Report on-board Supanova II
Hi all,
View Boats Page
A while since the last report.
Fishing throughout July and early August has proved a little tricky at times! Although catches have still been pretty steady.
The Bass have been very slow in showing unfortunately but over the next set of spring tides we should hopefully see their return in some reasonable numbers.
The breaming on it's day has been superb, wit fish quite frequently in the 3-4lb bracket, with an angler on another Weymouth boat taking a fish of 6lb 1oz just three days a go!
The plaice fishing has been superb on the mussel beds with many fish of specimen size. July- October is the time to get a big Plaice. How many places can you go in the country and be in with a reaistic chance of a Plaice over 6lb's?
The shambles and other sand banks to the west of Portland have continued to produce Turbot and Brill with some sessions producing up to 20 fish!
Among the reefs sport is continuing with masses of Gurnards, Good Huss, Tope and Congers.
The wrecks are fairly quiet, with most boats sticking to the more productive inshore fishing, however those venturing out are finding one or two cod still lurking around, odd pollack and bass. The best of the wreck sport has been on the anchor with some good congers to 70lb the odd ling and some monster bream!
The next month should hopefully bring better numbers of Bass and Bream, continued turbot and brill, and hopefully the long awaited rod bending blonde rays!!
Tight lines all!
