Report on-board Mistress
With a settled spell recently and the water clarity good, the lads wanted to have a crack at the wreck and ground fishing today. The tide was fairly small so was perfect, the only thing against us would be the southerly wind which threatened to push us along a bit too fast on the ebb tide in the afternoon.

Well, 1st stop was a wreck at only 3 miles, we hit a ball of fish taking a few off it and losing a few, all nice conditioned cod, all around the 5lb mark.
the mark slowed off so we moved around taking the odd fish until we arrived on the 8 mile ground. Moving between marks we passsed over a huge feed mark, I went around it & set up the drift for the lads - Bingo! all rods straight into fish! some of the lads pulling in 2 or 3 fish on the same rig, we continued to fish this mark until the tide eased off and it went off the feed. we moved around trying a few more marks but the fish were a bit ellusive. As the ebb got away the drift increased even though we tried more marks it was proving hard to nail a few fish. Finally it was home time, and the lads had had a good day considering the time of year and conditions, between the five of them they managed 4 boxes of quality fish, Cod to 8lb, Ling to 14lb, with another slightly lighter ling of 11lb but still in double figures.
