboard.
Tom managed to find a bass which was only just bigger than his hook! However it was nice to see something different.
The lads had fairly large hooks on to start with but we downsized them as the day progressed and caught more as a result.
There weren't many whiting about compared to before Christmas as is to be expected this time of year but we had a few small ones once the tide. We even managed a couple of dogfish too which Steve was very pleased with!!
There were a few nice eating size dabs among them and so we kept a few for the pot. Stanley was desperate to catch a couple of dabs for himself and Douglas for dinner. He had a few throughout the day and we kept a couple which he ate the next night and is already asking to catch some more.
I know dabs aren't everybody's cup of tea but we had a pleasant day with a few fish to boot. If you just want to get out fishing soon then please get in touch.

It was great to be at sea again the other day. We grabbed a weather window and took the Galloper out on our first trip of the year. We might have been a bit rusty after the last couple of months but the lads fished hard and managed to find plenty of dogfish to keep them busy. Winter smooth hounds are still a novelty but always welcome. This one put a decent bend in Stephen Clarks rod and Steve hill was pleased with a thornback ray on his first cast. Unfortunately they are all too rare nowadays.

Sorry I've been quiet for a while. It's been a busy few weeks cracking on with maintenance on the Galloper. She's going back in Wednesday and our first trip is Saturday.
Although it feels like ages it wasn't that long since our last trips when we found some nice fishing for the time of year.
Nowadays I expect to catch hounds year round and sure enough there were a few to be had among the dogfish.
They weren't giants but big enough to put a bend your rods and the lads managed 10-15 during the course of the day. We saw a few pouting and whiting and a few bonus spurs to finish off with. Alex was very pleased with his new pb dogfish as well! I've seen smaller Alex so there's room for improvement.
