week, which as you will read are very confusing and frustrating for Charter Skippers.
Having said that I still think it is very risky to go back fishing and taking out charters while there are still hundreds
of people dying from the coronavirus most days. Lets be patient, Lets be safe. I will re access the situation in early July.
Guidelines were issued by the Angling Trust and Proffessional Boatmans Association on June 4th - take a look at the
link Covid - 19 Latest Guidelines on my main page on www.deepsea.co.uk
On June 9th Weymouth harbour issued -
The following amendment to the Return to Boating Notice to Mariners has been approved by the Harbours
Committee and senior Council officers with immediate effect:
Angling and Dive Charter Boats are permitted to operate (the guide lines similar to the Angling Trust/P.B.A. issued
on June 4th 2020).
On Thursday 11th June we received official guidance from Central Government which contradicts our NTMs. This
states that ‘Operators should not allow skippered day boat hire or skippered day charter boat hire.’
In light of this introduction of new guidance we have updated the Notice to Mariners. Furthermore, it is likely that
there will be implications around insurance cover for charter boat operators if operating outside of the government
guidance.
Awaiting further updates next week.
Stay Safe, All The Best, Colin, Flamer IV
