    Report on-board Galloper

As you might expect the offshore bass fishing is in full swing at the moment. Given the right conditions and if you can afford it we can bass fish most of the time. They have varied in size and numbers from day to day and place to place. They are pretty widespread at the moment however the fishing is better in some places than others.
Jon and the lads joined us once again the other day. the weather was pretty good with a bit of breeze on the way out but an improving forecast for the day ahead. Unfortunately just as we set up to start bass fishing Jim managed to get a hook well and truly stock in his index finger! After a long journey out and with lots of fish showing beneath us the rest of the lads offered to head straight in but Jim insisted they carry on without him. We didn’t know how long we would stay for but Jim seemed ok and we monitored him as we started to fish.
Jon was first into a fish almost immediately! The other lads weren’t far behind him and there was soon a steady stream of chunky bass coming over the side. The stamp was great with lots of 4-5lb fish and several over that coming aboard. It was great to see such quality fishing but it made it even harder to drag our selves away from it. Jim insisted that he was ok so the lads decided to use their bait up and head in. we fished for 2.5-30 hours with only 4 rods fishing most of the time as Jim tried in vein to remove the hook and Dave would catch a fish then sit it out for a while before casually catching another. We easily had 30-40 decent bass in that time with the biggest falling to Jon and pushing double figures but landing just shy. Unfortunately there wasn’t much time for me to get pictures with everything going on but I grabbed one here and there. I’m sure they wont do the fishing much justice though.
As we headed in conditions fined right away, it was a shame to leave so soon when the fishing was that good but at least we had a nice ride home. Jim headed off to A&E to get the hook removed and I gather is on the mend now.
We will continue to bass fish offshore until the end of November. Hopefully we will have a few more days like this. Please remember the fish will vary in size and numbers from day to day and place to place
I also feel I should remind you that there is a national bag limit of two bass per angler per day. this has been the case for several years now. I don’t necessarily agree with it or the way things are but I wont allow you to break the law on my boat while I am responsible for you. I don’t care what nationality you are. I don’t care if other skippers turned a blind eye to your behaviour and Its not my fault if you claim that you weren’t aware of this law. If you wish to break the law, try to intimidate me or whinge all day because I wont let you do as you want then please go on somebody more desperate boat.
Sorry for the moan but as you may have guessed I had a snotty party that ruined a flat calm day full of fish with a poor attitude. All others are welcome, attitude makes the difference.

I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.
Remember it is often worth giving me a shout if you are cancelled else where and still wish to get out, as we have lots of sheltered fishing available and a big catamaran which makes it even more comfortable.
