    Report on-board Leaca Rua

    12th May 2010
Mackerel is only arriving the last two weeks, 50 were caught last Saturday by my group and around 20 caught the week before by Kevin. I think the cold weather of the winter and the current North wind is delaying everything.

Pollock finished spawning two to three weeks ago and starting to be more aggressive now (Starting to feed)

A lot of Spurdogs already caught in Galway Bay the last month, my group got six two weeks ago and Kevin got around 30 in April.

Few Ballan Wrasses were caught between the two boats

8 species were caught last sunday with a group of Polish lads from Galway (Pollock, Ballan Wrasse, Coco Wrasse, Coal fish, Cod, Mackerel, Pouting, Poor cod). With Mackerel around we can now start going after the species and fish with Mackerel bait at the bottom. Most of the Pollock were caught with shads and worms (jig Head).

Last week, a group of common dolphins came to the boat, nice to see them again.
