''The forecast was promising and Cod had been reported being caught, what more could we want. After a short 20 min steam out we dropped anchor at our first mark; it was the last of the ebb and we had to be quick. Out went the rods baited with varieties of choice concoctions and it wasn't long before the first sizable whiting hit the deck, shortly followed by some nice dabs. But where were the cod? the tide had by now gone slack and the boat swung with the wind, it was time to move to a rough ground mark for the start of the flood. After a slow start the first Cod of around three pounds was boated shortly followed by another slightly smaller one, both taken on lug; things were looking up! Anxious to catch one or two more the level of concentration from our small party increased twofold but it was another 30 mins before another two around the same size came aboard. One or two more sizable Whiting and a good Dab were boated before the skipper caught and netted a near 4 pounder, another plump 3 pounder ended the day; we steamed for home, happy with how the day had turned out and started planning our next trip.''
