Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing continues to be very good. We have been concentrating mainly on plaice and are still catching in big numbers. If anything the quantities have increased during the month but the average size has decreased slightly. All of the local areas are producing well. This relaxing type of fishing involves minimal travelling time to the fishing grounds and is done using very light tackle. Most of the marks offer shelter from Northerly and Westerly winds so it has a lot going for it.
There are lots of small plaice around but also some heavyweights. The best plaice we have caught this month was a superb fish of 5lb 6oz and we have had several other 3lb fish although we haven't seen any big ones during the last few trips.
The bass fishing also continues to be good. Again, lots of small fish around but we have caught a good number of medium weight fish to just under 7lb. The big fish continue to elude us but hopefully we will see some bigger fish on board soon.
The mackerel have been sporadic. Sometimes they are in good numbers very close to the port sometimes they are much more unpredictable. Most of the plaice trips have produced a few good sized ones very close to the shore on ragworm baits. There are also a lot more scad featuring in the mackerel fishing sessions.
We have only fished a couple of sessions at anchor in relatively shallow water. These produced rays and small tope.View Boats Page
