    Report on-board Lady Margaret

After an extended period with no fishing due to the lockdown it was great to get out to sea again. Both for the fishing and to be able to blast a bit of weed growth off the hull! Due to the restrictions I was just taking a single angler out so just two of us fishing.

Inshore there are lots of plaice around. Mainly small fish but a few nice keeper sized fish as well. One memorable short drift produced eight fish. They are in excellent condition considering it is right at the start of the season.

During the middle of the month there was a period of calm weather coinciding with very small tides which are ideal for deep water anchoring. These produced a nice variety of fish. We caught lots of congers, smoothhound and a nice double figure undulate ray in addition to the ubiquitous dogfish and pouting. The spurdog fishing was slow but we did land fish to just under 17lb.
